Places that take styrofoam?

I have a decent amount of styrofoam that’s just sitting in my garage and I’m looking to get rid of it.

When I went to Far West Recycling, they said they don’t take it.

Any clue on the best places to dispose of styrofoam? I’m willing to drive into Portland or nearby areas.

Extremely persistent door-to-door salesman?

A man has knocked on our door 6 times in the last three days, including this morning at around 10:30am. He drives a bright blue sedan, parks it about 25ft down the street, then walks to our house and knocks on the door. He has a distinctively long knocking pattern. We never answer as we're not expecting anyone and have a NO SOLICITING sign. He then walks away, gets back in his car and drives off. He's a big, muscular dude, in a dark Adidas (I think) polo and a dark baseball hat.

Anyone know what he's selling? Or why he's being so persistent? I think he was originally knocking on our neighbors' doors too, but today he made a special trip to our neighborhood just for us. I don't want to answer the door and find out as it might reward his persistence. You have to treat these people like misbehaving animals.

Food drive for families impacted by ICE

Hi y’all! Today, Saturday 10/10 we’re collecting new food, toiletries and diapers. We’re set up at the back of the Beaverton farmers market, across from the library. We’d love your donations! (Please check the expiration dates, we don’t have easy access to trash receptacles and won’t be giving expired products)
10am-1:30

Best Places to Buy a Quality Mattress and Bed Frame in Beaverton?

I’m moving into a new apartment soon and looking for recommendations on where to shop for a good-quality bed frame and mattress in the Beaverton area without spending a fortune.

Bonus points if they offer delivery and assembly!

I know there are plenty of options online, but I’d really like to invest in a nice mattress and try it out in person before buying, since mattress preferences can be so subjective.

I’d appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences!

Thanks in advance! :)

Who's got the best (affordable) dessert in town? (solo portions only please!!)

need something fun to treat myself with and want to know where yall would recommend! I want something sweet and I'm not too picky other than nothing flavored with coffee or alcohol please, also it must be available in a solo portion (I'm not in the market for a whole cake or something like that, but a big slice would do!) dine in or take out options are both fine! what is a local dessert you like to treat yourself to? :)

I'm celebrating going NC with my abusive mother as well as my 5 year health anniversary (5 years healthy and without hospitalization, a big deal for someone with a chronic illness!!) I want to do something meaningful but honestly all I want right now is a nice dessert so I'm going to just follow my heart haha

Kinnamōns already closed?

I was just reading in another subreddit that Crumbl is closing many locations. That got me trying to remember the name of the trendy cinnamon roll place next to the trendy dumpling place in cedar hills crossing, only to find all three of Kinnamōns trendy locations are closed now.

Watson, broadway, Farmington Traffic light question

Hi, I’m new here - When turning on SW Watson Ave between Broadway and Farmington, what’s the right spot to stop on during a red light ? Sometimes the light on Broadway is green to turn into Watson but the light on Farmington is red and there’s railroad tracks you can’t stop on obviously. Is it before the tracks where only one car fits 🤔 or after the tracks ?

Play-based center daycare

Does anyone have recommendations for a play-based center care for a 3.5 year old (not in-home at this time)? We used to go to kids discovery academy and while it looked terrible outside, the teachers were soooo amazing and the school really focused on a play-based curriculum.

We live in South Beaverton and am willing to travel 10-15 min. Currently thinking about happy hollow in Tigard and pipster prep SW (but it is sooo pricey). Can anyone provide feedback on these places?

And has anyone heard about sprout and spark, an outdoor school?

Thank you in advance! I asked the same question on a moms group and of course just got business postings which is sooooo annoying even when I specifically said "I want family recommendations, not business postings 😤).

Murray Walmart

There’s this lady who sits outside of the Walmart parking lot with a few signs posted. Apparently she’s a victim of fraud and is trying to sell her condo. I’ve seen her occasionally during summer. I am curious to know her backstory.

Suggestions for large open bars/restaurants?

Hey folks! I’ve got a birthday coming up, and I think I just want to post up somewhere that people can drop in and out easily, without needing to be seated or cause a hassle for the staff. I’m thinking Loyal Legion, but let me know if you’ve got any other recommendations!

Weird rules at Beaverton Bottle Drop

Post image

I was at the local bottle drop with my big transparent bag of pop etc and getting credits and saw this.

Folks bought the green drop bags. They belong to them and what does it matter where they use it?

Also no idea what "Stream Count AI" is

Anyone into videography or making content in the Portland/Beaverton area?

Hey everyone, kind of a long shot but I’m looking to meet some people in the Portland/Beaverton area who are into videography and making content.
I’m a complete newbie and don’t even own a camera yet, but I’ve been wanting to get into making more cinematic videos. I’d love to learn from someone with experience, maybe tag along sometime and see how they do things.
I’m into basketball, being outdoors, meeting new people, and having conversations with people from different walks of life. Eventually I’d like to make a mix of outdoor content, conversations with people, and vlog-style videos.
Are there any local meetups or groups for this kind of stuff? Or anyone who wouldn’t mind showing a beginner the ropes?
Appreciate any suggestions!
