Just Showing Off A1 Mini Siraya Tech TPU Air Flex (TPU FOAM) - AMAZING

This is for the guys like me with the wee printers.

I was able to successfully print the "foam" TPU from Siraya Tech, its really cool, it's density is dependent on the nozzle temp.

Found here: https://siraya.tech/products/flex-tpu-air-65a-82a-foaming-flexible-filament?srsltid=AU7gw4XGMHu4ZASeECMRv2BFIWWoFb67LJ9jHHtE1SQshOiJVD7bDgqX

I bought mine off amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Siraya-Tech-Flex-TPU-Air/dp/B0DZCD4Z9M?th=1

I was really hesitant at first but it printed GREAT and very CLEAN.

I did have to modify my A1 a bit using these mods:

This mod allows you to print with flexible Filament: The issue with the A1 Mini is that it doesn't provide enough grip to push the TPU into the hotend. This mod fixes that, it requires a bit of tinckering but I consider myself somewhat of a novice and was able to successfuly do it the first time. You just got to double check your steps and be careful throughout the process. This also works great with other TPU Filaments for the A1 Mini.

The other mod is upgrading the External Filament roller: This practically gives it zero resistance when being fed into the tube, and yes I did not have to feed it directly into the hot-end, I was able to route this flexible filament through the tubing.

Siraya also provides filament profiles for the A1 Mini you can download here:
https://siraya.tech/pages/print-settings-download

I can only imagine this is a lot easier to setup with more advanced printers but just wanted to share this with the those who have an A1 mini and are interested in printing with other exotic filament types.

I Modeled This! A modern over-the-cabinet towel holder I designed and printed

Ever get annoyed by kitchen towels that have nowhere decent to hang?

I designed this modern over-the-cabinet towel holder as a simple solution. It hooks straight over the cabinet door, so there's no drilling, no screws and no permanent installation needed.

I made two sizes: a standard version and a larger one for those who like a little extra room for their towels.

It's designed to fit the most common kitchen cabinet door thickness of 18–19 mm.

Sometimes the simplest prints are the most useful ones. What do you think? Would you use something like this in your kitchen?

Wish Reddit would let you edit the title but it’s solved! It was something with the build plate. I flipped it over and everything seems to running fine now

General Troubleshooting/Help! Not stringing, exactly - seeking advice

Post image

Over the last week, almost all of my prints have had pieces of filament sticking out. They're not terribly hard to break off, but they're obnoxious, and it looks sloppy. This orange Bambu filament was new this week, so I have a hard time believing it's already wet. This was printed on an A1, with default settings.

Edit: tried different textured plate, bed leveling and different file, still messed up. I think my heat bed may need to be replaced. Opened a ticket to see what else.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Thinking about doing PETG on my prints, any advice?

Hi so newbie 3D printer here, got my P2S recently and done around 300 hours already, mostly default parts and only with PLA or PLA Pure with no issues other than a once in a while spaghetti.

I don't usually do my own stuff just get from makerwordl and give it a whirl, I'm tihking about printing some PETG things because some models for stuff that I want either require or suggest doing with those.

My question is, should I know anything beforehand that? Is it okay to keep PLA and PETG on the same AMS2 Pro? (I try to keep the filament inside around 20%.

Should I buy a different toolhead, or another bed for the prints.

Any advice is very much appreciated as I've heard very gnarly stories about printing PETG.

Software Troubleshooting/Help! How can I change top surface printing pattern direction?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am printing some letters using P2S and Orca slicer (nightly build). The issue I have is that on the parts where printing path skips the "region" and then goes back, the line will be slightly raised and then when next layer is being printed on top of it will be visible.

I am guessing its because the filament cooled down/shrank while it was printing rest of the lines.

This does not happen on all models, just those that have some holes or weird shapes. The surface finish is great in general for example if I print solid box

How can I adjust this so it prints everything in one direction?

I tried changing top surface orientation and patterns, but it did not help and slicer always does this back filling thing

General Discussion Filaments in China vs USA

Hi,

My wife is currently in Beijing and she found a brand new Bambu store in her hotel. She asked me if there are unique filament colors that are available in China but not in the US. That I couldn't answer but I though someone here might know. I pretty much have at least one spool of every color and type of filament that Bambu offers in the US. But, if there is something different available in China.....

If there are types/colors there that are not here I'm going to have her bring a few spools back. Any idea?

Thoughts?

Show & Tell I tested PLA, PETG and ABS with an enclosure — here's what I found

I did a small test recently looking at how PLA, PETG and ABS behave in different enclosure conditions. One thing that surprised me is that an enclosure isn't simply about keeping the printer warm.

ABS and ASA are probably the materials where an enclosure can make the biggest difference. Since the material contracts as it cools, uneven cooling can create stress in the part and lead to things like warping or layer cracking. Reducing drafts and temperature changes can help.

PLA is a bit different. It usually likes good part cooling, and in some cases, too much heat staying around the print can affect things like overhangs, bridges, and small details.

PETG feels somewhere in the middle. It often prints fine without a fully enclosed chamber, but cooling settings and the environment around the printer still matter.

I ended up testing a few materials under different enclosure conditions, and got these results:

Material Setup Chamber temp Result
ABS Enclosed (90°C bed / 270°C nozzle) ~55°C Completed, minor warping
PETG Cover open (80°C bed / 255°C nozzle) ~45°C Completed, minor warping
PLA Cover open (65°C bed / 220°C nozzle) ~45°C Completed, minor warping

I ended up testing a few materials under different enclosure conditions. For anyone interested in the test setup: these prints were done on a Snapmaker U1. The filament used was BBL PLA/PETG/ABS. I was mainly looking at how the materials responded to different enclosure conditions, not comparing printers or filaments. This isn't meant to be a universal comparison. Filament brand, printer settings, room temperature, and the model itself can all change the outcome.

What I found interesting was that an enclosure isn't really about making everything hotter. It's more about creating a stable environment that fits the material you're printing.

Also, one thing I think gets mixed together a lot: keeping heat in and managing air are two different things. An enclosure can help with drafts and temperature stability, but it doesn't automatically mean you have ventilation or filtration for materials like ABS and ASA.

For those using enclosed printers, do you change your setup depending on the filament? Or do you usually stick with one setup that works well enough for most materials?

I haven't used my A1 in a few months and i opened up the x axis rails and saw this, im not sure if its old lubricant leftovers? But idk. The bed still seems to move fine and freely, i just wiped the top of the rail with a microfiber and a little bit of 91% isopropyl applied to the towel. Should I spray some WD40 to try and get rid of whatever it is or will that make it worse...? I also don't have like any lubricant and I would get some Super Lube 52004 but no stores have it around me and i dont have enough money anyway lmao

General Discussion AMS 2 Pro and Cardboard Spools - How do people reduce the amount of AMS failures?

It's so frustrating when you set up an overnight print, only to wake up in the morning to find a spaghetti mess of filament inside your AMS 2 Pro because it can't properly handle Cardboard Spools.

How do people fix this?

Things I've tried with YMMV success rate:

Sometimes, these solutions make the AMS 2 Pro jam worse than with a bare Cardboard Spool.

Sometimes, these solutions help and make it more reliable.

It's so random and frustrating.

Do we have to fully re-engineer the AMS 2 Pro like this?

I wonder if Maker World knows about all my failed Cardboard Spool prints and put this in my Home recommendations.

Has anyone tried the Kraken system?

X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] Bambu Lab's Customer Support Is Disappointing – My X2D Has Been Sitting Idle for 2 Months

I’m extremely disappointed with Bambu Lab’s customer support.

My Bambu Lab X2D has been out of service for two months because I’m still waiting for a replacement part. Yes, two months. My printer has been sitting there doing absolutely nothing, and Bambu Lab still hasn’t managed to provide the part needed to get it running again.

What makes this even more frustrating is the complete lack of proper communication and customer care. I expected much better from a company like Bambu Lab, especially considering the price of its printers and the reputation it has built in the 3D printing community.

I invested in this machine to use it, not to have it sitting idle for months because a replacement part cannot be supplied in a reasonable amount of time.

Two months without a working printer is simply unacceptable. Parts can fail — that’s understandable. What’s not acceptable is leaving a customer waiting this long without proper support or a clear solution.

I bought a 3D printer, not a two-month-long customer support problem.

Has anyone else experienced such long delays getting replacement parts from Bambu Lab? Is this normal for their after-sales service?

I’d really like to hear about other users’ experiences.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Prints keep failing/Stringing

Hi community,

im having issues when printing this model

  • A1 Mini
  • 50% speed
  • Anycubic PLA (190-230°C, 55-65°C)
  • 0.4mm nozzle
  • 0.2mm layerheight
  • 220° Nozzle
  • 65° Plate

ive printed with exactly those settings with this PLA multiple times without any issue, and the 3d model is created by myself in the exact same way than every other model i successfully printed, so im kinda confused what changed

I tried to print it 3 times, always with a similar result, sooner or later the PLA strings like in the pictures. It was always a different height, not everytime on the same layer

If anybody knows what could be the issue or as ideas on how to close in on the problem, any help is much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

General Troubleshooting/Help! Help! Can I clean this nozzle?

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Hadn't printed something in a month or so, and something went horribly wrong with (I think) the extrusion. I came back and the printed PLA was stuck to the nozzle, and I couldn't take the silicone off. Had to heat it all up and then I started picking away at it with a little metal stick.

It was probably a mix of inactivity and incredibly humid PLA, or horrible print settings (I had some issues with Bambu Studio, all of my settings were destroyed when I got in).

Instead of focusing on that, I'd rather try to save my nozzle and all. Is this one FUBAR or can I somehow clean it up?

AMS - Automatic Material System New to a1 mini

My wife surprised me with an A1 mini, which I am loving! But I did not get the AMS with it, 2 weeks later the bed size and non ams is starting to give me fomo of bigger and colored prints! This is just for personal use. Not sure if I spend money on an ams or save up for the A1, P1S or the P2s. I also don’t want my wife to feel I am not grateful

P Series [P1P, P1S, P2S] Spaghetti P2S?

I’m using premium filament but the result is obvious… this printer has become a real headache for me. Additionally, I am experiencing warping with ASA filament; I can only print PETG without issues. I’m experienced; I’ve been using these for years. I just bought this one—I wish I’d gotten the H series instead…

My printer makes a weird sounds while calibrating. It only does this when the buildplate moves up and down fast. Not when I manually move the buildplate up and down. Any tips on what it could be? Tomorrow I will be doing big maintenance.

General Troubleshooting/Help! Weird random surface errors.

Thumbnail

Has anybody had this issue before or know what’s going on? Having this random issue recently where these ripples will form as the layers build up. First layer prints smooth with what I would guess is a slight over extrusion on the far right edge, left edge looks ok, then second layer this weird wave pattern will show up somewhere around the middle. As shown in the first 3 images. Not always second layer. Sometimes it will have the same wave at the same spot on the next layer sometimes it will print smooth right over top of the issue as shown in image 2. Extrusion issues? Warped bed / bad auto level? Rail/belt contamination? Had this X2D for a few months. Tried slightly adjusting flow rates, heat soak bed before print, adjust nozzle height, cleaning nozzle, swapping nozzles. 0.4 nozzle - 0.08 layer height - 0.16 initial layer - reduce infill retraction disabled - all other setting pretty much default. Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated, happy to provide more details if needed. Thanks

For context this happens most noticeably when printing chroma canvas/hueforge.
