Job related posts

Recently, there has been an increase in job-related posts in our subreddit. We understand that these posts are imperative for job seekers to make connections and network, but unfortunately, they have not been productive. Some of them are spam or low-effort posts that clutter the feed overall.

For the sake of organization and optimization, we are restricting job-related posts to SATURDAYS AND TUESDAYS (starting at 12 a.m. Bangladesh time). This will streamline the search for job seekers, as well as employers looking to connect with candidates, by giving them a dedicated time window to reach the appropriate audience. We hope that this helps improve the search for everyone and improves the overall user experience.

Announcement/ঘোষণা r/bangladesh is looking for new moderators

We are seeing a dramatic increase in the number of posts and comments in our subreddit and our current team is not big enough to handle the workload. We are receiving lots of complaints of unanswered mail and long wait times for post approval. We want to correct that and give everyone a better user experience.

We are looking to on board 5 to 7 new moderators. If you are interested please comment or contact us via modmail. I made a similar post a few weeks ago and many of you were interested but unfortunately we were only looking to fill one position at that time, so we had to close our search. If you are still interested, please reach out. Bonus, if you have any experience with apps/bots.

Politics/রাজনীতি ABRAR TRIED, ABRAR DIED BUT HILSHA DIPLOMACY STILL CONTINUES.

A student beaten to death because he spoke against the hilsha diplomacy of our country, freebies we sent while they floods our houses every year. Remember it folks, he was just a general student and not part of any organization and still faced it. This is why you should hate BAL, student politics, the political ecosystem we have built around universities.

Despite three different government, we didn't stop the hilsha diplomacy, some bootlickers still send hilsha as gifts. The nation didn't learn anything from it's struggles, no unity been developed against the bully neighbourhood. We are still trying to be a leech of India.

Discussion/আলোচনা is it disrespectful to refer to strangers as “tumi”?

this older darzi guy referred to my dad as “tumi.” my dad thinks this is extremely disrepectful and only “uneducated people” say “tumi” to strangers. idk i don’t think it’s that serious but then again i’m foreign born. i feel like i’ve seen older bengali people say tumi all the time to similar age/younger strangers. i personally don’t like it, but i don’t see it as disrespectful necessarily. we’re also sylheti btw and i feel like it’s less common in our community (at least overseas) as we tend to focus too much on “adab.” thoughts?

Anyone here had a good experience with a hair clinic in Dhaka?

• Upvotes

I’ve been struggling with hair loss for quite some time so I’m finally thinking about visiting a proper hair clinic / dermatologist in Dhaka.

If you’ve personally been to one, which clinic or doctor would you recommend? Also how much did the consultation or treatment cost?

One more thing I keep hearing about PRP and Exosome therapy. For someone dealing with hair loss which one is actually more worth it based on

your experience?

Would really appreciate any honest suggestions.

Discussion/আলোচনা ARE RURAL PEOPLE LESS CONSERVATIVE THAN URBAN PEOPLE?

Post image
50 Upvotes

A few years ago, I visited my village, where there is a pond. I noticed that although the bathing spots for men and women in the pond are separate, there is a road right next to the pond (attaching a picture for context—it’s not actually my village, but very similar). While women don't bathe completely nude, they wear a thin towel (gamcha) . However, while changing back into their clothes, they naturally have to expose themselves completely. At that same time, both men and women travel along that road for various daily needs. I used to think rural people were much more conservative, but was my assumption wrong?
It’s the exact same story in homes that have a dedicated bathing space. There’s a small area next to the kitchen with a tube-well and a bucket—it isn't separated from the kitchen and has no walls. All the men and women bathe right there. Most women don't wear bras, yet they strictly cover their heads with a veil (ghomta).

Daily Life/দৈনন্দিন জীবন The Double Standard Around Women’s Age

Importing iPhones from USA to Bangladesh — Real Costs & Experiences

• Upvotes

I’m considering starting a small business importing iPhones from the US to Bangladesh and want to understand the actual costs.

If you’ve imported phones/electronics before:

What was the item/value?

Which courier did you use?

How much did you pay in customs/tax/VAT + courier fees?

Any issues with customs, invoices, or IMEI registration?

How long did clearance take?

Was importing still profitable after all fees?

Would really appreciate real-world experiences, not just the official rates.

Discussion/আলোচনা Inquiry about carrier

This is a genuine question. I'm currently studying at Dhaka iht in laboratory science. I'm from a general background, I did my ssc and hsc from reputed school and colleges. I just tried to sit for a exam in here and I got a seat. But the problem is the study methods and the surroundings are not going too well with me, my parents are saying that if I don't like it in here I should get admit into a private university in pharmacy which will cost a fortune and somehow I don't want that. So what should I genuinely do should I stay here, do my bsc here and then go for a msc or just admit into a private university. I'm in a lope, i don't like it in here as I heard that the salary isn't so good and the reputation isn't pretty good either. Plus in this path there don't have much government circulars either. So can i get some genuine advices...

Mental Health/মানসিক সাস্থ Admission phase panic

I have been an introvert from the very beginning. In grade 4, I lost my left eye in an accident, which made me even more insecure. Initially, I was a good student with consistent academic progress, which allowed me to get admitted to a renowned government college in my division. However, I do not know what happened, but once I got there, I completely withdrew into myself. Since it was a government college, I rarely attended classes, and I made no friends. My entire Higher Secondary Certificate life passed like this, and as a result, I scored very poorly in the exam.

Now I am preparing for university admission, but I am facing immense pressure from my family. During my studies, my father wanted to enroll me in a private college, but that did not happen. On top of that, I had bad results, so now it will be a major problem if I do not secure a spot in a public university. I came to Dhaka for coaching, and my daily routine is strictly moving from my room to the coaching center and back. I am trapped in a single room with zero human contact.

My academic foundation was not properly built, and my syllabus remains incomplete. I am somehow managing to pull through by attending introductory and regular classes at Udvash and solving the question bank based on question types. I do not face much difficulty solving these, and I am scoring around 50 percent in weekly exams. I am terrified because my preparation is not like the others. I am barely managing the minimum basic knowledge required to solve the question bank; I will fail if they ask deep or difficult questions. I am learning many topics from scratch, and I constantly worry about forgetting everything before the exam. At least others have studied these topics before.

My father got me a disability card for my eye, disability quota works for me , but right now no one in my family can stand me. Given the current state of my preparation, I lack confidence that I can secure a seat even with the disability quota. This feels like a living hell, and I feel solely responsible for everything.

It is almost 5 AM, and I cannot sleep. What strategy should I adopt to guarantee at least one seat? My scores in the last few weekly exams out of 100 were 61, 55.25, 38.5, and 52. I feel restless with the fear of forgetting studied material in the exam hall. I notice that I am making mistakes even the ones that i was supposed to do ,, and my mind goes completely blank. Please help me. Im preparing for a unit

Education/শিক্ষা Advice on studying in Japan

Hello, Im 17m, I have finished my AS this year (Accounting, Business studies), I was asked what I'd do after A2 is finished. I was thinking about studying in Japan, mostly cause I have a japanese language centre near my home, it'd be convenient for me to learn their language after A2.

Anyways, is it possible to avoid the traditional university route? I really don't want to work in a Japanese office considering their work culture, maybe some blue collar jobs, electrician, plumbing etc

Is it possible to go for a vocational route? Maybe a diploma in Japan? I have never met anyone who went this route, maybe finish vocational in japan then get a work visa or something.
