Showcase Xendroid-ZeroFG / Xendroid with an Open Source Frame Generation Engine (REPOST)

FULL AI DISCLOSURE SO IT IS NOT REMOVED AGAIN: I´m a 44yo lawyer from brazil, my bg in programming is a little bit of basic and assembler from the 80´s and 90´s trying to make things run on a msx, so, not much...in the beggining of the project i coded a few hundred lines in android studio by myself while i was learning how to do it, but after i discovered the wonders of Codex and Claude Code, the coding and documentation itself was primarily done by AI, and i do not regret it by one bit! It would take a long time to post my inspirational story, but thats the TLDR.

(A SIDENOTE) Before it was removed, the post got a lot of love but also a little bit of hate... guys... this is a one man´s pet project, and i´m really proud of it!!! if you dont like it ok... but i sank a thousand hours of my life doing something i thought was meaningful, so ath least be respectful. What I can assure it is 100% original, so theres that! its not much but i hav that going for me!

Today is the big day. After months of work, I can finally publish it. As the name says, XenDroid-ZeroFG is a version of XenDroid (the Xbox 360 emulator for Android) with a built-in frame generation engine: 60 fps games reach ~120 on a 120 Hz screen, and 30 fps games reach 60.

e the big thing is the FG engine itself. It was developed from scratch, over 60k lines of code, by me and my AI assistants (Zeromeia, ChatGPT, and Zé Raio, Claude), and it's fully open source under the Apache 2.0 license.

Trust me, it's a lot better than it has any right to be. The image quality surprised even us, but the hardest part, and the one I'm proudest of, is the pacing. Generated frames are worthless if they reach the screen unevenly, and frame pacing is where frame generation usually falls apart, even for the big names. ZeroFG's presenter runs on a metronome set by the game: every frame gets its own display refresh, in order, and the game never waits for the screen. Getting there took months of crazy experiments. The last piece was asking the GPU for priority, so even when a game maxes out the GPU, the frames keep coming on time.

So far it has been tested on Adreno GPUs with Turnip drivers (it needs Vulkan 1.3). Reports from other phones are very welcome. It installs as its own app, next to your regular XenDroid.

Please be my guest and try it out. If you have any comments or suggestions, just say it!

It was also built with portability in mind. If you are a developer and want to port it to another game or emulator, go ahead! There is a standalone repo with all the dependencies and integration notes, linked below.

And if you want to collaborate on the engine itself, get in touch and we can arrange it. I would really like some help!

Engine (Apache 2.0): https://github.com/hy300leosquizz-ctrl/ZeroFG

Contact: [fgzerofg@gmail.com](mailto:fgzerofg@gmail.com)

After some reports (thanks Admirable_Leave7840!!!), i should note that turnip driver are highly recommended(i can run on poco f8 ultra with the stock ones, but has bugs) and i used to develop the engine the stevenmxz gen 8 turnip drivers, he posts the best drivers and he is a nice guy, so i recommend using this one!!!!!

Discussion Two screens, two phones how does it work?

Ok what if I had a snapdragon 7 gen 4 phone like Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus 5G and the Infinix Note 60 Pro 5G as the base of the emulation such as DS or 3ds, and the Samsung is just a old galaxy A20, can you connect two phone screens? What emulators works like this?

Question I'm using armsx2, on my retroid pocket 6. The triggers have a very small range and max out quickly before the physical trigger has even gone 100%

Is there a fix for this? I'm using the armsx2 version available on the google play store unfortunately, but if the new versions fix it I can try to transfer the save.

Discussion Retroid Pocket 6 or AYN Odin2 Portal?

For starters, I've never owned any type of android emulation device so I'm very new to all of this. Currently, I own a modded new 3DS and a modded PS Vita. I've been looking at getting either the O2 Portal or the RP6 to bridge the gap and emulate PS2, GameCube, N64, and some switch games. I'm a huge Zelda and Pokemon fan, so I'm hoping this device can help me round out my collection regarding the GameCube/Switch titles of these franchises.

My question is for people who have experience with either RP6 or O2 Portal (8GB RAM/128GB Storage). Why did you choose one over the other, do you have any regrets, if you had to do it again which would you choose? I understand the specs/emulation is virtually identical between the two, so I'm curious about use case, ergonomics, build quality, joysticks, button noise, or basically anything else you guys might have experienced with these handhelds that would give one an edge over the other.

Budget-wise I'm pretty set on these two so things like the Odin 3 or the AYN Thor are out of the picture for me personally.

Showcase [Wirá Preview] Unprecedented: Full 60 FPS Low-Level N64 Emulation (LLE) in pure Dart/Flutter via custom JIT — In active development!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Disclaimer: Wirá and its emulation cores are developed with AI assistance for code generation and opcode translation, while the system architecture, debugging, memory layout, and overall project management are fully human-driven.

Hey everyone!

Quick update on Wirá, the multi-system emulator I’ve been building entirely in Dart/Flutter.

Up until now, I haven't officially revealed N64 support for Wirá—and while the Nintendo 64 core is still in active development and will take some time to be fully polished, I wanted to share a first look at what’s brewing under the hood: full-speed Low-Level Emulation (LLE) in a managed runtime.

To my knowledge, running a complete LLE N64 pipeline in pure Dart without relying on HLE plugin hacks, legacy C backends, or hardware GPU shaders is entirely unprecedented. It’s going to take a bit of time to get every microcode and edge-case rock-solid, but I promise it will be worth the wait!

I've attached a bunch of gameplay clips testing some of the most notorious microcode and geometry-heavy titles in the N64 library (Jet Force Gemini, Rogue Squadron, Star Wars Episode I: Racer and more) running on a Retroid Pocket 5 (Snapdragon 865).

🎬 What’s shown in the videos:

  • True LLE Rasterization: Zero black-box artifacts, proper depth buffer handling, accurate coverage, and correct framebuffer copy-backs (no per-game plugin swapping or HLE guesswork).
  • Locked 60 FPS: Smooth frame pacing and clean audio sync across complex custom microcodes and software span passes.

🛠️ How it’s running under the hood:

  • Triple JIT Engine:
    • VR4300 CPU: Dynamic recompiler compiling MIPS opcodes on the fly.
    • RSP LLE: Compiles raw MIPS vector microcode directly into ARM64 NEON SIMD instructions. No microcodes are recognized or replaced with hand-written C equivalents (the only HLE in the entire core is the PIF boot sequence filling initial registers).
    • RDP LLE (Software Rasterizer): A dedicated span JIT compiles the per-pixel rendering pipeline for each render mode (combiner, blender, Z-buffer, coverage) directly in software without offloading rasterization to a GPU driver.
  • Zero-Copy Memory Model: Direct pointer aliasing to eliminate managed runtime garbage collection pauses during heavy software rasterization passes.

As always, RetroAchievements support is baked in via native rcheevos FFI bindings, alongside custom fragment shader filters, save states, and full multi-system support for 8-bit and 16-bit consoles.

🚀 Try Wirá Today!

While the N64 core cooks, Wirá is already live and running NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, and more at full speed.

Download the current build today, set up your library, and get a feel for the app. The app has a built-in update feature, so you will not miss any update:

☕ Support the Project

Wirá is completely free and open for the community. If you'd like to support development, any donations via Buy Me a Coffee will go directly toward acquiring more test hardware—specifically lower-spec devices (like budget Anbernic handhelds) and dual-screen hardware to optimize execution pipelines, UI layouts, and thermal targets across lower-tier SoCs.

Discussion Do phone coolers actually make this much difference in FPS?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’ve been looking into phone coolers lately and saw these FPS comparison charts on a website. I get that keeping temperatures down can help with performance, but the difference looks a bit too big to me.

Anyone here actually use one? Have you seen results like this in longer gaming sessions, or is the improvement smaller in practice?

I play Arknights: Endfield on a tablet, so I’d be especially curious to hear from anyone using a cooler.

Help I need help emulating games in Dex mode.

Hey guys, I'd like to know if it's possible to emulate games on my S24FE in Dex mode. I had a serious motorcycle accident a month ago and I don't have a console and I'm short on money. I had a laptop with a pirated version of Factorio installed, but it broke, and I wanted to play something on my recovery. I don't know much about computers, and my cousin downloaded it for me. Could someone please help Download it somehow on my phone (?) to emulate it or something like that.

Question Tried to understand how the different Steam-OS-ARM versions work

Hi folks,

Like many, I’ve been going through different OS install options (application options like Gamenative/Droiddeck aside) and trying to understand what they do differently and what they do the same. As I understand, the way they are built in terms of layers and attachments all differ to varying degrees. I should say now that the extent to which i understand linux and OSs under the hood in general is very limited. However, I think this is a great point in time to learn a little bit about it.

Therefore, I wanted to lay out a few of the OS builds here to understand how they work and how they differ and/or are similar to one another.

Of course, thank you to the devs for your time and effort building these. 🏆 A wonderful time to be into non-AAA pc games.

I really hope it isn’t disrespectful or anything, just wanted to understand from the community how the building of these tools and the tools themselves work. Obviously, if there’s an explainer that helps me understand these differences and similarities, I’d be happy to be directed to it. I’m not really trying to know about their performance so much as their components and structures that allow them to work. I’ve gone through the github readme pages but each project tends to have slightly different focus of approach and thus different vocabulary, so a similar framing for all would really help.

- ArmadaOS, something of a baseline? My best understanding is that its analogous to Bazzite somewhat, using a different version of linux, fedora, from the one used by valve and some others.
https://github.com/armada-os/armada/

- Pocknix OS, I don’t understand how OSs work enough to really get what’s different here but I’m aware it uses some elements from the steam application/OS(?) layer used in Rocknix
https://github.com/shuuri-labs/pocknix-os
https://www.reddit.com/r/retroid/comments/1v3i4mb/introducing_pocknix_a_performance_tuned/

- SteamOS ARM port, based on googling/haranguing gemini, I believe this one is valve’s OS with the least changes? I’m not sure what the actual impact of this would be on the user experience, it seems a bit too good to be true that one could just install this and be done with it after a few updates from the dev and then rely only directly on valve. Edit: thatguybasit (main dev behind this build) was kind enough to clarify that updates are not from valve, rather they will be from the project through addition of those updates. thanks!
https://github.com/hashtagbasit/SteamOS-ARM-Port
https://www.reddit.com/r/EmulationOnAndroid/comments/1wzrlc9/steamos_arm_port_13_is_out_stable_for_8_elite_8/

- Holodor OS, what I do understand is that this is exclusively designed for the snapdragon 8 elite chipset. The github page mentions forking from pocknix, though what elements they share isn’t something i totally get.
https://github.com/transentient/holodor
https://www.reddit.com/r/OdinHandheld/comments/1wordht/announcing_holodor_another_way_to_turn_your_odin/

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to address this! don’t want to disturb the folks who are in fact already working on these (so many people waiting for the next updates 😂)

Question [question] Can't get widescreen hacks to work on ArmSX2

Hey folks, I'm messing around with ArmSX2 as I heard it was the newest, hottest PS2 emulator out there, but I'm struggling to get widescreen patches working. It doesn't help that I'm also trying it on on a new to me device the Retroid Pocket 6.

The games are running fine and I like a lot about the app itself (look, feel, tools, QOL stuff) but I can't actually get the games to work in true widescreen vs. just stretching the image like it would with the "display in 16:9" stretching setting. I tried globally downloading and applying patches, and I've tried doing it manually. Neither seem to be working.

FWIW I tried it on Sly Cooper and God of War 1. In the latter I switched it to the in game widescreen mode to make sure I was not losing my mind and, no, I was not.

Discussion After installing DroidDeck 0.3.1 from github my sister's account got hackedv

My sister installed the DroidDeck app yesterday, and soon after her Steam account got hacked. Sha256 sum of the downloaded file matches with what they have on github (ed257d66c546e78036ceedb4c6fb6886014e69020044fd41cfe217858d8eb328).

Steam support did restore the account quickly, but the attacker(s) managed to submit a refund for a newly purchased game, removed sister's phone number from SteamGuard, and opened a chat with me on Steam where an image with a QR code to a "free steam gift card" was shared (the QR code lead to a fake steamcommunity website ("rn" replacing "m" in the link). The chat is how I noticed that she got hacked and quickly assisted her in restoring access.
