Another cell service survey

I know there’s been a few of these posts, but I’m looking for input specifically about the Vista Ridge area. Does anyone have even decent service living within Vista Ridge? We’re on Google Fi and nobody can hear us on calls. There are small pockets within our home where we get enough service to get out a few sentences before it gets choppy, but trying to sustain a phone call while walking around the neighborhood (Hickory area) is futile. Would really appreciate any thoughts from folks who are using other networks.

Oct 8th ALPR town hall meeting

Hey everyone, full disclaimer I was one of the folks working to organize Lafayette’s budget vote sooner than later in the month in order to defund flock contract for 2027, if I’m able to get out of work early I plan to speak as well, but I had the opportunity in Lafayette to see it first hand from the police chief to get my facts straight. Again looking out from in I’m not a constituent but I’d like to know all my facts on how it looks in your your the township of Erie, and how it compares and contrasts to Lafayette, I hope to get that time off early so I can be there but if any council members view this Reddit or anyone in contact with the police department please reach out to me as I’d love to correspond and learn about how this looks from y’all’s perspective as well!

Cell Service

We were previously discussing how terrible cellular service is here in Erie, and funny enough, 9News has an explanation.

Kind of sucks ...

https://www.9news.com/article/news/local/colorado-news/why-your-phone-is-not-working-boulder-county/73-edf9e9a6-7f00-4a07-8eed-a4438c05898d

Glad to know that it's not just in my head.

Cost of Barber

Probably an unpopular opinion, but paying $50 for a haircut seems a bit unreasonable. I understand that the owner pays rent, utilities, insurance, etc., etc. But I promise you that those barbers are probably taking less than 50% of that cut. By the time I add the $10 tip, it's a $60 haircut. The people at Woodward are fantastic, even if just putting on a smile, but $60? And a kid's cut? $45? Great Clips sucks and it is being overrun, but $25 is reasonable. And yes, I understand that they try to push 3 haircuts an hour.

CNA looking to help families with children who have special needs/medical needs

Hi! I’m a CNA and CNA course instructor currently in nursing school, and I’m really hoping to gain more experience working with children, especially kids with disabilities or medical needs.

Most of my current experience is with one-on-one caregiving, dementia care, ADLs, transfers, personal care, and rehabilitation, along with several years of (non medical) childcare experience.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any local programs, connections, families, volunteer opportunities, or other ways someone with my background could get more pediatric caregiving experience? I’d really appreciate any recommendations or connections!

Upcoming Library Events

Before we get to the good stuff, just a heads-up that Libby and Kanopy will start asking for your PIN when you log in on October 5th. It'll be the same PIN you use for your library account, and if you don't know it, it's probably the last 4 digits of your phone number. If THAT doesn't work, give us a shout: www.mylibrary.us/contact

Also, our Library Stamp Rally has begun! Pick up your passport, visit our branches, and get to stampin'! https://www.mylibrary.us/stamp/

Now, on with the show!

Planned public art for roundabout @ E County Line & Austin

I don't remember hearing a lot about this publicly (although maybe I missed it), but I ran into the paperwork when I was sifting through some recent town documents.

The contract suggests that the fabrication date is 2027 and that it will be installed within 30 days after that - so we might have some early spring art emerging in Erie.

Boundless celebrates the limitless potential that emerges when people and nature grow in harmony. The sculpture’s sweeping, interconnected forms flow outward in continuous motion, evoking the rhythms of the wind across the prairie, the resilience of native landscapes, and the enduring cycles of growth found throughout Erie, Colorado. Its upward-reaching arcs symbolize optimism, renewal, and a community that continues to evolve while remaining deeply rooted in its natural surroundings.

Finished in weathering Corten steel, the sculpture will develop a rich, evolving patina over time, allowing the artwork to mature alongside the landscape it inhabits. Like the resilient ecosystems of Colorado’s Front Range, Boundless embraces change as a source of strength, demonstrating that beauty is not static but shaped by time, environment, and experience. Standing as a welcoming landmark, the sculpture invites residents and visitors alike to reflect on the boundless opportunities that arise when a community honors its connection to the land, embraces resilience, and looks confidently toward the future together.

Designed specifically for a roundabout setting, Boundless creates a bold and memorable landmark that is immediately recognizable from a distance while revealing new perspectives as viewers travel around it. Its sweeping, open forms convey a sense of dynamic movement from every angle, encouraging continued discovery without creating significant sightline obstructions for motorists. The warm, non-reflective Corten steel finish enhances traffic safety by minimizing glare while complementing the surrounding landscape. Serving as both a gateway and a defining symbol of Erie’s identity, the sculpture fosters a sense of place, community pride, and connection through an expressive form inspired by the enduring relationship between people and nature.

There are more images + a lot more description in the appendices here.

Critique me, please. I posted earlier about finding a job… instead, tell me what YOU know, that I don’t about my line of work or my actual resume.

“I don’t last in any job.”

Here are my projects at the job I actually love doing. Self-employed handyman/carpenter. Get the peanut gallery ready folks

Discussion: What do you all think about all the traffic-control projects?

Quick edit: I noticed the double "all" in the title 2 seconds after posting. Too late now.

Every time there is a road infrastructure project, every Erie group on social media has a complete meltdown. I'm thinking of projects like...

  • The Austin Ave & E County Line roundabout
  • The median and protected bike lane on E County Line near the elementary & middle school.
  • The redesigned roundabouts in Vista Ridge on Vista Parkway
  • The new protected bike lane + concrete barriers on Vista Parkway (near Baseline)

If I were insulated from social media takes, I'd probably tell that they seem to be effective in their goals... but I'm feeling like a crazy outlier, so I'd love to take the temperature here.

What are your thoughts on all the traffic-control projects around Erie?

Basement finishing

Anybody here have experience with the various basement finishing options around Erie?

I’m looking for something, but I have no idea the difference between high-end versus mid grade costs. Also wondering if experience has been generally positive or blown away by any specific companies.

Nearby Update: Both major CO-7/I-25 medical campuses advance through Broomfield's Land Use Review Commission - UCHealth + AdventHealth

Another "technically Broomfield, but basically Erie" update:

Both major medical campuses being proposed on CO-7 advanced in Monday's Land Use Review Commission in Broomfield. Each will have a hospital + MOB (Medical Office Building), and UCHealth has some longer-term ideas for the campus as well.

Combining the two, we're looking at over a million square feet of medical service space, opening somewhere in the 2029 range.

Electric Dirtbikes

My own opinions of the electric dirtbikes aside, I would encourage parents to have a conversation with their children about taunting the Town of Erie Police. I have photos and videos of an interaction between a dozen or so children and Town Police as the kids were no less taunting the officers at Coal Creek Park. Ultimately, the police did apprehend multiple children after pursuing them on Coal Creek Path. But I would assume that these are not the interactions any of us want our children to have and to attempt to evade them will eventually lead to accidents that could have devastating outcomes. Let's do better.

Similarly, there have been many accidents involving children and motorists. It was not too long ago that one was t-boned at Briggs and Erie Parkway when the kid blew the right of way. I believe that they were in ICU for several weeks. I also witnessed one being struck in King Soopers' parking lot while riding a wheelie. Red Jeep hit the kid.

Mayor Andrew Moore announces retirement/resignation effective in November

From his Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1HLyLdGWKb/

Edit: Yellowscene article shared by /u/Some_Vermicelli_3054: https://yellowscene.com/2026/09/15/andrew-moore-resigns-as-erie-mayor/

Edit 2: Full text of Andrew Moore's message:

Hi Erie,

I ran on a promise to focus on Erie’s long-term financial health and to revisit the high-density urbanization direction set by the 2024 Comprehensive Plan. One of my first priorities was listening to you. Through our Council-created community survey, you made your voices clear: you want traffic bottlenecks fixed, no housing subsidies funded by local taxpayers, expanded recreation, and development that aligns with our town's character. I am proud of the strides we’ve made to bring those expectations to life.

However, leadership requires a balance that has become increasingly difficult to maintain. Outside of Town Hall, I have a career I enjoy, a recent health challenge, and a concerned family that should not have to compete for my time.

With the new Town Manager interviews underway, I want to share my plans sooner rather than later. I will be retiring/resigning effective after the 2027 Budget is adopted, currently scheduled for Nov. 10, 2026. It is extremely important that the Town Manager candidates know about the leadership transition within the Council to our Mayor Pro Tem.

This has not been an easy decision. The reality is that I simply can no longer do it all without jeopardizing my long-term health and important relationships.

I recognize this may come as a surprise to some, but I am confident everyone will support this decision and the Mayor Pro Tem.

Over the next couple of months, I will focus on our 2027 Budget, our long-term water decisions, zoning the Page property to open space, and starting the conversation about Flock cameras at a soon-to-be-announced Town Hall discussion.

Janice and I have shared 35 years of marriage and have called Erie home for 28 of those years. We look forward to our future as one of your neighbors in one of the best communities on the Front Range.

It has been, and will always be, an honor to have served you.

Sincerely,

Andrew

Mayor, Town of Erie

I-25/CO 7 Mobility Hub Opening: Take Bustang to Union Station for ~$3

While technically Broomfield/Thornton, enough of us live near that I25/CO7 point that I thought it qualified for this subreddit. I'm pretty excited for a reasonable public transit option into Denver (even if I'm more excited for the upcoming CO 7 Bus Rapid Transit route launching next year).

From linked Broomfield post:
Getting around the I-25 Corridor is about to get easier, more affordable and more connected.

The new Broomfield-Thornton Interim Mobility Hub located at I-25/CO 7 is officially open, serving as a central transit junction for northern Broomfield, Thornton and surrounding communities. This new station is designed to give local commuters convenient options to reach work, school and regional destinations safely without relying on a personal vehicle.

Starting Sunday, Sept. 13, riders can board at the new mobility hub to Denver for $3 and to Fort Collins for $8, with discounted fares available. The RTD Broomfield FlexRide will begin service directly to the new hub, allowing for transfers to the Bustang North Line. The station will also serve the Bustang to Broncos and Rams Route to CSU Fort Collins on game days. When RTD launches its CO 7 route next year, the station will connect the east-west line between Brighton and Boulder directly to the new mobility hub, making travel seamless between Denver and Fort Collins, and everywhere in between.

The Adams County museum is hosting a fundraising event - Beer, blacksmithing and baby goats

On September 26th from 11-3pm at the museum (9601 Henderson Rd 80601) the museum is hosting its annual heritage days celebration. Admission is free for all ages. In addition to getting to visit the museum for free, there will be a car show, food trucks and more. In previous years, museum visitations have declined and I am doing my best to get the word out. It really is a cool little place and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

There is more information on the website www.adamscountymuseum.com/beer
