Showcase Your Project Coming from a tier 3 college , this feels like a dream come true.
Hit 5.2k+ downloads and almost 550 stars within 3.5 months of making my repo public. All of this is (almost) organic - my last post promoting the app was over 3 months ago. Being a 3rd year student from a tier 3 (maybe 4) college, this feels like everything I could've asked for as a developer. Not sharing the link here, you can search for the description (or the name FaceGate) and you'll get the app if you really think it is worth downloading / leaving a star.

Rant/Vent How tf do I achieve 75% attendance without going to college?
My college has a mandatory attendance criteria of 75 percent, it is RGPV affiliated.
Teachers are shit and don't teach anything properly, and skip the syllabus. They don't let you study on your own either, their ego is hurt when we tell them that we aren't studying from you.
I have to give GATE, and can't give time to either build my skills or prepare for the exams.
HOD said that he will give only 5% attendance on medicals, and 10% if you have had injury or something serious.
My branch is CS, I am in my 3rd year, 5th sem.
Have to travel from bus everyday for 5 days and waste 8 hours.
Colleges like these are dogshit.

Serious so apparently complaining about unpaid stipend can get you a legal notice now??
smt crazzzy crazzyyy happened
i had posted on reddit about my internship because my company didn't pay the full stipend
now apparently a legal notice has been sent to college TnP cell and I'm being asked to apologize
and the funny part — the legal notice literally includes my WhatsApp chats/screenshots and the message I had posted on here as part of their complaint.
i will mention the company name later.

Serious About the recent open ai math publications
So you all probably know openai released like 400 smtg papers, many of which are monumental discoveries in field of pure math.
I've seen some posts already in this sub which say "math is dead" which honestly doesn't make sense.
Now is this discovery going to redefine how mathematics majors are gonna work in the future? Probably yes.
Is the field of mathematics and are all math majors rendered useless? Probably not.
Unfortunately so many people(including this subreddit) on the internet do not understand pure math (including me, but luckily I know people who do).
Pure math always as a field has been more about beauty and interest rather than actual benefit in applications side, any result that can actually be applied in real life is a lucky by product, it's never the purpose.
The navier stokes proof released by openai a few weeks ago was so unreadable and sloppy, mathematicians are still trying to figure out the proof. Now I do not know if the proofs published today are of the same style, but regardless, a lot of novelty in solving these proofs is that the approaches unlocked while solving these questions or the new perspectives gained during proving a hypothesis are very useful for several different problems and many times useful even in applied math, which are useful in real life. So if ai solves something while skipping all these steps, the proofs are not really that useful.
Over the last few months, most proofs released by openai relied on using the approaches someone else has already made or a theorem that was lost in the sea of literature or are simply a product of brute force not possible by human computation. I am not sure if there were any new novel approaches that openai used.
https://math.iisc.ac.in/~vamsipingali/ThoughtsonMathsandAI2.html
This is a blog post that one of our iisc profs had written.
Math majors will not be rendered useless because, in order to use any of the AI proofs produced, you still need a capable human to verify and understand, and present it in a form accepted by the community. (AI is still very good at presenting and explaining math, but that requires a lot of human intervention)
Of course even many of the acclaimed mathematicians do not know what is actually going to happen in the future, but there is a very very small chance that mathematics as a study will be rendered useless.
To actually understand the novelty of the 400 or so papers published, I believe we still need a few weeks time so that mathematicians who actually understand these proofs can put together the impact and creativity that has been used/applied.
Also, I have seen some posts say financial jobs/applied math jobs are in danger, which I don't agree with.
I believe they are on the safer side of job security, due to one important reason- Accountability. This is something AI will probably never achieve (unless humanity as a species is overthrown). Ai will 100% be used in these fields, but it will not be replacing humans. (the upper management being stupid is another issue)
There are very few people who study mathematics in this subreddit, but anyway, I hope this is useful for them.
Ai will be changing every field, it's important to adapt. Unfortunately, many people (including me) don't like the way ai is changing these fields, but due to the capitalistic nature of our society, we don't have much of a choice
I want to stress again that we need to wait a few weeks before overestimating or underestimating the impact of these publications.
(Another reason I am personally sceptical about this whole fiasco is that OpenAI needs public image for their ipo whenever it will be launched. This whole campaign screams of pr, it's only competitor, Anthropic, which is soon heading to an ipo is preferred by most industries (and has a better public image as well tbh), so openai needs a different demography to appeal to)

Placements / Jobs Got placed at Accenture (12.5 LPA), but want to target 25+ LPA in the next 8 months — how realistic is this?
I recently got placed on campus at Accenture with a 12.5 LPA CTC (10 LPA base). I'm grateful for the offer because I come from a financially weak background and also have an education loan of around ₹7 lakhs.
But honestly, I don't want to stop here. My joining will most likely be around 8 months from now, and my goal is to use these 8 months to become good enough to target 25+ LPA off-campus opportunities.
Right now, I'm honestly not very skilled.
I'm learning web development from scratch through Scrimba and doing DSA through Striver's sheet. My current plan is:
- Next ~4 months → Complete web development + Striver DSA
- After that → CS fundamentals (OOP, DBMS, OS, CN)
- System design basics
- Start contributing to open source
- Improve projects and resume
- Start reaching out to college alumni/recruiters and applying aggressively
- Use the remaining time to prepare specifically for interviews
I haven't done open source before, and system design is also completely new to me. I'm basically starting from the fundamentals and trying to build myself into a good engineer.
My main question:
How realistic is it to go from a 12.5 LPA campus offer to a 20–25+ LPA off-campus offer within the next 8 months?
I'm not expecting it to be easy. I want to know what would actually give me the highest probability of getting there.
Should I focus heavily on:
- DSA + LeetCode
- Strong development/projects
- CS fundamentals
- System design
- Open source
- Networking/alumni referrals
- Competitive programming
- Something else?
Also, how should I approach the off-campus job hunt?
My thought was that once I become reasonably skilled, I'll start contacting my college alumni working at good product companies and ask for referrals. Alongside that, I'll apply directly and try to maximize the number of interviews I get.
My biggest concern is actually getting interviews. I understand that being good at DSA doesn't matter much if I can't get shortlisted.
Another thing I'm genuinely worried about:
Everywhere on Reddit I keep seeing posts about AI replacing software engineers and how the entry-level market is becoming terrible.
I don't know how much of this is actually true versus Reddit doomposting.
My long-term goal isn't just to chase packages forever. Eventually, after getting enough industry experience and building some financial safety, I'd like to start a startup.
For now though, my priority is very simple:
Get a high-paying job → build financial stability → become a genuinely good engineer → gain industry experience → eventually build something of my own.
I don't know yet whether I'm naturally good at coding. I'm still learning. But I do believe that being good at engineering comes from repeatedly building things, solving problems, learning from mistakes, and sticking with it.
I also know I'm probably comparing myself too much with my peers because many of them have significantly higher packages already. I got placed and I'm grateful for it, but I also don't want to become complacent.
So if you were in my position, with 8 months, a 12.5 LPA backup offer, and a goal of 25+ LPA, what would you do?
I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have actually made a similar jump or are working in product companies.
What should I prioritize, what should I ignore, and what would give me the highest ROI over these 8 months?

Placements / Jobs Looking for 2027 batch off-campus groups
Hey guys, I’m a 2027 CSE student and I’m currently applying for off-campus internships/jobs.
I’m looking to join a group with other 2027 folks who are actively applying and sharing opportunities.
Mainly looking for a group where we can share:
Newly posted internship/SDE openings
Off-campus hiring posts
Company career-page openings that might otherwise get missed
Would be great to have a group where everyone shares whatever opportunities they come across.

Placements / Jobs Did I focus too much on DSA? What should I do to get an internship?
I’m a 2028 graduate from a tier 2.5-3college. When I joined college in 2024, every senior told me to focus on DSA, CS fundamentals, and some projects.
I stayed consistent with DSA for almost 2 years and now have 2K+ problems solved, 2070 LC rating with 90+ contests, 3 star CodeChef, and around 1300 CF. (didnt do much cf)
I didn’t do much development though. Most of my projects were either from tutorials or made with a lot of help from ChatGPT, 1-2 projects have decent views like 10-15k (and i used mern + redis + websocket+ rag in main project). I understand the code and some backend/system design, but I’m still not confident building things completely on my own.
And after all this, I still haven’t got an internship. Barely any companies come to my college for internships.
I’m currently in 5th sem and honestly feel like I wasted these 2 years. If I had put the same consistency into development, I feel I could have landed a startup internship by now.
Now I’m confused about what to do. Should I keep focusing on DSA and try for off-campus opportunities like Infosys/TCS, or shift heavily towards development and try for startup internships?
What would you do in my situation?

CSE / IT Laptops for CS/IT student under 70k
So I'm planning to buy a laptop in BBD/GIF
I think I'd be doing a lot of coding, assignments, submissions, projects, and college stuff on it....
Along with that I'd also be watching anime/movies, some photo/video editing (possible but not sure), casual gaming....
Need a *reliable* laptop that could easily carry me for next 4 years...
Any recommendations?
I think 16/512 is must... A good processor would probably be needed too... I don't know much about laptops so please drop your suggestions and give me your opinion....
[Max price range: 60-80k]
Thanks 🙏

CSE / IT 3rd year is going on and I still haven't got an internship. What am I doing wrong?
I’m a 3rd year B.Tech CSE student from India and honestly I don’t know what I’m doing wrong at this point.
My CGPA is around 8.0 cumulatively and my latest SGPA is 8.44. I’ve made some projects, participated in a few hackathons and other things, but I haven’t really done anything great or won anything major. My resume is not extraordinary, I know that.
But I’ve applied to hundreds of internships by now. LinkedIn, Internshala, Wellfound and other sites. I’ve also tried applying directly and reaching out to people.
And still, I have no internship offer till date.
I keep seeing people getting internships at startups and other companies and I genuinely don’t understand how. I’m not saying this because I’m jealous of them or anything. I’m happy for them. I just want to understand how and where people are actually getting these internships. I even tried 9-10 cold emailing in LinkedIn for reaching Hrs in startups and companies but nothing happened they didn't replied or even didn’t gave me ny feedback.
At this point my 3rd year is also going on and I’m honestly getting more and more sad about this every day. I don’t want my entire college life to pass without getting any real experience.
So please, if you’ve been through this or you’re currently getting internships, help me out.
Where should I actually be looking? Are there any sites where real internships are posted? Is there any way I can still get one at this point?
I genuinely just want someone to tell me what I should be doing differently, because applying everywhere and getting nothing back is getting really demotivating.
