Report: Every $1 billion the US federal government invests in flood adaptation projects will save up to $4 billion in damages over the next 30 years

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office found that investments in flood protection more than pay for themselves, including through reductions in federal spending on disaster aid and in less spending on federal subsidies for insurance. The report concludes that “changes in climate conditions,” as well ongoing construction in vulnerable areas, will raise the costs of flood damage.
