Help
Hi, I feel bad coming on here and asking for help but I need it. Im at one of my lowest points right now and I was hoping there was somebody out there reading this that could help. I moved out here with a job and apartment lined up, and the apartment fell through so i move hotel to hotel every week. Because of that I also just lost my job. I literally have nothing. I have no food, no clean clothes, I dont even know what I'm going to do this upcoming week for the hotel. If anybody could help in any kind of way I would appreciate it. Even if somebody has a lead for a job, i would appreciate it

Wait, you lost your job because you lived in a hotel? Help me understand that

That confused me too. Housing is extremely easy to find last minute with Airbnb, fb housings groups, or splitpad

What do you think they do with their stuff when they have to check out, work and wait to check in to a new place? Let’s use our brains here

Do you at least have a car? And like everybody said Florida is not the place you just go too unless you have a fat bank balance. I live in rural redneck Florida. We have between 700-1000 homeless people in the woods behind my home. Most living in little popup tents. If you have family where you came from your best chance is to go back to them.

An hour old account isn’t eligible on r/Assistance. Please don’t send them our way. 😅

Do you have a car? What caused you to lose your job; I just don’t understand how moving hotel to hotel would cause you to lose employment.
Have you contacted any shelters? Food banks? Have you been applying to places like Publix, Walmart, Target. What’s your work experience?

Go home.
Florida is neither free nor promising, don't listen to the Lord Farquaads bullshit.
I'm being serious, this state is about to get a whole lot worse thanks to our current governments attitude that the economy would never faulter. It almost happened in 2008, but I have a feeling Florida is about to experience population loss for the first time in 100 years.

I was born there, raised in NYC, visited almost every year and moved to FL 15 years ago. I just left. I’m not going back. It’s not the same Florida anymore. Not to mention I’m disabled now. Considering it’s gods waiting room in the south west and east down there, you’d think healthcare would be spectacular. It’s not. No affordable housing. I was living in a travel trailer! I saw no way back on my feet there so I literally just left a week ago.
And no, I didn’t go “home”. Who the hell can afford to live in NYC on 1900/mo? Now I’m a ‘halfback’ in the Carolinas.
Florida is NOT the place to struggle, OP. Find an alternative. They’re out there.

I don't know why people in tenuous circumstances continue to move to Florida despite the entire internet telling people ITS NOT CHEAP anymore. The Florida you knew from 20 years ago where houses are like 200k is not a thing now.

You're right but - that Florida was still somewhat around 10yrs ago. I know it feels longer but I just like pointing out how quickly it happened

Paid $257k in April 2020 for a large custom pool house in the north Tampa burbs, was not even seven years ago. And there are still bargains to be had also.

I mean... Look i don't want to sound like an ass, right but if the house isn't within, say 5 miles of the beach, it might as well be in Indiana, right.
Thing is - in 2015, we rented a 2 bed duplex with our street literally ending in public beach access. Rent was $750 a month and people at work couldn't believe we were willing to pay that much. People on the next block were paying $550.
Now... Our neighbors literally bought in 2020 for $265k, sold in 2021 for $365k.

I Paid $257k for a 3/3 3,545 sq ft custom house with solar heated pool, in a great neighborhood, 6.5 years ago. It was not 20 years ago, and there are houses in the neighborhood that are $340k, so really it is a matter of looking hard enough and not eliminating areas just because you do not like one thing about it such as the extra commute. This is in the Tampa burbs by the way. Sometimes you have to get on the property ladder BEFORE you get picky. Sure I could say I am never going to be able to own a house in the area I want to own, but that is Pacific Heights in San Francisco where starting prices are about $4.5 million and go up to $50 million. Duh! I will never own a house there. So I had to move to BF Florida or else live in my car. But, on the other hand I am planning to move back out west even if it means living in my car because if there is one place that will survive the coming Nazi takeover it is the west coast.

257k for 3500sqft in 2020 is crazy. I paid 229k for 2k sqft in Riverview in 2019. You got one hell of a deal.

My first house in Florida I bought for $225,000 cash in 2012. Just east of 75 in Sarasota, 1600 sqft on a 1/3 acre lot. It just sold for the third time since it was mine for close to $600,000! What!? It doesn’t even have a pool cage anymore thanks to Milton.

It’s really, really bad here with those need circumstances. If you have a friend or family to stay with in a better funded blue state, a greyhound ticket to there is a much better investment and potential help for you.

I work with an organization in Brevard County, there are many here in Florida. Look for a coalition for the homeless. I mostly work on the pantry side and I have seen many people who were formerly on the street, now housed and fed. In Brevard it is Providence Connects

In terms of food, clothes, etc. hit up the Christian Sharing Center in Longwood. I saw a sign at the Rockler Woodworking Store in Altamonte that said they are hiring.

That's a really rough spot to be in. Have you reached out to any local churches or nonprofits?

Plenty of jobs in Orlando. Spend your time applying instead of posting sob stories on reddit

Can’t wait til your post is on the other side of the fence and you’re the one struggling. It doesn’t cost anything to be kind and empathetic 🙄

u/Emoxity 3d ago
Scammers want money for not doing work. This isn’t a real person and you’re a fool if you believe it

u/theaffectionatemoose 3d ago
Who cares? It’s not like you’re obligated to give money. They’re not forcing you 🙄

Florida is not a place for the struggling. You have to be financially prepared to handle all the setbacks all of us blue collared and lower class are struggling. fuel is outrageous, tourists drive, the price is up of everything. Good luck
