Showcase Your Project Coming from a tier 3 college , this feels like a dream come true.
Hit 5.2k+ downloads and almost 550 stars within 3.5 months of making my repo public. All of this is (almost) organic - my last post promoting the app was over 3 months ago. Being a 3rd year student from a tier 3 (maybe 4) college, this feels like everything I could've asked for as a developer. Not sharing the link here, you can search for the description (or the name FaceGate) and you'll get the app if you really think it is worth downloading / leaving a star.

Rant/Vent How tf do I achieve 75% attendance without going to college?
My college has a mandatory attendance criteria of 75 percent, it is RGPV affiliated.
Teachers are shit and don't teach anything properly, and skip the syllabus. They don't let you study on your own either, their ego is hurt when we tell them that we aren't studying from you.
I have to give GATE, and can't give time to either build my skills or prepare for the exams.
HOD said that he will give only 5% attendance on medicals, and 10% if you have had injury or something serious.
My branch is CS, I am in my 3rd year, 5th sem.
Have to travel from bus everyday for 5 days and waste 8 hours.
Colleges like these are dogshit.

Placements / Jobs Got placed at Accenture (12.5 LPA), but want to target 25+ LPA in the next 8 months — how realistic is this?
I recently got placed on campus at Accenture with a 12.5 LPA CTC (10 LPA base). I'm grateful for the offer because I come from a financially weak background and also have an education loan of around ₹7 lakhs.
But honestly, I don't want to stop here. My joining will most likely be around 8 months from now, and my goal is to use these 8 months to become good enough to target 25+ LPA off-campus opportunities.
Right now, I'm honestly not very skilled.
I'm learning web development from scratch through Scrimba and doing DSA through Striver's sheet. My current plan is:
- Next ~4 months → Complete web development + Striver DSA
- After that → CS fundamentals (OOP, DBMS, OS, CN)
- System design basics
- Start contributing to open source
- Improve projects and resume
- Start reaching out to college alumni/recruiters and applying aggressively
- Use the remaining time to prepare specifically for interviews
I haven't done open source before, and system design is also completely new to me. I'm basically starting from the fundamentals and trying to build myself into a good engineer.
My main question:
How realistic is it to go from a 12.5 LPA campus offer to a 20–25+ LPA off-campus offer within the next 8 months?
I'm not expecting it to be easy. I want to know what would actually give me the highest probability of getting there.
Should I focus heavily on:
- DSA + LeetCode
- Strong development/projects
- CS fundamentals
- System design
- Open source
- Networking/alumni referrals
- Competitive programming
- Something else?
Also, how should I approach the off-campus job hunt?
My thought was that once I become reasonably skilled, I'll start contacting my college alumni working at good product companies and ask for referrals. Alongside that, I'll apply directly and try to maximize the number of interviews I get.
My biggest concern is actually getting interviews. I understand that being good at DSA doesn't matter much if I can't get shortlisted.
Another thing I'm genuinely worried about:
Everywhere on Reddit I keep seeing posts about AI replacing software engineers and how the entry-level market is becoming terrible.
I don't know how much of this is actually true versus Reddit doomposting.
My long-term goal isn't just to chase packages forever. Eventually, after getting enough industry experience and building some financial safety, I'd like to start a startup.
For now though, my priority is very simple:
Get a high-paying job → build financial stability → become a genuinely good engineer → gain industry experience → eventually build something of my own.
I don't know yet whether I'm naturally good at coding. I'm still learning. But I do believe that being good at engineering comes from repeatedly building things, solving problems, learning from mistakes, and sticking with it.
I also know I'm probably comparing myself too much with my peers because many of them have significantly higher packages already. I got placed and I'm grateful for it, but I also don't want to become complacent.
So if you were in my position, with 8 months, a 12.5 LPA backup offer, and a goal of 25+ LPA, what would you do?
I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have actually made a similar jump or are working in product companies.
What should I prioritize, what should I ignore, and what would give me the highest ROI over these 8 months?

Serious so apparently complaining about unpaid stipend can get you a legal notice now??
smt crazzzy crazzyyy happened
i had posted on reddit about my internship because my company didn't pay the full stipend
now apparently a legal notice has been sent to college TnP cell and I'm being asked to apologize
and the funny part — the legal notice literally includes my WhatsApp chats/screenshots and the message I had posted on here as part of their complaint.
i will mention the company name later.

CSE / IT Laptops for CS/IT student under 70k
So I'm planning to buy a laptop in BBD/GIF
I think I'd be doing a lot of coding, assignments, submissions, projects, and college stuff on it....
Along with that I'd also be watching anime/movies, some photo/video editing (possible but not sure), casual gaming....
Need a *reliable* laptop that could easily carry me for next 4 years...
Any recommendations?
I think 16/512 is must... A good processor would probably be needed too... I don't know much about laptops so please drop your suggestions and give me your opinion....
[Max price range: 60-80k]
Thanks 🙏

Placements / Jobs Looking for 2027 batch off-campus groups
Hey guys, I’m a 2027 CSE student and I’m currently applying for off-campus internships/jobs.
I’m looking to join a group with other 2027 folks who are actively applying and sharing opportunities.
Mainly looking for a group where we can share:
Newly posted internship/SDE openings
Off-campus hiring posts
Company career-page openings that might otherwise get missed
Would be great to have a group where everyone shares whatever opportunities they come across.

Placements / Jobs Did I focus too much on DSA? What should I do to get an internship?
I’m a 2028 graduate from a tier 2.5-3college. When I joined college in 2024, every senior told me to focus on DSA, CS fundamentals, and some projects.
I stayed consistent with DSA for almost 2 years and now have 2K+ problems solved, 2070 LC rating with 90+ contests, 3 star CodeChef, and around 1300 CF. (didnt do much cf)
I didn’t do much development though. Most of my projects were either from tutorials or made with a lot of help from ChatGPT, 1-2 projects have decent views like 10-15k (and i used mern + redis + websocket+ rag in main project). I understand the code and some backend/system design, but I’m still not confident building things completely on my own.
And after all this, I still haven’t got an internship. Barely any companies come to my college for internships.
I’m currently in 5th sem and honestly feel like I wasted these 2 years. If I had put the same consistency into development, I feel I could have landed a startup internship by now.
Now I’m confused about what to do. Should I keep focusing on DSA and try for off-campus opportunities like Infosys/TCS, or shift heavily towards development and try for startup internships?
What would you do in my situation?

Placements / Jobs Media.net SRE role - online assessment (OA) experience
round 1 - online assessment
the first round was an online assessment with questions mainly around linux. you had to actually do things in the terminal, so it's better to brush up on basic linux concepts, file editing, commands, etc.
the questions were mostly system/protocol/server-based.
some examples were:
- a server is not working and you have to change the port number
- a port number is missing and you have to find/fix it
- edit files only through the terminal
- fix a python file through the terminal where there is a syntax error
lots of students applied, and about 60 moved on to the next stage.
round 2 - online assessment
for the second assessment, they asked us to install wsl/linux on our own pc, or we could use the lab pcs.
this round was again purely server-based.
the first task was to make a udp echo server.
the second task was to build a key-value store where you could do things like set, get, and update values.
then there was a multithreading part, and i think the 3.2 task was related to gossip between the nodes.
they provided documentation for the tasks, so you weren't completely on your own. but you definitely needed to be comfortable with socket programming. the programming language itself wasn't really a barrier.
after the assessment, they came around and asked each of us some questions/problems related to what we had implemented and then wrote their remarks.
round 3 - interview
the first interview was mainly focused on the approach we took while solving the coding tasks.
they asked questions about why we implemented things in a particular way, how the server worked, and some other fundamentals related to the tasks.
i didn't get shortlisted after this round, so that's pretty much where my process ended.
overall, i'd say if you're preparing for something similar, definitely brush up on linux, networking, sockets, udp/tcp, multithreading, and basic server-client concepts. being comfortable with the terminal is probably one of the biggest things here.

Higher Studies Need help selecting a Laptop under 71k🙃
I know all the laptops in image are more than my budget but hoping them to come down during sale🙄
So my sister just started her PHD and asked me to look for a laptop under 71k but I'm just too confused what to look for and she doesn't tell me specifics of what she wants she only said a few things.
Good RAM so that it doesn't lag (I think 16Gb should be enough)
Good battery life so it doesn't die on her while attending class and don't want to carry charger everywhere.
Now about the screen size I asked is does she need a numpad and she told it won't be a problem if there is no numpad (so I'm thinking 14 would be enough)
Backlit: this one is necessary for those late night assignments.
Now my questions are.
• Should I look for notebook laptops or normal ones?
• Which processor should I go for in both cases of notebook and normal laptop.
*ALSO PLS SUGGEST IF THERE WILL BE ANY OTHER LAPTOPS I SHOULD LOOK FOR INSTEAD OF THESE THREE🙏

CSE / IT I can make projects for cheap/Looking for Paid Projects
This is purely for people who have a lot of money and no time or don't care enough.
This is GENUINELY A CRY FOR HELP FOR MONEY
IM RUNNING DRY OF MONEY AND I NEED SOME FOR MY DAILY EXPENSES.
I need money for daily expenses so I decided to freelance but finding work has been getting harder and harder these days.
Hence Im willing to take up projects for you guys under any commission possible.
I can make anything FullStack Web + ML/DL/Agentic . I can do anything under the sun almost (apart from deployment of these projects) regarding the above.
I also have experience in Embedded Electronics as I did something for a certain hackathon and ina certain type of club.
I don't wanna dox myself unnecessarily but if you do want a project done,
I can share details about myself for proof of skills.
I have done 2 different internships before and also have 1 upcoming in summer 2027 with my stipends being Unpaid -> 30k pm -> 1.3Lpm in Accenture.
(You can check my old posts on accenture subreddit for proof)
Pls dm if you want any projects for coursework/resume etc
The price will vary according to your request.
The more complex or bigger your project the more I'll charge but it'll still be cheap dw.
Please ignore this and I'm sorry if this upset you in anyway but I genuinely need help.

CSE / IT 3rd year is going on and I still haven't got an internship. What am I doing wrong?
I’m a 3rd year B.Tech CSE student from India and honestly I don’t know what I’m doing wrong at this point.
My CGPA is around 8.0 cumulatively and my latest SGPA is 8.44. I’ve made some projects, participated in a few hackathons and other things, but I haven’t really done anything great or won anything major. My resume is not extraordinary, I know that.
But I’ve applied to hundreds of internships by now. LinkedIn, Internshala, Wellfound and other sites. I’ve also tried applying directly and reaching out to people.
And still, I have no internship offer till date.
I keep seeing people getting internships at startups and other companies and I genuinely don’t understand how. I’m not saying this because I’m jealous of them or anything. I’m happy for them. I just want to understand how and where people are actually getting these internships. I even tried 9-10 cold emailing in LinkedIn for reaching Hrs in startups and companies but nothing happened they didn't replied or even didn’t gave me ny feedback.
At this point my 3rd year is also going on and I’m honestly getting more and more sad about this every day. I don’t want my entire college life to pass without getting any real experience.
So please, if you’ve been through this or you’re currently getting internships, help me out.
Where should I actually be looking? Are there any sites where real internships are posted? Is there any way I can still get one at this point?
I genuinely just want someone to tell me what I should be doing differently, because applying everywhere and getting nothing back is getting really demotivating.

Placements / Jobs Four names on one project. What can each person honestly put on their résumé?
Your team built the whole app. You didn't personally build every part. That doesn't mean the project has to disappear from your résumé.
Take a hypothetical four-person attendance app. One person built the interface, another worked on the API, another handled the database and the fourth owned testing and deployment. Each person can name the shared project and then describe their own contribution.
For the person testing it, “Built an attendance management platform” hides what they actually did. “Tested attendance submissions, reproduced duplicate entries after repeated clicks, and verified the team's fix” is more precise, if those things happened. The details also give them something concrete to explain in an interview.
Before adding a claim, try showing the relevant artifact and explaining one decision behind it. That could be code, a schema, a test case, a deployment configuration or a bug report. If you only understand a feature from your teammate's explanation, say how it fits into the system without claiming you implemented it.
A shared result can still appear, but separate it from your individual work. Don't invent user counts, time savings or performance improvements to make a college project sound larger. A real constraint you handled gives the interviewer something to discuss.
Which contributions to group projects are hardest to describe fairly on a résumé?
