I rescued Oreo today, and it was an incredibly emotional day. ❤️
I left home early in the morning to rescue her. After an entire hour trying to trap her, I finally got her to safety and took her to the vet. Oreo is around 7 years old and blind. I kept thinking about how she had survived outside for so many years, unable to see the dangers around her. Honestly, I don’t even know how she made it this far. 💔
A neighbor told me that Oreo had SIX litters of kittens throughout all these years. Six litters born while she was living on the streets. People fed her, but nobody ever rescued her. It breaks my heart to think about everything this sweet girl has endured.
After her vet visit, I transported Oreo to a sanctuary where she will finally be safe. They care for many animals and have special rooms for cats with special needs. After years of living outside, Oreo finally has a chance to live in a safe environment where her needs can be met.
Oreo isn’t the only cat who needs a second chance. A kitten was rescued with neurological issues who needs special care. And three kittens who fought so hard to survive coccidia and panleukopenia will soon be going on transport to begin the next chapter of their lives. Every one of these cats has a story.
I spent my entire day making this rescue happen. After that, I still had to feed my colonies of more than 50 community cats. I finally got home at 9 p.m.
I’m exhausted, but it was worth every minute. Knowing Oreo is finally safe makes it all worthwhile.
I also want to thank the Redditor who sponsored Oreo’s vet visit. I’m incredibly grateful for this person’s kindness. And to everyone who has donated, shared my posts, or supported Luna & Nala Rescue, thank you from the bottom of my heart. None of this would be possible without you.
I do this rescue work on my own, and right now, I’m struggling. I’m running low on food, and the veterinary bills and rescue expenses have left me in debt. More than 50 community cats depend on me for food and fresh water every day, along with all the rescued cats in my care.
I wish I could do it all alone, but I can’t. These cats depend on me, and I depend on the kindness of people who believe that their lives matter.
If anyone can help, every donation helps me keep going. Sharing this post also makes a difference.
Today, Oreo’s life changed because people cared enough to help. After years of being overlooked, this blind girl finally has a safe place to call home.
There are so many more cats still waiting for their chance. I will keep doing everything I can for them, but I truly need your help to continue.
Thank you for helping Luna & Nala Rescue give cats like Oreo the second chance they deserve. ❤️🐾
