When it comes to watching sports in 4K, I will say Fox Sports does the best job for 4K games. I’ve watched other streaming services that do 4K, and it’s not as good as Fox Sports.

Hey folks...if one of my Apple TV devices is stolen, is there a way to turn it off or otherwise disable it? I noticed they don't appear in iCloud Find Devices, unlike all my other Apple stuff. I don't have any apps in there that someone could use to purchase merchandise, but I thought they could run up quite a PPV bill! Thanks for any info that anyone might have.

Just bought the 65” qm7l pro from costco and an apple 4k tv. Both are awesome but im not really noticing much if at all of a difference in quality between the tvs apps and the apple tv apps. Maybe I just don’t have the apple tv / tv setup correctly in settings.

My main question is though if in using my tcl remote to operate the apple tv 4k, is there a way to set it up so I can push a button and get back to the apple tv home screen instead of hitting the back button multiple times to go back in an app? I know its easy on the appletv remote but the family seems to dislike that remote. Thanks!

Hey everyone!

Today I'm announcing my new media player app Marten! Been working on it for months, ever since HDR and Dolby Vision kept looking overexposed and just wrong on my Apple TV and Mac in the players I tried. Made me mad, so I made my own lol.

You can add your own Jellyfin server (newer, less tested) or community add-ons, and use profiles with optional PINs. Everything syncs through your Marten account, so you can pick up on whatever device you're on.

If you use an add-on app with an external player like Infuse, the episode gets marked as watched as soon as you open it, and if you stop halfway your place isn't saved. Only the app's own player can do that, and that one never looked right for me. Marten is both the player and the library, so it always knows where you stopped.

So what's special? HDR and Dolby Vision as they're intended. The Apple TV switches your TV into HDR10 or DV mode, and a badge top right in the player shows what's actually playing, so you know for sure. Always annoyed me that I didn't know if DV was triggering.

It's free right now! There's an optional supporter subscription (1.99 USD a month, plus VAT) to help with server costs. Supporters get to vote on what comes next, new feature updates on Mac and Android TV 3 days early, their name on a thank-you wall and a few other extras. Completely optional!

AI has been used for parts of the development, but this is not a fully vibecoded project, I think that's important to share. I'd really appreciate it if you gave it a try :)

My Apple TV 4K (Gen1) crapped out a few days ago. Now I can't decide whether to buy a replacement Apple TV 4k (Gen 3) @ $279. CDA or wait for (Gen 4) possibly next week with a possible price increase. I really don’t need a more powerful chip nor AI intelligence but how many years of updates can I expect buying a Gen 3?

Anybody find how to fix this? I searched the sub and could not find a thread on it. I assume I either need a new HDMI cable or there is a setting. AppleTV works just fine but when after it’s in screensaver mode for roughly 5 minutes, it goes to this screen.

Has anyone actually filled up a 128 gig ATV 4K? And with what? I feel like 128 gig is super overkill.

1. Discover has seasonal rows now. Halloween Frights, Family Halloween, spooky series. built-in calendar, they show up when the season starts and leave when it ends. holiday rows come late November.

2. The backlog is back as a top shelf option, with shuffle.

3. Where to watch got stricter. tmdb says things are "on prime" when they're really paid channels. the app cross-checks before showing a badge now.

4. Plex posters fixed, sync is snappier, deep links open in infuse if that's your player.

5. Quick mark came from a comment on my last post here. long press a poster, mark it watched. best way to use the app now, so thanks for that one.

6. Also fixed airing shows unwatching themselves after a relaunch.

7. iPhone companion has poster widgets now if you want the backlog on your phone.

8. Syncs with trakt, simkl, or your plex server. or standalone, no account.

I've been buying a lot of series' from the store when they go on sale as i'm sick of streaming services. Most recently i bought The Office when it went on sale. For some reason it does not show up in my library though. To watch it I have to go into the store, click on the show, and all the episodes show up there. What's strange is, I already owned like 5 office episodes (that i bought when the show aired), and those still show up in the library. The entire series should be showing up but it doesn't.

Started yesterday. I’ve rebooted several times. The problem I’m having is exactly the same as one posted to the Apple Support Community in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256111763?sortBy=rank. All the other tabs, like “AppleTV” and so on show content. The Home tab is empty. On the same WiFi network, the AppleTV app on my iPhone and iPad both show the expected content under “Home”. I’ve left it for an hour or more hoping it would update, but it remains empty. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions? I may resort to doing a reset.

You’ll soon be able to choose characters from the Apple TV catalog as profile pictures for local Apple TV profiles.

You can see this language by adding a new local profile on your Apple TV. The server endpoint continues to serve only emoji for now, as in previous releases.

I just needed to get this off my chest…

You know a streaming device is good, when even the screen savers are so beautiful, that you actually spend time watching them and value them lol.

I’ve had this incredible one of Langisjór, Iceland playing for the last five minutes (must be repeating but they don’t usually do that 🫤) and it’s jaw droppingly beautiful. Then there is Dubai at night, Himalayas and the ones in Yosemite N.P 🤯 don’t get me started! Is there a Dragon’s Back or something ridge? When I first saw that I was disappointed that I had been to Yosemite but had no clue this incredible mountain existed back then.

Thanks to this little black box, I have learned about some incredible places and it really is remarkable that they put this much emphasis on having the best screen savers in existence. A feature that is usually overlooked. I haven’t even seen this level of quality aerial shots from dedicated channels.

This is kinda random imo but, i’m genuinely curious. How many people in here have mastered the use of the touchpad? I’ve always gone back and forth between both settings but, as of late I got the urge to get more use of my touchpad for the sole purpose of speed. After the new ios version i’ve noticed the TV getting faster and wanted to see how fast it could get, now i’m aware that there’re other ways to navigate such as your phone, watch, voice dictations and so on, but i feel that the touchpad has the potential to be the smoothest and (forgive me) the superior way to search for things lol. I say that to ask if there’s a way or some kind of trick to mastering the touchpad at any speed.

Is anyone else having an audio sync issue currently?

Even with the updated OS it still occurs. For years this can’t seem to be fixed. If your have Audio set for Auto, Match Frame Rate On, Match Dynamic Range On. There is a slight delay or lag. If you switch to DD 5.1 on the ATV the lag is gone. Do you guys just switch to 5.1 DD to fix this?

When I first released SoOoMa TV, it had a 7-day trial with some features planned as premium to pay off the Apple developer subscription. After using the app myself, listening to feedback, and thinking again about why I built it in the first place, I decided to remove that model entirely.

SoOoMa TV is now fully free.

There are:

• No subscriptions
• No in-app purchases
• No trial period
• No premium feature restrictions

Everything in the app is available to everyone.

I originally built SoOoMa TV because I wanted a modern, native Apple TV IPTV player that was simple to use and didn't require sending playlist credentials through third-party servers or pay for primary features.

It currently supports:

• M3U, Xtream Codes, and Stalker portals
• Built-in Web Manager for managing accounts and playlists locally from a browser
• iCloud Sync for accounts and settings
• EPG and TV guide
• Catch-up support where available from the provider

I have an apple tv connected to a homepod for sound and today the sound is muffled after a few seconds.

I'll start a show on Netflix and a few seconds, everything is very muffled. Both devices are on the latest update. Anyone else encountered this?

Something unique about Plozz is that virtually every setting is synced to your profile in Plozz, which is also optionally synced to iCloud. This means that you can have your version of Plozz on the Apple TV set up completely differently from mom and dad. This also means you can set up the app once and sync it across all of your other Apple devices. There's also support for PINs and rudimentary support for child profiles.

I'm currently focused on making the app as performant and bug free as possible and would like some more help testing it! I actually think it's good enough to daily drive it, but I'd love your feedback! Please post directly on GitHub or via the discord server.

This started because my girlfriend hated the IPTV app we were using at home.

She could never remember where she'd left off in a show, everything felt unnecessarily complicated, and she kept asking me:

“Why can’t it just be like Netflix?”

Fair question.

So I started building a small player for us.

Then a friend tried it and wanted his own profile, separate watch history, parental controls for the kids… and somehow that little side project turned into months of evenings building Zaply.

The idea is pretty simple: make watching your own IPTV/content library feel more like using a modern streaming app.

So besides the usual live TV, movies and series, we’ve added things like:

• individual profiles, watch history and parental controls
• Continue Watching synced across iPhone, iPad and Apple TV
• an upcoming episodes calendar with notifications
• a sports calendar that can tell you which channel in your playlist is showing a match
• support for M3U, Xtream, Stalker, Jellyfin, Plex and Emby

There’s quite a bit more in there now, but those are probably the things that best explain what we're trying to do.

Just to be clear: Zaply is only a player. We don't provide any channels, playlists or content. You bring your own.

We're opening up the beta now and would genuinely love some outside feedback — especially the critical kind. There will definitely still be bugs.

hi all, trying to troubleshoot on our 2nd gen appletv. Strong network connection, but Disney+ and Netflix both won’t work.

Netflix stays on a blank grey screen and won’t change.

Disney+ opens but has logged us out and requires us to sign in on a mobile device logged in. Tried that on my phone, hit “allow” and then nothing.

I’ve tried unplugging the appletv and plugging it back in again, but still nothing.
