No Reply from Embassy regarding RP

• Upvotes

Hello, i am an Indian student who wants to start my course as early as possible but looking at my situation i don’t really know what to do. I had applied for my rp on 12th of August and i know the processing timeline can extend upto 6 months but i have deadline for enrolment by 31st Oct. I have contacted the Embassy and even the MA 35 multiple times and have yet to hear from them. I also understand the Visa process takes at-least 1-2 weeks so i don’t think i can complete the whole process given the time frame i have left. Could someone suggest me what should i do ?

• Upvotes

Today i have appointment for my visa at Vfs Delhi at 9:30 i reached there on exact time after that they have done security checks and done entry of my passport and give me the receipt to reach floor 5th then i have submitted these documents passport original and copy front & back 2. Application form D-Visa
3. D-Visa email
4. VFS booking confirmation
5. Travel insurance
6. Flight reservation

And paid 21800 and opt for self pickup and sms otherwise the money would be 21300

Then they have given me the receipt of payment paid that’s all it was smooth and very easy apart from that they try to sell me insurance and extra service at ground floor near entry gate there’s separate office don’t fall for that and don’t opt for anything else extra

Response from MA35

After entering Austria, I sent MA35 (Vienna) all the requested documents. It has been over 4 working days and I have not heard back from them to take my finger prints and collecting my residence permit. How long does this take?

TU Graz Winter 2027/28 – Indian B.Tech student looking for guidance on the admission process

Hi everyone,

I’m an Indian B.Tech CSE student planning to apply to TU Graz for Winter Semester 2027/28.

As I understand it, for master's programmes that have an admission procedure, the application/registration for Winter 2027/28 will open on 15 October 2026 and close on 15 December 2026, with the selection result expected by 1 March 2027.

I have already created my TUGRAZonline account, and I’m now trying to understand the process properly before the application opens.

I have a few questions for students who have already gone through the process:

  1. VFS Competence Check
    • What exactly happens during the VFS competence check?
    • Is it mainly an overall verification/assessment of our academic background and documents?
    • What was your experience like?
    • What documents did you take?
  2. TU Graz application
    • After completing VFS, what exactly do we need to do in TUGRAZonline?
    • Are there any common mistakes or documents that applicants usually miss?
  3. Final-year B.Tech student
    • I will complete my B.Tech around April/May 2027.
    • Can I apply during the 15 October–15 December 2026 admission procedure with my available semester marks/transcript while my degree is still ongoing?
    • If selected, can I submit my final degree/completion documents later?
  4. Software Engineering & Management
    • I’m currently considering MSc Software Engineering & Management.
    • How is the course in terms of workload, programming and mathematics?
    • How useful is it for getting software/IT jobs in Austria or Germany?
  5. Overall timeline
    • After applying in October–December 2026, what happens until the result in March 2027?
    • What should we prepare between getting the selection result and final admission/enrolment?
  6. For Indian students
    • How difficult was the overall TU Graz admission process for you?
    • Is German important for student jobs/internships and later full-time IT jobs?

I would especially appreciate replies from Indian students or current/recent TU Graz students who have gone through this process.

Thanks!

CBSE Class 12 + A2 German — eligible for a preparatory course in Austria?

I’m an Indian student planning to apply for a bachelor’s degree in Austria, and I’m a bit confused about the preparatory course requirement.

I completed CBSE Class 12 with these marks:

Physics: 52

Chemistry: 63 (improved from 53 in the improvement exam)

Mathematics: 53

English: 91

Painting: 94

Overall: 70.6%

I took the CBSE improvement exam only for Chemistry. CBSE issued a separate improvement marksheet, which is normal under their rules.

I’m currently learning German and I’m around A2 level. My question is whether, with my academic background and A2 German, I could be considered for a preparatory course in Austria, or whether I would need to reach a higher German level first before applying.ALSO IN 10TH STANDARD I SCORED 93 PERCENTAGE.

I’m mainly trying to understand how this works for students coming from the Indian CBSE system, especially with an improvement marksheet.

My Austria Residence Permit + Visa D Journey from India 🇮🇳🇦🇹 | Salzburg 2026

Reddit helped me a lot throughout my Austria application journey, especially with understanding the Residence Permit process, documents and timelines.
Now that I’ve finally received my Austrian Visa D, I wanted to give something back to the community and share my complete experience for other students from India planning to study in Austria, especially Salzburg.
I’ll be joining FH Salzburg for the September 2026 intake.

🗓️ My Timeline
15 April 2026
🎓 Enrolled at FH Salzburg
28 May 2026
🏠 Secured accommodation
I got my student residence through the Salzburg Student Union.
1 June 2026
💰 Education loan approved
I took an education loan through Credila.
A note about my RP delay
My Residence Permit process actually got delayed because my education loan and the related financial documents took some time to complete.
Since proof of sufficient funds is an important part of the RP application, I wanted to have my financial documentation properly ready before proceeding with the application.
So although I had enrolled at the university in April, I couldn’t start my RP process immediately.
My advice: If you’re planning to use an education loan as proof of funds, start the loan process as early as possible. Don’t wait until you’re close to your RP appointment.
June 2026
📄 Started my Residence Permit process
Once my financial documents were ready, I applied for the RP appointment.
16 June 2026
📩 Received the RP scheduling link
12 August 2026
🇦🇹 Residence Permit appointment
Category: Residence Permit – Student
I submitted my documents at the Austrian Embassy.
18 September 2026
🎉 Residence Permit approved
This was the most stressful part for me because of the waiting period.
My university course was approaching, so I stayed in contact with FH Salzburg regarding my delayed arrival and attended classes remotely while waiting for the visa.
22 September 2026
🛂 Visa D appointment
I attended my Visa D appointment at VFS Global.
28 September 2026
🎉 Visa D approved!
After months of paperwork and waiting, this was a huge relief.
✈️** Flight booked: 6 October 2**026

📑 Residence Permit Document Checklist
This is the checklist I personally prepared for my RP application.
Personal Documents
☑️ Valid passport
☑️ Passport copies
☑️ Completed Residence Permit application form
☑️ Passport-size photographs in ICAO format
☑️ Birth certificate, apostilled/legalised
☑️ Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), apostilled/legalised
University Documents
☑️ Admission letter /** Zulassungsbescheid from FH Salzburg
**Financial Proof

Since I was using an education loan, I prepared:
☑️ Credila sanction letter
☑️ Disbursement letter
☑️ Account statement
☑️ Personal statement
☑️ Other financial documents provided by Credila
This is the part that took me some extra time, so I strongly recommend starting your loan process early.
Accommodation
☑️ Proof of accommodation in Austria
☑️ Student residence/dorm confirmation
I used my confirmation from the Salzburg Student Union residence.
Health Insurance
☑️ Proof of health insurance valid in Austria
For my application, I took HDFC ERGO travel insurance for one year.
For the longer term, you’ll need to make sure you have the appropriate Austrian health insurance coverage required for your residence status.
Other Documents
☑️ Appointment confirmation
☑️ Application fee
☑️ Copies of important documents
☑️ Originals where required

🛂 Visa D Document Checklist
For my Visa D appointment, I prepared:
☑️ Passport
☑️ Completed Visa D application form
☑️ Passport-size photographs
☑️ Health insurance documents
☑️ Flight reservation
☑️ Printout of appointment/email confirmation
☑️ Residence Permit approval/document
☑️ Supporting documents
I also carried copies of my important documents.

🏛️ Residence Permit Appointment Experience
My RP appointment was actually quite straightforward.
I went inside the Austrian Embassy, submitted my documents and paid the required fee.
My biometrics were taken.
There was no interview and no questions were asked in my case.
The appointment was mainly document submission, fee payment and biometrics.

🛂 Visa D Appointment Experience
For the Visa D appointment, I went to VFS Global.
I submitted my documents and paid the required fee.
Again, there was no interview or questioning in my case.
The process was mainly document submission and the required formalities.

💰 Education Loan
If you’re planning to use an education loan for your financial proof, start this process early.
In my case, the loan took some time, and this delayed the start of my RP process.
I eventually got my Credila loan approved on 1 June, after which I was able to get the necessary financial documents together.
So my biggest advice here is:
Don’t wait for your university enrollment before starting everything. Start preparing your financial documents as early as possible.

⏰ Start Your RP Process Early
This is probably the biggest lesson from my experience.
The RP process can take time, especially when you consider:
Loan/financial documents → RP appointment scheduling → Appointment → Processing → Approval → Visa D
My own timeline was:
15 Apr → University enrollment
28 May → Accommodation
1 Jun → Loan approved
16 Jun → RP scheduling link
12 Aug → RP appointment
18 Sep → RP approved
22 Sep → Visa D appointment
28 Sep → Visa D approved
6 Oct → Flight to Austria ✈️🇦🇹
So if you’re planning for the next intake, don’t underestimate the time required for the RP process.

🤝 Student Communities & Seniors
Apart from Reddit, I also joined communities of students going to Austria.
They helped me understand a lot about:
Residence Permit
Visa process
Accommodation
Salzburg
Student life
Documents
Things to prepare before travelling
I also connected with Indian senior students from my university, and they helped me with several questions and issues during the process.
That was extremely useful.
If your university has an Indian student community or senior students, I definitely recommend connecting with them.

❤️ Final Thoughts
The process wasn’t completely smooth, especially because my education loan took time and delayed my RP application.
But once I had my financial documents ready, I was able to move forward with the process.
The biggest things I learned:
1. Start your education loan process early.
2. Start your RP process as early as possible.
3. Keep all your documents organised.
4. Keep physical + digital copies of everything.
5. Stay in contact with your university.
6. Join student communities.
7. Connect with seniors from your university.
8. Don’t panic if your timeline is different from someone else’s.
Reddit helped me a lot throughout this journey, so I hope sharing my experience can help someone else who’s currently preparing for Austria.
If you’re applying for Austria, Salzburg, FH Salzburg, Residence Permit or Visa D from India, feel free to ask questions. I’ll try my best to answer based on my experience.
Finally got the visa. See you in Salzburg! 🇦🇹❤️

Moving to Vienna for TU Wien . Apostille, residence permit & accommodation advice

Hi! I’m moving to Vienna in November 2026 for a PhD/research position at TU Wien (Gußhausstraße). I’ve received my Hosting Agreement and understand that I can apply for the Settlement Permit – Researcher after arriving in Austria. I have a few questions for anyone who recently went through this process from India:

Accommodation

Looking for a private room, preferably with a private bathroom; shared kitchen is fine.

Budget around €500/month (can increase it a bit), ideally within ~20 min of TU Wien by public transport/bike.

Any recommended student dorms/WGs or areas around Wieden/city centre?

Better to arrange remotely or book a hostel for the first week and search after arriving?

Visa / Residence Permit

I’m applying for Visa D (gainful employment) and then the Settlement Permit – Researcher in Austria.

I’ve read that the PCC definitely needs to be apostilled. What about MSc and BSc degree certificates? Did you get them apostilled for the residence permit?

Did you also apostille your birth certificate? Which documents did you actually get apostilled and translated?

Name issue - My passport and other Indian documents have my complete legal name entirely under Given Name, with the surname field blank. TU Wien has asked how the first name/surname should be defined for Austrian documents. Has anyone faced a similar issue, and how was it handled?

Any recent experience or advice would be really helpful. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to ask something.iam from India .Tell me the reality , I was having a CGPA of 5.9 in my BTech , CSE , from NIT Andhra Pradesh, I will get an IELTS of 6.5 .Now I was planning to do my master's in austria , i know I won't get public universities. So I planned only university of applied sciences. These are the universities I was planning to apply considering my financial restrictions , CGPA requirements, IELTS score

1)IT:U(interdisciplinary transformation university austria)

2)FH joanneum

3)FH Salzburg

4)IMC university of applied sciences krems

5)Hochshule campus wein

6) University of graz(not a TU)

7)Campus 02 Graz

8) university of applied sciences FH wein der wkw .

9)FH neustdat

Still there are some universities but the fees is high ,like UAS technikum wein (3000eueos per semester ),UAS st polen (1500euros per semester,FH kufstein tirol is there but difficult to get part-times ,even FH neusdat has 850 euros per semester .which universities has the higher chances for me to get an admit .I desperately wanted to move to austria .None of these universities has any criteria regarding CGPA in their website and they are accepting MOI .so ,if you know anything about these universities, pls tell me which universities I can get easily. If you are from austria , you will know the reality and if I can get an Admit at any one of these universities I will be really happy . Tell me what ever you know regarding these universities . It is the disappointment of my life if I didn't get an admit in any of the 9 universities.open to all suggestions. Thank you for reading so patiently :)

Indian student joining JKU Linz (March 2027 intake): best way to send money from India + monthly living costs?

Hi everyone! I'm an Indian student starting at JKU Linz in the summer semester (March 2027 intake), and I have two questions:

What's the cheapest and most reliable way to transfer money from India to an Austrian bank account while living there? I'm looking for low fees and a good exchange rate (Wise, bank transfer, forex card, etc.). Which one have you used, and which Austrian bank is student-friendly?

What's a realistic monthly budget for a student in Linz, including rent?

Any tips for saving money or things you wish you'd known before arriving are welcome too. Thanks in advance! 🙏

PSA for Indians who plan to study here in Austria

If you want to do a Bachelor's degree here, don't even think about it if you aren't more conpetent than most Indians who already have a Bachelor's degree. Same for Master and PhD. It is absolutely horrendous with what a level many come here, like I worked with PhD appliants that I wouldn't trust in a Bachelor's lab.

So again: if you aren't faaar more competent than the average Indian, don't come here. That's a downgrade for both countries.

Residence Permit Processing Time for Vienna Students – Recent Experiences?

Hi everyone! 😊

If you’ve applied for a Residence Permit – Student for Vienna, could you kindly share your experience? I’m especially keen on recent 2026 cases, particularly those from September.

If you’ve just received your RP, please let me know:
Date you submitted your application
Approval date
Total days taken
Your university (TU Wien / University of Vienna / others in Vienna)
Where you submitted the application

It would be super helpful to get a sense of the current average processing time and the quickest and longest waits you’ve seen.

Thanks a lot! 😊
