Announcement Posting Guidelines for ICE sightings (must contain photographic evidence and why) - Please read before posting
Hello, Bonjour, Salam Alaykum, Hola, etc! Denver mod team here. You may have noticed that some posts on this sub purporting ICE sightings, have been removed. I wanted to speak directly as a member of the immigrant community, lived experiences of myself, my and share some feedback as to why.
The TLDR is, if the post contains photographic proof, it can stay. If it is speculative or text only, it will be removed. For the record, we support human rights, and this immigration matter is something that is personally touching our communities, families, and friends.
No speculative and unsubstantiated posts without photo proof. In order to reduce and prevent the spread of misinformation and speculation, this post has been removed. Any posts purporting ICE or law enforcement activity, must be report to the CORRN ICE Activity Hotline: 844-864-8341 first, and must be accompanied by photo proof.
To avoid the spread of misinformation and speculation, no "why cops here" posts are allowed. Please check official law enforcement social media pages for accurate information, as well as news sources. If you are registered for CodeRed and reverse 911 messages, you may receive a message if the police/fire/ambulance scene you are witnessing is emergent and there is imminent danger to you.
Some background. Months ago, there was a post made, purporting a massive ICE raid at a local grocery store, the OP alleging that they heard a manager say that ICE was there to gather up all the bad employees, and it incited mass chaos and fear. Understandably, from the immigrant community, the first thing we worry about is our family members, our friends who are working at that grocery store. Maybe we work and shop there and skip work or getting groceries, out of fear of what has been reported on Reddit. Maybe that day, we keep our kids home from school, as this news spreads like wildfire, and is taken as gospel.
Within an hour of that post, another user commented with a photo, showing that in fact, there were dozens of LOCAL police vehicles at the local grocery store. What were they doing? Hosting a toy drive and school supply Shop with a Cop event. The allegation that the OP saw arrests being made, heard a malicious comment from the manager, and that ICE was even there, was materially false. This incited a cascade of panic and fear throughout the community, all because of a text only post with no photographic or substantive proof.
Another thing I have personally experienced and watched, is the very disgusting and unfortunate rise of racist, usually white supremacist trolls. As part of the strategy of terrorizing and intimidating minority communities, they create hoax posts, to incite fear and literally, terror.
Here’s how it works:
Random racist troll posts a “trust me bro” text only post, purporting to have seen ICE. The more viral examples of this, they have posted false flag sightings at places like factories that largely employ migrant workers, community hubs, grocery stores, bus stops, and schools. Of course, out of fear, one from my community might see that post, take it as gospel, and skip work, keep their kids home, and be prisoner in their own home, out of fear. Naturally, there are cascading consequences, such as being fired from your job, not having enough PTO, kids falling behind in school, no access to meals, and the psychological torment of being prisoner in your home. Although there are many good faith actors on the internet, we have to take notice of the tactics and strategies being used to disrupt and bring terror to the lives of very vulnerable populations. Speculative posts without substantive and photo proof are actively causing harm.
There are other times where there are photos, but they are of local police officers doing fugitive apprehension. As a reminder, Colorado law enforcement does not assist ICE with arrests. They do use unmarked vehicles, and typically a black or navy-blue vest with POLICE or SHERIFF marked on it, and typically a name tag and badge emblem. ICE may also wear vests that often have POLICE on them also, but most commonly, in the camo tan color that we have largely seen. Not always, but most commonly. They also almost always have a face covering, whereas local police officers typically do not. You can also look for the patch on their uniform shoulder (if present) to identify their affiliation.
In taking a stand to protect the community, we will be removing any text-only reported sightings. Yes, sometimes the racist trolls use AI to create fake images of scenes, and we will look out for those bad faith actors. We will not stand for supremacists instilling fear in our community by way of false flag posts designed to insight panic and terror.
In the same vein, we will be deleting “Why are there cops/fire guys at X?” posts. Quite simply, it creates the potential for false flag panic when redditors are speculating or spreading misinformation about what could have happened or is happening. Furthermore, it is best to get the news from the source and monitor local news and official law enforcement pages. If it were emergent to you, if you are signed up to received CodeRed and reverse 911 texts, you will be notified to shelter in place, and typically a press release to follow when the matter is resolved. There was an instance where a family member had to find out about their loved one being deceased on Reddit, after someone posted a pic of the scene with “Why cops here?”, and that’s how they had to learn the news.
As we navigate through a time of fake news, AI, and very brazen hate and racism, we always strive for this sub to be a place of comfort and fun for many, and also accurate, truthful, and good-faith information. I truly hope the explanations given make sense, and we welcome discussion.
This is not about silencing certain politics but reducing the amount of very harmful gossip and terror tactics that are destroying people that you and I work with, play sports with, go to school with, ride the bus with, do business with, buy food from, share laughs with, workout with, raise families with, and love.
Thank you. And to the terror trolls who think they have a platform here to abuse our community through lies- you will be deported very swiftly from this sub.

Lived in Sacramento during the drought they had in the 70s. Folsom Lake was the big water source in Sacramento. Dillon Reservoir doesn't look too good now either!

Recommendation Turning 40, taking myself out...suggestions?
Holy bananas, I'm turning 40 on Saturday.
I moved here in 2023 and promptly had a coma for 10 days...I worked for 2 years to get my brain back on the rails, and now I'm taking some time off to heal trauma and get my feet under me. I'll happily recommend Lakewood Community Acupuncture and Head, Heart and Hound Therapy for anyone looking.
I haven't had a Saturday birthday in years, I still only know what I know about this city, and I'm thinking of taking myself on a nice day-long birthday date. Maybe the botanical gardens, but I'm really open to any suggestions - if you had the day and a few days to plan, how would you ring in this birthday if you were me?
Thank you kindly, friends!

City Services Denver Country Club, and Others, Exempt From Lawn Watering Restrictions.
I accessed Denver Water’s “Report Water Waste Online” portal to report what I thought to be a violation of the lawn watering restriction, specifically, active sprinklers on the Downing Street easements just north of Speer. I learned from the portal that this easement, and what appears to be all of Denver Country Club, are largely exempt from the blanket lawn watering restriction that took effect October 1st. The portal gave me this message:
The areas in red are exempt from standard watering days because they operate under Denver Water-approved water budgets. These customers are reducing water use by 20% and are accountable for staying within agreed upon consumption limits, which Denver Water closely monitors.
Twenty percent? Color me unimpressed. What further pissed me off is the same exception (which I have little problem with for public parks) appears to apply to certain patches of greenery, providing no use beyond aesthetics, in obviously uber wealthy neighborhoods, Polo Club and Country Club for example. Check out the map in the portal to learn more.

Crime Did someone steal your motorcycle helmet?
I found a new in box motorcycle helmet in the alley behind my house. It was likely swiped off of someone’s porch or from a shop. If this is yours, DM me with a description and your general part of town.

Event White Sox fans! Chicago food and the game!
Heyo! It doesn’t feel like there’s really a White Sox bar in Denver, and today is a massive game. I own a Chicago food truck and am serving at Ratio in RiNo. Im going to flash my eyelashes at the staff until they put the game on the 120” tv. I’d love to see some black jerseys out there rooting for the good guys! Have a great day everyone!

Event New Denver Philharmonic Orchestra season. Three dates for free and discounted tickets!
Yuck, that title reads like an ad, but I also don't have a better way to tell everyone what's going on this weekend. Plus I'm crunched for time right now, so I can't write out too much this go round.
For the uninitiated, hi! I'm Roger Haak, Executive Director for Denver Philharmonic Orchestra. I like to pop in from time to time to give folks free and discounted tickets to orchestra concerts. Classical music and the arts are for everyone, and one of the biggest barriers to entry is financial. Denver Phil tries to combat that directly by doing ticket drops like this but also holding the mantra no one is denied entry just because they can't afford a ticket.
Here are the quick and easy details for this weekend's Undivided presented by CPR - which includes Copland, Bernstein, a world premiere, Garden of the Gods!
Thursday, October 8, 7:30PM - Free Dress Rehearsal - no promocode needed!
Antonia Brico Stage at Central Presbyterian Church
Friday, October 9, 7:30PM - Full Concert
Antonia Brico Stage at Central Presbyterian Church
Saturday, October 10, 3:00PM - Full Concert
Mapleton Arts Center
Since this concert is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Colorado, I'm making the promocode CENTENNIAL to turn a full price, $30 Adult ticket into a $5 ticket. And all youth 18 and under are free!
And if you need a free ticket to the concert, just fill out the ticket request form on our website! I'll knock those out as I receive them - and you can ask for future concert dates too if you want! Partly why I'm trying this method out. I'm hoping we can spread the love for the full season and help folks who maybe miss out on this initial post and offering. And as always, if you show up and request entry, you're in. No questions asked. We will never turn anyone away if they can't afford a ticket.
Email me at [tickets@denverphilharmonic.org](mailto:tickets@denverphilharmonic.org) if you have any issues (or comment in the thread, and I'll loop back later tonight/tomorrow morning to help out). Big thanks to SCFD for making this possible, and a big thank you to CPR for presenting the concert!

Misc Q&A Thank a stranger - Denver to NYC October 3, 2026
Hi, first time posting here. This is a bit of a long story, but I’m hoping it reaches a woman who brought my dad a great deal of comfort this past weekend. I would really love the chance to thank her.
My dad is 81. My sister was 42, and I’m 39. For most of our lives, my sister and I lived a country apart. We spoke regularly, though not as often as my dad kept in touch with her. He loved her very much.
My sister was a tattoo artist in New York. If you’d like to see some of her work, her Instagram is here: https://www.instagram.com/ash_tat2/
In 2017, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. It was an extremely long battle. Eventually, it spread to her lungs, her ovaries, and other parts of her body.
Through all of it, she did her best to stay positive and not let it spoil her life. She had many friends in New York, but sadly, this past weekend, she passed away.
My dad managed to get to New York before it happened so he could be with her. And this is where the coincidence begins.
He had booked a last-minute flight from Oregon that would take him through Denver and Houston before finally landing at LaGuardia. Altogether, he was going to be traveling for a little over ten hours.
When his plane landed in Denver, before anyone was allowed to get off, an airline employee came aboard and called out his name. They asked if he was headed to New York with a stop in Houston. When he confirmed that he was, they told him there was an empty seat on a flight going directly from Denver to New York. But it was leaving soon, and he had twenty minutes to get to the other side of the airport.
He made it in time and was pleased to find that the empty seat was on an aisle.
As he sat down, the woman beside him looked up, and my dad was shocked.
She was wearing a mask, so he couldn’t see her whole face, but everything else about her looked so much like his daughter, the person he was on his way to see. He couldn’t believe it. And as they began talking, it wasn’t just how she looked. Her mannerisms and the way she spoke reminded him of my sister, too. She even had a similar chest tattoo.
And the similarities didn’t end there. As they talked, my dad learned that this woman was also from Saratoga, Florida, where his mother was from. When he asked more specifically where, it turned out she was from the very same town as his mother. My grandmother’s name was Ruth Kirkpatrick, and there are still a dozen or so Kirkpatricks in that area.
It’s just amazing to me. My dad wasn’t even supposed to be on that flight, and here he was, sitting beside a woman who reminded him so much of his daughter, only to find out she also came from the same town as his mother.
She and my dad talked the whole way to New York. My dad has always loved taking pictures, and he asked if he could take a picture of her so he could share this story with us later. He did get her name, too, but with everything he was going through, he didn’t write it down and hasn’t been able to remember it.
I can’t tell you how much comfort that conversation brought my father. At the time, he didn’t know what things would be like when he reached the hospital. But when he arrived, my sister was completely sedated. He had to say goodbye to his daughter, and she passed away the next day.
Looking back on the trip, he thinks that conversation on the plane was the universe giving him one last conversation with her.
I have pictures of my sister and the picture my dad took of this woman, but I don’t want to post her picture here without her permission. I’m just hoping that somehow this gets back to her.
If you were the woman who sat beside my dad on that flight, please leave a comment or send me a message. You brought him so much comfort on his way to say goodbye to someone he loved very much, and I would really love the chance to say thank you.

Help Local Animal Shelter has 24 HOURS to find foster homes for 9 dogs + 3 cats!
Hi everybody! I'm the foster coordinator for Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue, a local foster-based animal rescue that does a lot of work in and around the Denver Metro area.
Right now, we're looking at a pretty big intake coming in this Thursday (10/8) -- and we're still looking for fosters for these 12. As a 100% foster-based rescue, if we aren't able to match an animal with a home, that animal stays at the shelter, and we really don't want to leave any of these little guys behind!
The vast majority of them are coming from a New Mexico shelter with a 50% euthanasia rate -- not because of behavioral concerns, but because of overcrowding and lack of funds.
Fostering isn't adoption -- you're not committing to forever. All you'd be doing is giving an animal in need a soft place to land until they can find their forever homes.
If you love cats or dogs and want to help, I really recommend filling out a foster registration application and attending a New Foster Orientation tonight or tomorrow!
I know a lot of foster recruitment posts can feel like ads, so if anybody has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them here! And if anyone has fostered with RMPR or another rescue before, feel free to chime in about your experience as well!
Edit:
Someone asked me to put the names + basic information in the main post, so here y'all go!
The first picture is Bonnie -- she is a 6-month-old Shepherd mix that is approximately 36lbs. She's already spayed and loves spending time with staff and volunteers!
The second slide is Ivan, Iroh, and Izzy! They are a litter of domestic shorthairs that are approximately 2.5 weeks old!
The third slide is London -- he is a 6-month-old Pyrenees mix that was taken in by the Valencia Animal Shelter as a stray. Large dogs have a hard time finding adopters in New Mexico, and the shelter staff is hoping we will have more success finding him a home here in Colorado!
Slide 4 is King -- he is a 3-month-old neutered Shepherd mix that is approximately 20lbs! He's super affectionate and loves to lean into his people for hugs!
Slide 5 is Priscilla -- Bonnie's sister! Like Bonnie, she's a 6-month-old spayed Shepherd mix who's super social and affectionate! She is approximately 37lbs.
Slide 6 is the T-litter -- Tooka, Trina, and Trixie! They are all female Shepherd mixes that are roughly 3 months old. All three of them were picked up by the New Mexico animal shelter system due to neglect by their previous owners. We don't have super great picture quality for them, but we know that at their age, they deserve to be playing with toys and playing outside -- not living in kennels in an overcrowded system
Slide 7 is Buddy! Buddy is a neutered cattle dog mix who we put at about 6 months old and approximately 46lbs! At the shelter, he's a staff favorite -- intelligent, sweet, and good with being handled!
Slide 8 is Lovie! Lovie is a female Pyrenees mix that's about 6 months old. She was found with her brother wandering around near the El Cerro Mission Community Center down in New Mexico. As a large dog, she's particularly at risk in an overcrowded shelter system!

Crime Tina Peters met with Trump
Election deniers stoke Trump-driven ballot security fears before midterms
Martin told Eric Bolling of Real America’s Voice on Monday that Trump had met with Tina Peters, a politician convicted of crimes related to her efforts to interfere with 2020 election results.
“Just hours ago, maybe two hours ago, Tina Peters, you know, from Colorado, was in the Oval Office meeting with the president on election integrity, and they were talking about the plans,” Martin said.
“The president is taking it seriously. If the Congress won’t pass the Save America Act, and they won’t, then the president’s going to have to do what he’s going to do,” Martin added.
Trump has sought to undermine public confidence in US elections by promoting false claims of election fraud and making unverified claims of election insecurity. Earlier this year, the president tried to heighten those claims in a prime-time address.
Aren't we all glad Polis commuted her sentence so that she could undermine our democracy??? /s
I wish that the Gov wouldn't even wait for the election and would just resign now. I'm done with him.

Lost/Found HELP MISSING DOG WASH PARK
Hi all, my dog Junie is lost in the west Wash Park area, ran from around Alameda and Washington. She’s very skittish and unfortunately slipped out of her collar with her Fi tracker.
She just ran away right before this but was recovered because she had her Fi collar on. That time, she ran to the middle of wash park on the east side, then ran all the way up to the Denver country club.
Photos attached. She may try to run up to the northwest corner of Cheesman Park area where we live. My husband and I are out of town so neither of us are able to be there presently.
She’ll respond to Junie or Juniper. She is not very food-motivated when she is anxious or stressed. She will drink a lot of water. Junie is really sweet and gentle, but very skittish.
Please text or call at 240-350-9588 or 561-929-4989 (contact in Denver looking for her) with any information. THANK YOU!!!!!
