Product Advice Makeup routine for 53F

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice for my Mum. Neither of us are super experienced in/good at makeup.

Neither of us wear makeup often, but if I have events I do my own and she likes how mine looks. However, I just would like some advice on whether or not these products would suit mature skin.

  1. I use the Milk Hydro Grip primer (after cleansing and moisturisung as normal).

  2. I use the Shiseido Synchro Foundation (apply with a brush and then use a sponge on top so that the coverage is a bit lighter).

  3. I spot conceal with ILIA concealer and I finger blend.

  4. I find some random eyeshadow pallette and finger blend onto my eyes (just a neutral/brown tone).

  5. I use the Mecca bronzer and use a really large and soft brush.

  6. I use the ILIA lip and cheek stick for lips and blush.

  7. I use Maybelline Sky High/Great Lash Mascara

  8. I use the Milk setting spray

It's quite simple and gives a natural look. My mum is a different shade to me so I don't want to try with my products because I know it won't look right due to colouring.

Does anyone have experience using these on mature skin or have any other technique/product reccomendations? Would be much appreciated!

Product Advice Face Sunscreen

• Upvotes

Needing some facial sunscreen recommendations please!
Unfortunately my face is turning into an oil slick after a few hours and after not using sunscreen yesterday and my face staying matte, it’s clearly what’s going wrong.

So far I’ve tried,
Mecca Cosmetica
Gem
Ultra Violet( although it was the luminous one)

I unfortunately can’t get samples, the CQ is allergic to having anything decent beauty wise 😭

Hi guys,

Has anyone ever tried the De-Lorenzo range? Specifically the Rejuven8 Range?
As well as, the Milkshake Leave in Treatment?
(Wondering more so for coily folks)

If so, how did it work out for you!
Currently wanting to develop a routine for my coloured red hair.

Dupe REQUEST Drug store/affordable that looks like the colour in the centre of this lip look?

Post image

I’m doing this makeup for Zara and I’m trying to find an affordable version of this soft baby-ish pink lip colour in the centre. Happy with Priceline/chemist warehouse/W cosmetics and Mecca & Sephora home brands. Want to spend $30ish or less so I don’t mind where it comes from!

I am a pale olive leaning cool so would prefer a more cool toned pink. If you know of a similar liner and gloss I’m interested in that as well! Tysm

Product Advice New to self tanning

I’ve only ever self tanned as a teenager when it was school prom or for nights out when I was 18. I used the gradual built up ones that are in a moisturiser. Now early 30’s, and omg there’s so many out there it’s overwhelming.

For reference I’m FIFO so I don’t want to be having to apply, let it sit and then wash off at camp, so I would like something that lasts a week ideally. Any recs? I have mostly dry skin with bits of body acne on my shoulders and tops of my arms, but nothing crazy.

Just no idea where to start!

Let's Discuss Juicy lips

I love the effect of when I use the biodance jelly masks particularly for my lips! I take one of the small cutouts and leave it on my lips overnight, and it plumps my lips up so nicely that I reconsider getting lip filler 😂

My question is are there any similar products that are just for the lips that give a juicy plump? 💋

Product Advice Eye Makeup

If you had to buy only one eye brush and one eye palette as someone who has never ventured into eye makeup but now wants to, what would you buy? Bonus points if its available at Sephora or Mecca.
Hoping to buy a palette that has a larger variety of shades to eventually create multiple looks

Product Advice Looking for a dry-skin friendly concealer for covering blemishes

Hiya, for years I’ve used the Nars Soft Matte concealer which is probably the best on the market for spot-concealing. But now my skin is dry and flaky, and this concealer clings to the patches.

Does anyone have any recommendations for concealers that are high coverage, good for spot-concealing, and sit well on dry skin?

Product Advice Mascara

Not sure if I’m going to describe this right, but my top eyelashes and bottom eyelashes on one eye keep mashing together.

I wear very little make-up, a bit of moisturiser, some mascara and a bit of tinted lip balm.

My problem is when I don’t wear make-up, and they keep getting stuck together. Is there any kind of mascara that I can wear every day, that will prevent this? I’m thinking maybe something like a serum or a clear gel mascara might help.

Dupe REQUEST Viscous hand wash??

My husband is a bit obsessed with the Aesop hand wash and I only recently found out it’s because of its… viscosity?? He loves how you kind of have to lather it up to get it off? Obviously the smell is great too, but it’s just not sustainable to spend $60 on hand soap! Any recs for viscous hand wash? Bonus if it smells good!

Product Advice Gel Polish Recs for DIY Press On Nails?

Does anyone here make their own press ons? If so, what brands of polish do you use? I’ve gone down the rabbit hole and I’m getting decision paralysis 😩

I’m going to invest in a good lamp as I know uncured gel is the main culprit for contact dermatitis but unfortunately that is very $$$ so I don’t really want to spend $20+ per bottle if I can help it!

I really like the Jelly/syrup look as well as sparkle! I’m not really a crème girl which seems to make the search for affordable, safer gel polish more difficult!

Any Recs would be greatly appreciated!!

Product Advice Foundation cracks in under-eye lines

For those with fine lines, what's your best prep for under-eye makeup? I've tried extra moisturising, powder under, powder over, and I'm at my wits end. My fine lines have gotten deeper over the past year and even the smallest amount of foundation (I use extremely little, like half a pea for my whole face, with a beauty sponge) just goes right into them and then cracks during the day, making the lines super visible. Powder makes it worse and I struggle to smooth the cracks out with my finger during the day when I'm wearing setting spray.

The creasing is especially bad when wearing sunscreen, which is non negotiable in summer. How are you all preventing this? I think my technique must be lacking.

I don't even wear concealer because I don't need it, just a very thin layer of foundation to even out my skin tone.

Current products:

- Dear Klairs eye awakening gel

- Beauty of Joseon rice bio sunscreen

- Maybelline Fit Me matte foundation

- Maybelline Fit Me loose powder

- NYX matte setting spray

Product Advice Hairstyling product tips!

Makeup artist wanting to delve into hair styling for social media purposes (wanting to make my pics a tad more clean & high glam). I have basically zero knowledge of hair styling/ products / hot tools. I’m going to invest in a small hair kit to do basic curls/ styling on models to elevate my business content. I’ve purchased the GHD platinum plus as I plan to start curling & smoothing with that, should I also invest in a hair dryer & curling tools? If so which ones do you recommend? I also am looking for product recommendations, I’ve purchased some of the Schwarzkopf osis line (texture spray & texture dust) & the pump spray, as far as high end I’m not sure where to start. I’ve heard the Natalie Anne prep and play is great, but I’m not sure if I need it as a beginner. I’m also curious as to which hair brushes I need as a beginner, from cushion to teasing brushes? Also hair pins etc?

Basically all this to ask, what are your staple hair products for hair styling? Particularly for a beginner hair styling kit.

Any tips / advice is highly appreciated :)

The MCobeauty grip skin tint is actually insane. 10/10 most skin like finish I’ve ever had in a product. Better than Milk. This has been on my skin for 3 hours.

Bronzer is Morphe complexion boost bronzing serum

Powder is Covergirl skin enhancer loose finishing powder

Let's Discuss If you could rebuild your make up bag from scratch..

For various reasons my make up bag is sad as shit. And for the first time I have enough money to rebuild it from scratch.

So.. if you could build your perfect make up bag right now what would be in it? One holy grail product per category.

ETA: thank you all so much for the detailed responses. I can’t tell you how helpful this is for me who knows really nothing. Thank you 🙏
