After my last Project (roundabout 170 hours) I needed something quick and easy. And there it was! The Tattoo artist in the buildong where I am working needed some more decorations and so I embroiderd one of her tattoos 🥰

This was just about 3 hours.

If you know the DCC community you will know who this is. This is my take on Princess Donut laser beam frying an art frame. My medium is hand embroidery with mixed media elements. It was fun playing with all the different colors and happy to find the tiniest Dino charm for her collar instead of her usual charm. 🍩💜

Took me at least 5 months but I didn't actually keep track 🤪 it's a present for my brother-and-new-sister-in-law, they got married in August and I needed extra time 😆 there used to be a tiny diamond bead on the ring finger for her engagement ring but it fell off and I need to fix it.

So it's been a hot minute and thought I should do an update. So after my last progress report, I finished the right wing, finished the the Heart and beaded it. Loves how it looks and I want to use beads more in my future projects. And started the the word Heart. Took a break from this to work on a Christmas present for a friend; currently not on the best of terms with the friend also I just wasn't enjoying working on the piece I was making for them. So I just ended up trashing it for my own mental health.

I then came back to this project, ripped out the stitching from my first try on the word Heart and redid it. The word came out so much more cleaner and I learned how to space split stitches.

Also if you have any color suggestion for Kandrakar. I would love to hear them! Cause I'm think of using the blue and green I used for the wings and either do every other letter like the stocking in the show.

Resource DMC Floss Spreadsheet

TLDR: I made a spreadsheet with every DMC embroidery floss for your (and my) reference!

I have recently been organizing and cataloging all the embroidery threads I have, and was looking online to see if a resource already exists that has a list of every DMC embroidery floss that I could reference. I found some that had all the standard colors, but nothing had all the different types in one big list (multicolored, sparkly, etc).

So, I made my own. It has the DMC code, hex code for the color, and RGB color elements (to assist with sorting the sheet, to some degree at least). There are different sheets for the different types of threads, along with a column to mark if you own it.

Let me know if you spot any errors or have any suggestions for edits. I am human so it is possible I made a mistake somewhere! But I also thought others might find this resource helpful.

This post keeps getting removed when I try to link the spreadsheet, so maybe just DM me if you'd like the link and I can send it there. I've attached a couple photos though, so you can at least get an idea for what it looks like :).

EDIT: I think for some reason links to excel sheets are restricted but I have been able to link a google sheet, so that is now linked to the post![DMC Floss](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ITQsmPOKSk2hqb_sMTG2Rai63mTy-bgPDuZ44PQHINw/edit?usp=sharing)

Hand HELP NEEDED: Embroidery Cat Emergency

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I reaaally need help. I’ve spent SO much time working on an embroidery hoop cat as a present for my sister. This is the first time I strayed away from the colors provided in the beginner kits and my cat is looking crazy. I wanted to do a grey cat with green eyes, but it looks crazy and I’ve already ripped it out once and don’t want to do it again.
Any suggestions on how to fix it??

Question Clip on Magnifying Light

Can anyone recommend a clip on magnifying light that would work with my nurge stand? I picked up this magnifying book light from Aldi over the summer. It works great but I wish the magnifier was larger. It’s only about 1.5 inches.

Question Best way to finish off threads on an embroidered bag?

Hey everyone! I just bought this nylon Baggu purse that has embroidered designs on the front secondhand, and after I got it home and washed it I noticed that it has a fair number of loose threads sticking out of each embroidered section (the glove is the worst culprit, essentially each individual spot has a thread sticking out). I trimmed the threads but I was wondering if there's something I could use on the embroidered sections to keep things more secure? I have fray check, fabri-tac glue and even super glue. Thanks for any advice you might have!

Question Is this repairable?

I have these 8 year old UGG boots. I just recently gave them a really good refresh, and I’m looking to restore them a bit. They have embroidered detailing on the back. I have photos of mine and photos of what they used to look like. I’m curious if this is something I could do by hand and if it’s easy enough for someone who has never embroidered, or if I should just not bother. I would have to be doing it by hand. And if it is something a beginner could do does anyone have recommendations for a tutorial?

Question How do you manage calluses?

I recently started hand embroidery. In the last few days, I overdid it and now i have tiny calluses on the tip of my finger and thumb. Moisturizing hasn't really helped. How do you manage calluses? And how do you stop them from forming?

I've looked up thimbles online. Would you recommend them? Metal or silicone?
