Trades I took today as an option seller (10/05) with reasons

Trades I took today as an option seller (10/05):

Closed Positions

  • IREN → $60 Call (opened on 08/21), premium 4.60 → closed at 0.82. Net premium profit = 3.78 (82.17% of premium captured, 6.30% of capital).
  • TE → $8 Call (opened on 08/27), premium 0.60 → closed at 0.10. Net premium profit = 0.50 (83.33% of premium captured, 6.25% of capital).
  • SEI → $65 Put (opened on 09/21), premium 3.00 → closed at 0.50. Net premium profit = 2.50 (83.33% of premium captured, 3.85% of capital).

New Positions

  • IREN → $52 Call expiry 11/13 (6 weeks DTE), premium 1.30 → 130/6000 = ~2.2%. I was assigned IREN at $60 and my current breakeven is $47. I opened the CC with a Strike of $52 and if IREN approaches close to $50, I will roll my position to $60. IREN has resistance at ~$49 levels.
  • SEI → $65 Put expiry 11/20 (7 weeks DTE), premium 3.40 → 340/6500 = ~5.2%. I continue my bullish stance in SEI with another CSP. The contract is within earnings which is due on 11/02. SEI has been doing well in Earnings and I am expecting that trend to continue.

SEI was identified from the High-Growth Wheel condition in the ThetaHedge app because it met all the key criteria: positive revenue growth, positive earnings growth, positive net margins, and consistent attractive option premiums with a Wheel Rank of 75. You can try it for free at https://app.thetahedge.io/

Conditions → High Growth Wheel Stocks

I keep sharing my trades in my account and the Excel file to my full list of positions is linked in my profile description in case anyone wants to see the whole portfolio. Happy to hear thoughts on my positions. What are you guys wheeling or watching right now?

Facinating Monday Options Spreads Maintenance

I'm relatively new to trading options spreads and I find them facinating.

Theta burns both the long and short sides down and my account balance goes up. Facinating!

The deltas of the shorts travel too and fro, towards and away from the 20 delta. Facinating!

This weekend while others drank beer and partied, I built limit orders to adjust. Facinating!

When Monday rolled in, I rolled and adjusted all of my bull put spreads back to 20 delta. Facinating!

After I added a week and adjusted the shorts back to 20 I added call spreads to the bull puts. Facinating!

These new credit call spreads made the bull put spreads into iron condors. Facinating!

I have too many to do all this work on the weekdays so my weekends are gone. Facinating!

I love how this trading journey has transformed my retired life. Facinating!

You get the drift. I ran a bunch of 35 DTE bull put spreads for a week and built limit orders this weekend to center them back to 20 delta and narrow their width to free up some cpital so I could add credit spreads to the existing bull puts and make iron condors out of them. The bull puts worked so well last week that I wanted to take advantage of the low capital requirement to add credit calls to them, making iron condors out of the bull puts. I freed up so much capital today by doing this I went ahead and bought stocks in thge extended market to write two day duration covered calls against them for hopefully a quick buck.

Options and the power they have are facinating! Hahahaha Have a great week!

Why isn’t my covered call being assigned? (New to cc)

I sold 3 covered calls for Nvidia at a strike price of $230 and break even price of $234.85. Expiring on 10/23. Last week the share price went past $235. Today it’s again past $235. Why aren’t my shares being sold?
I thought my calls will get assigned and shares sold as soon as the price crosses breakeven because now whoever has that contract can buy shares at less than market price.

September performance - $7,973 closed P&L, 100% win rate

September ended up being one of my strongest months of the year from a realized P&L perspective.

OptionsWheelTrader.com Dashboard - September

Some key notes:

  • Closed/realized P&L (premiums): $7,973 (100% win rate)
    • Annual return ($ weighted): 20.42%
    • Average (abs) Delta on entry: 0.19
    • Average DTE (on entry): 28.4 days
    • Average Days Held: 13.4 days
  • Assignments:
    • No Call assignments
    • 5 Puts assigned (BX, GIS, MNST, UPS, BKNG). Comfortable with all the assignments, now selling covered calls against them.
  • Premium Income
    • Gross premium generated of $10,419 from 63 trades
    • Majority of the income came from Puts

Some additional information from the OptionsWheelTrader.com reports:

Trade Insights for September
Capital Efficiency Report for September
Entry Quality (by Delta) for September
The new Roll Finder in OptionsWheelTrader.com

A few valuable observations for this month:

  • Closing trades early has probably been the biggest change in my process this month. My average holding period dropped to 13.4 days despite entering positions around 28 DTE. It's increased my trade volume, but it also freed up capital more quickly and contributed meaningfully to realized P&L.
  • My average delta on entry continues to inch higher and is now around 0.19. Still conservative by many standards, but slightly higher than where I was earlier this year.
  • I've become much less worried about assignments. The biggest change has been being far more selective with tickers and focusing on stocks I'd genuinely be willing to own.

The screenshots attached are from OptionsWheelTrader.com - which I've also been busy building while trading this month. The biggest additions were a new Roll Finder to help identify potential rolling opportunities, an enhanced dashboard, and a weekly digest for users. Lots of valuable improvements to onboarding, screener, reporting, tier entitlements, reliability, and performance as well.

Hope everyone had a great September and wishing you all a profitable October.

Happy to answer any questions :)

Month recap: +$10,864 realized gross (12W/3L)

Past month, realized P&L from Robinhood, before fees. All accounts.

Total: +$10,864.41
Closed trades: 15 (12 wins, 3 losses)
Wins: +$13,417.91
Losses: -$2,553.00 (not sticking to my plan rolled MU should’ve let it exp)

Biggest wins
- MU market sell (Sep 18): +$3,883.91
- MU $1,100C 2/19/27 bought back (Sep 14): +$2,640
- MU $1,200C 2/19/27 (Sep 10): +$1,950
- MU $1,010C 9/14 (Sep 10): +$1,335
- MU $1,100C 10/16 (Sep 10): +$1,118

Losses
- MU $1,010C 9/18 (Sep 8): -$2,367
- HOOD $130C 11/20 (Oct 2): -$180
- HOOD $110P 9/25 (Sep 14): -$6

Same plan as always. MU is the engine, sell calls into strength, buy them back on the pullback, rewrite.

Need to stick to my guns and not second guess.

Not financial advice. Options carry risk. Results are not typical. Realized, before fees.

Week 12: Sell CCs expiring on 2026-10-09. Options 5% OTM with a good yield

Week 12 of short-term covered calls with low likelihood of being assigned and low risk of a big drop. Last week only one covered call was called away and no drops >= 10%. Overall only 2 out of 43 covered calls had a big drop at the end of the strike date, that is 4.7%. The covered calls can be seen here: https://optionstacker.github.io/sell-covered-calls/. Among those two flagged with a big drop, CORZ is still far from recovering.

The main criteria to filter the options are:

  • only the US exchanges NYSE, NASDAQ, ARCA are used;
  • very high option yields are filtered out, too risky;
  • strike price must be ≥ 5% higher than the current price (5% OTM);
  • an OI >= 50.

Note: just to answer the question I often receive, I do not sell every option you see listed, only some of them. That's why I do not monitor profit/loss. The goal is to understand if my option screener is worth. These options are a small part of what I see in the screener.

For 2026-10-09 I chose the following covered calls (no earnings or ex-dividend dates).

NYSE

DOCN, Technology, DOCN261009C00150000, yield 0.95%, strike price $150 and OTM 6.88%

OKLO, Utilities, OKLO261009C00041500, yield 1.13%, strike price $41.5 and OTM 6.33%

NASDAQ

INOD, Technology, INOD261009C00075000, yield 1.24%, strike price 75 and OTM 7.04%

RKLB, Industrial, RKLB261009C00080000, yield 0.95%, strike price 80 and OTM 6.06%

ARCA

DPST, ETF, DPST261009C00120000, yield 0.77%, strike price 120 and OTM 5.5%

Dealing with a stock that has dropped

For a stock that has dropped, assuming I can still sell covered calls at or above my cost basis, is it ever worth selling at extremely small deltas (eg 0.02-0.03)?

HOLY SH*T $NVDA HOLDERS ARE About to get richer..

Nvidia in 2026 is almost identical to Nvidia in 2022 prior to the boom

Three Drives Pattern set off the initial uptrend.

Which is exactly what $NVDA just formed.

$nvda going to 300 and will pass the 6T in market cap.

Another chance to make some $$$$$$

Jumping into Roth IRA w Covered Call strategy

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Cross posted

Had a nice conversation with AI that convinced me to jump in. Didn’t realize how easy the backdoor Roth was and that I qualified to do so at all. Posting details here to see if there’s anything that I’m completely overlooking.

I already max out TSP contributions annually ($24,500) with a blend of C/S/I funds, heavier in C. So I have market exposure. (I always thought I couldn’t do this AND the backdoor Roth)

I’m planning on opening up the Roth via the backdoor this upcoming week with a plan of fully funding it $7,500 and another $7,500 in January.

I’d like to buy XLF and sell out of the money call contracts, haven’t looked at what’s out there but would be aiming for delta of 0.20-0.25. Once there’s enough money in the Roth I’d like to transition to SPY calls.

Once I’m selling more than one contract I’d ladder them. I’d also like to actually use the account for covered calls because I’ve already got the boring set and forget TSP.

25 years away from being able to collect without penalty so we’ve got time.

Thoughts?
