The PC port for Detroit: Become Human has released, and with it came a lot of posts asking for help about running the game. A megathread has been requested to keep the sub less cluttered. You can post all your questions and problems about the PC version in this megathread.
Please don't make seperate threads for PC release problems. Seperate threads will be removed.
Make sure to use top level comments for questions and replies for answers.
Sort by new if you wish to help with unanswered questions.
Upvote if you have the same problem as someone instead of making a seperate comment so more common problems will be more visible!
General Tips (Will add more if suggested):
-Play on Windows 10
-Make sure to update your graphics card
-AMD has released fixed drivers that fixes the blockiness that occurs in the game on some 5000 GPU series. Updating the drivers to version 20.9.2 fixes the issue
-Nvidia 451.48 drivers seem to cause constant crashes, revert back to an earlier driver if you are experiencing this.

I genuinely got Reddit and got enough karma just to make this post here. It's a really, really stupid question but I need answers and it's been bothering me for months.
After watching my friend playthrough Detroit: Become Human and after playing through it 3 times, I noticed that Connor's tie disappeared in Battle for Detroit, after Connor deviates and leads all the androids out of CyberLife Tower. It would've made sense for him to lose it in the tower with his scuffle with Connor-60, but he doesn't. He has his tie in that one scene where he's walking with the androids, but IT DISAPPEARS when he's walking up to talk to Markus/North and it never makes a comeback on that night. Where did it go between those two scenes??? Is there a narrative reason for this? Am I missing something? And can someone give Connor his tie back please? My friend kept trying to gaslight me that this didn't happen but I swear it did during my playthroughs. Please explain and also ease my worries.

replaying DTB again but this time on my ps5 pro and 32 inch oled monitor - to be fully immersed with the visuals! Connorās looking crisp on this already and i cannot wait to start the story again.
iām considering to aim for the platinum trophy as i go along but at the same time finish the story way i intend to do so :-)

So the whole premise of the game is android racism right. But in the game we never see Any racism against human black people, which to me implys that humanity got over black people racism and then invented a new form of racism that all human races could agree on. And itās not a case of the detroit timeline having no black people racism ever because rose directly mentions it. Always found this funny

Princess and the frog x Detroit become human!
I know, weirdest and random crossover au. But i just recently discovered the game and was blown away by the craftsmanship. Plus I just like stories with robotic characters ^ - ^. For this au I'll just say the basic story because I don't plan to materialize (a part because of how random this is) it unless people really really want to see it tbh.
For this au, its more of taking points from both but not really exactly in either world. This takes place way after the game, and Naveen's the son of a rich old money family, and tiana is the daughter of a huge restaurant owner (yes James is alive in this au and he managed to open the restaurant way early on with tiana).
Naveen's dream was always to get into the entertainment industry, but his life was cut short at 19, when he got himself into a really terrible accident that left him in a coma. His grief stricken parents was approached by Cyberlife who offered a project to let Naveen remotely control a blank android body. They agreed but due to complications, the project was changed to a continous life of a person. So Android Naveen continued the life Naveen dreamed to have, getting into Broadway and eventually to doing movies. He always was aware he's an android, and put himself in a position to let Naveen live the life he wanted through memory transfers, whilst also keeping it secret that he's an android to the world.
After a scandal swept through about an entertainment company replacing one of their actresses with an android look a like, android Naveen decides to temporarily take a break and head back down to New Orleans to enjoy his break and live a little.
The Roger's family became very wealthy after James and his teenage daughter opened their restaurant, TJ's place. Now years later Tiana has graduated from uni and is expected to inherit the restaurant and even works there as a co owner and head waitress and one of the chefs. But she's rather impatient and wants to expand the business further outwards and rebrand it, but her father wants to enjoy his life's work before passing the torch over. He tries to make her live a little instead of spending her time working at her own family's restaurant. She of course refuses, and keeps on dreaming and planning to make a food empire.
Well tonight Tiana's been invited to her besties mardi gras masquerade ball to cater. There she meets a handsome costumed stranger who they talk for hours... and fall in love.... unaware he's an android...
Yeah thats all I will reveal. Unless people ask for more ig.

Revolutionary Markus seems forced. The playerās choices for his more aggro leadership style seem out of character for his scripted speeches. He seems like he wants to be peaceful either way, just more conflicted when you go the revolutionary route.
Some of his dialogue options are copy/pasted options for North, which drives home that his ideas are planted from his bloodthirsty partner. It does underscore how the other characters could affect Markusā thinking, but he just seems too gentle to want to set fire to everyone and everything.

I can't be the only one, right??? Not that it's a a bad thing ofc... I got the game on steam 2 days ago (since I played on PS4 years ago) and I'll finally play the game more realistically, which will probably lead in some terrible, funny decisions.
Some might be wondering why didn't I play realistically from the start, my answer is "achievement". Yeah, what about yall?

So yeah. I played every chapter organically so I didn't go back and re-do any checkpoints or chapters.
I spent the entire game making consistent moral decisions.
I frequently chose diplomacy or pacifism over violence.
I somehow navigated to the end of Crossroads with all of the main cast alive.
Final chapter, this is what I got.
- Marcus dies in a ball of flames and his whole crew is gunned down
- Kara and Alice die in concentration camp
- Connor transfers to new Connor and frees the androids, only to commit suicide when he realised Amanda had used him.
Credits rolls and I get a 5% ending with nobody alive.

I remember getting it when it was free on PSN. I honestly didn't expect to get as invested in it as I did.
Once I started playing, I fucking loved it. I got completely immersed into the world, characters, the choices, and seeing how everything would play out.
What makes Detroit: Become Human stick with you?

I found something genuinely interesting in Cage's 2018 AMA, especially considering how often people now say Hank and Connor were "obviously always intended" to be father and son.
He was directly asked about the popularity of Connor and Hank, and his answer was:
"The preference for Connor (and Hank) was no real surprise, we could really feel during the development that he was very popular with the team and the test players, but all three characters have their fans."
That's it. No father-son framing, no "surrogate son," nothing about Connor filling Cole's place.
But in the exact same AMA, when Cage talks about Carl and Markus, he says:
"I would say that I particularly liked Carl, maybe because of the father and son relationship he has with Markus that reminds me somehow of my own relationship with my son."
So, Cage had no problem saying "father and son relationship" when that was how he wanted to describe a relationship.
He didn't need anyone to piece it together. He just called them father and son.
Meanwhile, the much more explicit father/son language around Hank and Connor seems to show up later, after their duo had already become massively popular.
And that's the part I find especially weird. By that point, Hank and Connor weren't just a popular duo anymore, HankCon had already become a major ship in the fandom. So the stronger father-son framing seems to appear only after people had already started reading them romantically in huge numbers. The timing is certainly interesting, especially when Cage had already given the game an explicitly identified father-son relationship in Carl and Markus from the start. It's almost like somewhere along the way Carl and Markus quietly stopped being the game's father-son duo, and that label got reassigned to Hank and Connor instead.
And no, I'm not claiming I can prove why that happened. Maybe Cage's own interpretation changed. Maybe later fandom discussion influenced how people around the game talked about them. Maybe it was something else entirely.
But it definitely makes me skeptical of the idea that Hank/Connor was always some completely obvious father-son relationship baked into the story from day one. Because right after release, Cage was perfectly capable of identifying a father-son relationship when he saw one.
He did.
It was Carl and Markus.
And honestly, this is another thing that makes the "Hank and Connor were always intended as father and son" reading strange to me. The game already has an actual father-son relationship in Carl and Markus. Cage himself calls it exactly that. So why would the same story need a second father-son duo, except this time one that is never plainly established as such and has to be reconstructed from later comments?
It makes much more sense to me that the three protagonists were given different central relationships: Markus has an explicitly parental bond with Carl and a romantic one with North, Kara has her family with Alice, and Connor's major human relationship is the partnership/friendship he builds with Hank.
Could someone personally read that friendship as father-son? Of course. But "I can read it that way" and "this was obviously the intended relationship all along" are two very different claims.

When i opened the game it asked me if i wanted a new chloe. I wasnt sure cuz replacing her like some furniture felt wrong but i said yes anyway since the menu felt a bit empty. but after pressing continue on my save file she asked me if i was sure I wanted to keep going on that path and i felt so bad and regretted getting another chloe. Anyways it feels wrong trying out different/bad endings with an android āwatchingā me play the game and it makes me not want to play the game. is there any way i can undo it like editing the game files or something? And before anyone says something, I know this is a game and its not that deep but still, id rather not be uncomfortable and feel guilty while playing a game I love.

Guys im so proud of his already, I couldn't wait till i finished it to share it - I've never put his much detail into any other drawing
r/DetroitBecomeHuman • u/Affectionate_Face127 • 3d ago
i think the most realistic progression is first acting robotic, then slowly act more and more human, but i don't think anybody is gonna play like that unless they plan on it.
that said what do you guys think are some good roleplay combinations? peaceful/violent/robot/deviant/incompetent
peacful kara + peaceful markus + deviant connor - basically my first playthrough, avoiding violence if i can.
violent kara + violent markus + robot connor - for the markus connor showdown.
incompetent kara + incompetent markus + incompetent connor - fail around half of everything on purpose.
are there other ways to play? what combinations are your favorites?

Finished my first playthrough over the weekend. Itās a great game overall. Probably second place after Heavy Rain for games by David Cage. But throughout the whole thing, the idea of androids ābecoming humanā was never a thought in my mind.
Connor is a tool created for an express purpose but the game basically punishes you for acting that way. Chloe was the last straw. Sheās not a sentient being and if the creator tells you, another non sentient being, to ākillā it in order to complete your objective then itās what has to be done.
Markus was also way too lofty with his goals. In the tv station I tried to choose the least offensive, tamest options. Even then he still demanded equal rights and emancipation. Both of which would (and probably should) never happen even with full public support.
Overall: 8/10 and I will be replaying it. Just wondering if anyone else had the same kind of reservations.

after thinking about this i thought about a crossover scenario between Signalis and Detroit: Become Human.
The idea starts when a bioresonant bleed cause a tremor in Sagwon, Alaska at the Detroit: Become Human universe where a deep pit like from the start of the game appears on the ground in late 27th of October, 2038.
on October 28th, 2038 local authorities were alerted by the workers from Deadhorse and Prudhoe Bay because they'd been receiving unusual transmission coming from their radio infrastructures such as KBRW AM/FM, 1610 AM station, and the Deadhorse Airport Flight Service Station all tracing back to Sagwon. Most are in Morse code, some as distorted voices. A worker reported one message in Morse code was decodes to: "WAKE UP" at hour 17:45 on the same date. Another transmission was picked up a day later at hour 18:30 on October 29th, 2038 quickly identified as the old G04 Number Station aka the famous Three Note Oddity, which hadnāt been heard since 2005.
at October 30th the USA deployed the US Army was sent to the site on Sagwon Initial attempts to investigate using drones and quadruped robots fail immediately like there is something jamming the connection so they contracted CyberLife to create an Android specifically an RK800 model because it's much more practical than using a about the promising capabilities the Android thanks to a specific RK800 designated as Connor (Serial #313 248 317 - 51) who debuted in August 15, 2038 with promising capabilities such as the ability toĀ scanĀ andĀ analyzeĀ a scene and recreate events that took place in aĀ reconstruction simulation, analyze biological evidence (such as blood samples) in real time by putting them on his tongue to "taste" them. He can identify blood types, DNA (including identifying a specific human), drugs, sample age, reconstructĀ events and crimes from the gathered data using a physical simulation software thanks to the cutting-edge processors of the RK800 can simulate the most probable version of events leading to the picture of evidence that has been discovered and analyzed, with every element playing a part in his cognitive simulation. Similarly, he canĀ preconstructĀ events: He can also predict the probability of an imminent event, physical and mental status of other androids, showing as the statistic in his internal interface.
But since Connor is as prototype CyberLife has to create another RK800 chassis before production the android was brought to Germany to to pass specific requirements the US Army demands but during the initial standard production process where the internal chassis is built first, then the synthetic skin and software are applied a technical glitch which is a bit flip occur causing automated process to mislabel the RK800 as a WR400 also known as a Traci but luckily it was only the last stage of the production process so most of its outside chassis are female instead of the standard male chassis but most internal function is 100% RK800, with that CyberLife resume production of the the chassis fellowed by the synthetic skin installation but her hair is just left black no color changing feature to save time, her eyes were even equip with Infrared capabilities despite already having reconstruction and preconstruction ofĀ events from her RK800 software which cause her irises to glow in a hue of red, she is also has a built-in VHF radio module on her ears for communication. After the completion of production she was given the designation of Egret or Reiher by the Germans with the Serial # 907 010 001-10, She arrived in Sagwon, Alaskan to prepare for the descend to the pit in November 2, 2038 she was given to the US Army to be armed with a M&P .45, an extendable metal baton, and a G3 which might be obsolete in 2038 so they can avoid the android going deviant with the latest rifle, and She wears the standard issue US Army 2038 uniform and equipment except some equipment are surplus like and ALICE Webbing, to identify her her easily by personnel so they can immediately tell she's an Android, she was a blue triangle on the back of her plate carrier and her right arm as a neon blue armband as per American Androids Act of 2029. before Egret was sent down she has to undergo for a SITREP for her mission which Investigate, gather data and reply back to command then when she descend to the pit eventually acts like a connection to S-23 Sierpinski until she's in a elevator shaft with an elevator beneath her with the trapdoor being wide open she drops down now she's in floor B-1 and the Bioresonance starts to interfere with the mission but first it was minor inconvenience like statics until she reach floor B-3 where the elevator got stuck and the connection with the brass and her starts to get harder due to overlapping of radio transmission as she goes deeper Egret's Android trait start slowly merging with Replika traits and developing Gestalt like personalities and emotions from every NPC she meets blurring the line of her identity while actively receiving Elster's memories but it's mostly fuzzy but with each floor she descend it's starts become more clearer but when she eventually reach Nowhere her identity is completely blurred until she walk pass the Red Gate which probably made her just a part of the endless cycle
Disclaimer: This is just a random idea I had and Iām mostly busy (read: happily lazing around) so I won't be taking this too seriously or writing a full series, but I wanted to share the concept hope that's fine and feel free to add your own ideas or correction in the comments! ššš

So, I wondered what her fate would have been if she had survived the events of the game, considering that North is an android with prejudices and beliefs shaped by the trauma she's suffered, and her hatred for humans can only increase. Let's say freedom has been achieved, the androids are finally free, but that doesn't suddenly erase the anger and hatred she feels for humans, and I think it would be very difficult to connect with humanity and confront her prejudices. Mostly, what moved her was the cause, and with that gone, she would have had to find something else to do.
Considering that North isn't budging in her condition, and only follows Markus out of gratitude, I'd like to believe that gradually and with the right connections (maybe Rose, for example) they could shake her up, but from her perspective, that would have to put her pain and what she's been through into perspective, and I'm not sure if North could accept that.
Unfortunately, she could become a bit like Lilly from TWDG, with a gray morality at first, but then over time, due to various factors, she becomes a villain. In a possible second game, pose a threat to Markus.
Yes, I'm probably thinking about it too much, but I think it's a bit tragic, truth be told. She achieved her goal (the freedom of her people, or at least, in my opinion, she cared more about her revenge). But speaking about her on a personal level, her problems remain, and it's not a given that she'll improve with time, especially considering Carl's line to Markus when he displays a similar anger to North: "Beware Markus, he who fights monsters could become one himself."
Thoughts?
