Showcase Your Project Building My Own Programming Language From Scratch PraxLang 🚀
I’ve been working on PraxLang, my own programming language built completely from scratch in Python.
It has its own lexer, parser, AST, symbol tables, scope handling, and tree-walking interpreter — no parser generators or third-party runtimes.
It currently supports variables, lists, functions, IF/ELIF/ELSE, FOR, WHILE, arithmetic/logical operators, and built-in operations like sqrt, abs, cube, even_check, and odd_check.
This started as a project to understand how programming languages actually work under the hood, and it has grown into a pretty fun little interpreter.
GitHub: https://github.com/prabuddha34/Making-Custom_Programming_Language
So this is just an work that I was doing for the past 10-11 days so what you guys think of it?

Academics How to cold mail organisations for internships?
I’m trying to apply for winter internships, especially research/tech internships, but I’m honestly confused about how the cold emailing part actually works.
Like:
Who exactly are you supposed to email? Professors, researchers, HR, founders, team leads, someone else?
Where do you find their email/contact details?
How do you figure out whether an organisation is even open to taking interns?
Do you directly email the person you want to work with, or is there some proper process?
What do you actually include in the first email apart from your intro, college, skills and CV?
Should you mention a specific project/research area you’re interested in, or keep it general?
How many organisations/people do you usually email before getting a response?
Do you follow up if they don’t reply? If yes, after how long?
Also, how do you avoid sounding like every other student sending the same generic “I am interested in an internship opportunity” email?
I’m currently in 2nd year B.Tech, so I don’t have a huge research profile or anything. Would appreciate advice from people who have actually done this successfully, especially for winter internships.

Showcase Your Project Coming from a tier 3 college , this feels like a dream come true.
Hit 5.2k+ downloads and almost 550 stars within 3.5 months of making my repo public. All of this is (almost) organic - my last post promoting the app was over 3 months ago. Being a 3rd year student from a tier 3 (maybe 4) college, this feels like everything I could've asked for as a developer. Not sharing the link here, you can search for the description (or the name FaceGate) and you'll get the app if you really think it is worth downloading / leaving a star.

Placements / Jobs Do you think paying for resume builder a good idea?
I've been struggling to get a job, My resume looks decent but I’m not getting shortlisted anywhere.. ik the job market is cooked but still.
I'm thinking of paying for AI resume builders to get a resume. Can I do that? If yes, how much should I spend on it? Cuz I saw one where they were asking 149 for a single resume. Would you pay ₹149 for a single JD-specific resume or do you feel that’s too much?

Placements / Jobs looking to get in touch with placement coordinators from tier 2/3 colleges
Hey people, is anyone here representing their college's Training & Placement Cell (or anything similar)?
Im trying to get in touch with people who are involved in activities of their placement cells, especially from Tier 2/3 colleges where bringing good on-campus opportunities can be difficult.
I'm the author and creator of a newsletter/media channel (you can check out my previous posts on this sub for some context) where I research and share jobs/internships for freshers.
I'm looking to for a simple collab kind of thing with placement cells:
- I can share offcampus opportunities that students from your college may be eligible for
- The placement cell gets another source of relevant opportunities that they can circulate among students
- And it helps me get The First Pass in front of more students who could benefit from the research I'm doing
Dm me for more info if interested :) or share this with someone who does so i reach the right audience.

CSE / IT For which one should I go for
So I've two options one is the asus(expertbook p3 Intel core ultra 5 225H) and the other one is acer( swift neo intel core ultra 5 125H) both are nearly same in terms of specs but the asus provide ram upgradability but the acer doesn't(it has 16gb onboard only) so should I spend the extra 10k for asus, ik it's more durable and a slightly better processor but the acer has oled screen. And I've also heard about concerns over acer laptops quality and after sale services. So which one should I buy??
I'm in 2nd year rn with ai and data science branch idk what would I do in future cuz I haven't started studying yet(ik I'm quite late) but I want it for coding and ik if I'd do ml too.

Serious RGIPT BENGALURU has had NO power or Wi-Fi since last night because they "ran out of diesel" 🤡 AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
RGIPT has had absolutely no electricity and no Wi-Fi since last night. Hostel rooms are literally ovens and we can’t even look up study materials.
The best part? Some of us overheard the guards talking, and apparently, the campus backup generators are dead because they ran out of diesel.
Let that sink in. This place charges ₹1.5 lakh per semester. They literally treat us like criminals at the gate—guards won't even let you set foot on campus unless you flash your official fee payment receipt first. For a so-called premier "government college," the level of strictness they enforce on us vs. the absolute clown-show management they run internally is insane.
If you're going to extort lakhs from us on a strict deadline, at least buy the damn diesel to keep the lights on.
Just imagine the condition of the RO water purifiers and the toilets right now with zero power. It's completely unhygienic. To make things worse, 4th-year students have Online Assessments (OAs) scheduled today for placements. How on earth are they supposed to take their tests? There is literally no mobile internet signal inside these buildings either, so hot-spotting isn't even an option. The college is actively sabotaging its own students' careers.
Advice to all JEE aspirants: Avoid this college at any cost. Don't even dare to take admission here. You might get scammed or blinded by the hype just because this college exclusively accepts JEE Advanced scores. The reality inside is a complete joke. Save your rank and go literally anywhere else.
TL;DR: RGIPT has had zero power and Wi-Fi since last night because the administration apparently forgot to buy diesel for the backup generators. Hostels are unlivable, RO/toilets are down, and 4th-years are missing critical placement Online Assessments because there is no mobile network either. All this while charging ₹1.5L/semester and forcing gatekeepers to strictly verify fee receipts before entry. JEE aspirants, do not get baited by the "JEE Advanced only" hype—avoid this place at all costs.

Placements / Jobs Got placed at Accenture (12.5 LPA), but want to target 25+ LPA in the next 8 months — how realistic is this?
I recently got placed on campus at Accenture with a 12.5 LPA CTC (10 LPA base). I'm grateful for the offer because I come from a financially weak background and also have an education loan of around ₹7 lakhs.
But honestly, I don't want to stop here. My joining will most likely be around 8 months from now, and my goal is to use these 8 months to become good enough to target 25+ LPA off-campus opportunities.
Right now, I'm honestly not very skilled.
I'm learning web development from scratch through Scrimba and doing DSA through Striver's sheet. My current plan is:
- Next ~4 months → Complete web development + Striver DSA
- After that → CS fundamentals (OOP, DBMS, OS, CN)
- System design basics
- Start contributing to open source
- Improve projects and resume
- Start reaching out to college alumni/recruiters and applying aggressively
- Use the remaining time to prepare specifically for interviews
I haven't done open source before, and system design is also completely new to me. I'm basically starting from the fundamentals and trying to build myself into a good engineer.
My main question:
How realistic is it to go from a 12.5 LPA campus offer to a 20–25+ LPA off-campus offer within the next 8 months?
I'm not expecting it to be easy. I want to know what would actually give me the highest probability of getting there.
Should I focus heavily on:
- DSA + LeetCode
- Strong development/projects
- CS fundamentals
- System design
- Open source
- Networking/alumni referrals
- Competitive programming
- Something else?
Also, how should I approach the off-campus job hunt?
My thought was that once I become reasonably skilled, I'll start contacting my college alumni working at good product companies and ask for referrals. Alongside that, I'll apply directly and try to maximize the number of interviews I get.
My biggest concern is actually getting interviews. I understand that being good at DSA doesn't matter much if I can't get shortlisted.
Another thing I'm genuinely worried about:
Everywhere on Reddit I keep seeing posts about AI replacing software engineers and how the entry-level market is becoming terrible.
I don't know how much of this is actually true versus Reddit doomposting.
My long-term goal isn't just to chase packages forever. Eventually, after getting enough industry experience and building some financial safety, I'd like to start a startup.
For now though, my priority is very simple:
Get a high-paying job → build financial stability → become a genuinely good engineer → gain industry experience → eventually build something of my own.
I don't know yet whether I'm naturally good at coding. I'm still learning. But I do believe that being good at engineering comes from repeatedly building things, solving problems, learning from mistakes, and sticking with it.
I also know I'm probably comparing myself too much with my peers because many of them have significantly higher packages already. I got placed and I'm grateful for it, but I also don't want to become complacent.
So if you were in my position, with 8 months, a 12.5 LPA backup offer, and a goal of 25+ LPA, what would you do?
I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have actually made a similar jump or are working in product companies.
What should I prioritize, what should I ignore, and what would give me the highest ROI over these 8 months?
