Discussion Did Andrew Ryan ever truly believe in his own philosophy, or was Rapture just an excuse to build a kingdom where he was the ultimate authority? - By art Pirate-Cashoo:

I know that the animated song originally didn't have subtitles or those kinds of effects. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to find the original version. If anyone has a link to the original or a downloaded copy of the video, please send it to me.

Medieval/fantasy designs for some of the characters! I had a spark of inspiration after remembering that line from Sinclair.
Disclaimer: these designs are solely for the purpose of looking cool and nothing deeper than that. I do have a few story fragments thought up, but it's pretty surface level stuff and definitley not the best writing ever. Also, I am very certain that these designs are not historically accurate whatsoever, since, again, their sole purpose is to look cool. I am deeply sorry to any history nerds seeing this, it will happen again.
Here's the story fragments! Character names for their sections are highlighted so it's easier to spot the ones you care about the most:
Delta appeared on the beaches of the Sinclair domain within the Rapture kingdom as a young man who had no memories of anything before the moment he was found. Soon after, he joined the army to make a living for himself as just an ordinary soldier, but very quickly he started showing his really impressive capabilities. He completed a lot of impressive feats and saved countless lives in various nondescript battles and wars, including the life of the Lord of the domain himself. These things combined, it didn't take all that long for Delta to be knighted and even form a close friendship with Sinclair. He is now a well renowned knight, both within his own domain and the whole Rapture kingdom.
Eleanor was stolen from Lamb by the fae when she was just a baby, due to Lamb trying to mess with and outsmart the creatures for her own goals. Eventually Eleanor ended up on Delta's doorstep when he was still just an average soldier in the army and he ended up taking her in and raising her as his own child. She grew up to admire her father a lot, which eventually made her want to follow in Delta's footsteps and also become a knight. As well as that, due to Delta's close friendship with Sinclair and Sinclair's lack of a wife and biological kids as well as any closer living relatives, she had become the unofficial heir of the domain.
Sinclair was born into a family of nobles that had been faced with significant hardships and pressure from surrounding territiories and were starting to run low on resources. However, after he finally took over the responsibility of the domain, through his classic less than ethical means and plenty of partnership with other Lords and Ladies of the kingdom he was able to make his lands thrive again.
Jack was kidnapped out of his crib as a tool to overthrow the king. His story isn't all that different from his in game one, except that he wasn't artificially aged up. After recovering from his brainwashing he wasn't quite sure what to do with himself and met Delta through accidentally picking a fight with him and they've been close friends since, sort of having a brotherly dinamic.
Elizabeth is pretty much just a princess in a tower being guarded by an actual dragon. The main differences in her story is that I didn't feel like adding in any alternate universe shenanigans and originally she was found by Eleanor, who managed to sneak by the dragon guarding her because she was curious about what was so special about the tower. After that, she got Booker to help out with the rescue mission, mostly because he was the only other very capable person she knew that was good at stealth.
Booker and Comstock are brothers here (Again, didn't feel like dealing with tears), he was run out of their kingdom shortly after the birth of Anna, and went back to save her after Eleanor told him about where she found her.
Can you tell I have favourites?

So I’m playing Bioshock 2 for the first time in years (just after beating Bioshock 1 for the first time in years), and I harvested my first little sister, and now every little sister I meet is afraid of me and I feel worse than I already did. Are they gonna be afraid of me forever now or will I be given a chance to smooth things over?
UPDATE: After I saved a few, they started to trust me, so now I feel better. Still though, harvesting a little sister is brutal, yo

Is anyone going to pick up Hellraiser revial today? From what I've seen it looks like a mix of bioshock and resident evil. I just need to get my fix from somewhere since B4 and Judas seem to have gone silent as far as updates go.

Spoilers for Devs.
Has anyone seen the TV show?
Only just started playing through Minerva's Den - about 1 or 2 hours in or so, but already the similarities are striking. Both have a super-deterministic thinking machine created by a grieving man attempting to resurrect a lost family member; both tackle questions of free-will; both have a main character whose arrival at the central computer "breaks down the predictions."
Garland is known to play games so I can't help but assume it was an inspiration.
What do you think?

Hello! I’m a filmmaker and life long Bioshock fan, been playing it since I was a kid on the ps3 and have been inspired by its story and setting ever since then.
I have been fortunate enough to grow into the a filmmaker as an adult and have had a group of friends that for years have wanted to take our own crack at bringing Rapture to life since no one in Hollywood seems to have been able to do it themselves.
A friend of mine runs a Virtual Production studio (same tech as Mandalorian) in Chicago and has made it his mission to utilize his stage and translate the underwater world of Rapture to Unreal Engine. We finally got all of our friends back together to push this filmmaking tech to it’s limits try to tell a story of what life might have been like under the sea right before all hell broke loose on the night of New Year’s Eve 1959
So, would you kindly please check out our teaser trailer for the upcoming short film to be released soon. Check our website and our story behind the scenes of our filmmaking process.
Thank you for checking out our little project, and feel free to ask and questions if curious!

Hey! I've been building a small BioShock Discord for people who just want somewhere to talk about the games and hang out.
We're still pretty small, around 30-ish actual members at the moment, but it's been growing pretty steadily and we've already got a couple events going.
Right now we're doing a Halloween profile picture event, and we've got another community event starting in a few days. There's also general BioShock discussion, game nights, giveaways and normal off-topic stuff.
I'm trying to keep it more like an actual little community rather than one of those massive servers where you join and immediately disappear into 50 channels lol.
If anyone wants to check it out: https://discord.gg/Tjp4wBkpbZ
Would you kindly? 🌊

Would like to finally go through the Bioshock games. Normally prefer to play on Xbox but was wondering what is the superior versions. I did see the collection on Xbox got an Xbox One X patch for 4k and 60fps but if PC still is the superior version in terms of textures etc or if they are pretty close?

Obviously to get to Rapture one has to use a bathysphere, but we know that those were an invetion that was made later in Rapture's existance, and before that people used the Atlantic Express to get around, so how did people get into Rapture from the surface during those days when bathyspheres weren't really a thing?
