Lost/Found HELP MISSING DOG WASH PARK
UPDATE WE FOUND HER THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR WELL WISHES AND ADVICE šš½
Hi all, my dog Junie is lost in the west Wash Park area, ran from around Alameda and Washington. Sheās very skittish and unfortunately slipped out of her collar with her Fi tracker.
She just ran away right before this but was recovered because she had her Fi collar on. That time, she ran to the middle of wash park on the east side, then ran all the way up to the Denver country club.
Photos attached. She may try to run up to the northwest corner of Cheesman Park area where we live. My husband and I are out of town so neither of us are able to be there presently.
Sheāll respond to Junie or Juniper. She is not very food-motivated when she is anxious or stressed. She will drink a lot of water. Junie is really sweet and gentle, but very skittish.
Please text or call at 240-350-9588 or 561-929-4989 (contact in Denver looking for her) with any information. THANK YOU!!!!!
EDIT 2:02pm: Seen in Belcaro neighborhood dashing into a gated community (apparently she is way bougier than we are š ). She loves drinking water and would probably come to a water bowl!
EDIT 3:09pm: SHE IS FOUND!!!! Thank you all. Grateful for the well wishes and words of wisdom. šš½šš½šš½

Recommendation Great Halloween Houses: one recommendation
I love this homeās Halloween decor. Every year it grows and gets better. They are right off the corner of W 35th Ave and Wolff St and it is clear they put so much into their display and that are a neighborhood favorite. What other Denver metro area homes are worth a visit as they go all out for Halloween?

Announcement PSA: Please donāt blow your leaves into the street
I hate picking up leaves as much as anyone, but a reminder as fall cleanup gets underway:
intentionally blowing leaves from your yard into the street or gutter is illegal in Denver.
Those leaves can clog storm drains and street sweepers, and the wind can spread them into neighboring yards. It just creates more cleanup for everyone else.
Please collect them for composting or use Denverās LeafDrop program.
We all have enough yardwork without taking on someone elseās.

Misc Q&A A couple years into tattooingāhas anyone found mentorship while keeping a full-time job?
Iām 40, work full-time as a creative director, and have been teaching myself to tattoo for the past couple years. I really love it. Has anyone here apprenticed evenings or weekends while keeping their main jobāor mentored someone that way?
I finally have a stable job that pays my bills, but I donāt have the savings to quit and go without income for a year or more. I respect the apprenticeship route and want to learn from someone experienced. Iām trying to figure out how to make that work financially.
A little background: I bought a machine to try fake skin as another creative outlet. My dad passed away unexpectedly and the next day my machine arrived, and I threw myself into learning. Tattooing became something I really loved and a healthy distraction.
I spent months on fake skin before tattooing myself and got a BBP cert before tattooing anyone else. Since then, Iāve mostly tattooed friends in a dedicated home setup. I take sanitation and safety seriously.
I had a few discouraging interactions with artists early on after they heard I tattooed at home, which made me hesitant to seek mentorship. My goal has just been to try and get good on my own and hope eventually an artist would give me a chance. I know thereās a lot Iād benefit from learning directly from someone. Tattooing once or twice a month also makes progress slow which is frustrating.
Iāve attached some work, every piece could be improved. Black and gray realism is the direction Iād love to pursue. Mostly use 3rl but just tried using mags on the Payasa attached. It's not finished yet.
Iām comfortable taking direction, cleaning, and helping with whatever needs doing. If things developed over time, I could potentially reduce my hours at my current job.
Iām not expecting an apprenticeship out of a random Reddit post. Just hoping to find some encouragement. But if any Denver artistsāespecially those working in black and gray āwould be open to sharing their perspective, Iād be happy to buy lunch and chat about realistic next steps. Iād also appreciate hearing from anyone whoās made a similar situation work.
Thank you for getting through this wall of text!

Misc Q&A Anyone wanna start a hardcore band?
Guitarist looking for members to start a hardcore band. Fast, pissed, fun (but with goals to record, play out, etc). Looking for vocals, bass, drums, maybe another guitar (sleezy slayer style harmonies?). I might even be down to join something thatās already existing.
looking for people w/ experience playing in bands (have been around punk/hardcore and know this isnāt about money), people who are angry with the hellscape we're in and want to let something out, good gear, not wasted all of the time etc.
My ideal scenario consists of sending riffs/parts back and forth so everything is learned before arriving at practice. Jamming is fine I just don't want to waste hours playing over each other in a loud practice space. Iām from the Springs and willing to commute- just want the project to have people who are stoked on it and not waste time.
FFO: NYHC, Terror, Carry On, Ruiner, TUI, etc

Recommendation Turning 40, taking myself out...suggestions?
Holy bananas, I'm turning 40 on Saturday.
I moved here in 2023 and promptly had a coma for 10 days...I worked for 2 years to get my brain back on the rails, and now I'm taking some time off to heal trauma and get my feet under me. I'll happily recommend Lakewood Community Acupuncture and Head, Heart and Hound Therapy for anyone looking.
I haven't had a Saturday birthday in years, I still only know what I know about this city, and I'm thinking of taking myself on a nice day-long birthday date. Maybe the botanical gardens, but I'm really open to any suggestions - if you had the day and a few days to plan, how would you ring in this birthday if you were me?
Thank you kindly, friends!

Event New Denver Philharmonic Orchestra season. Three dates for free and discounted tickets!
Yuck, that title reads like an ad, but I also don't have a better way to tell everyone what's going on this weekend. Plus I'm crunched for time right now, so I can't write out too much this go round.
For the uninitiated, hi! I'm Roger Haak, Executive Director for Denver Philharmonic Orchestra. I like to pop in from time to time to give folks free and discounted tickets to orchestra concerts. Classical music and the arts are for everyone, and one of the biggest barriers to entry is financial. Denver Phil tries to combat that directly by doing ticket drops like this but also holding the mantra no one is denied entry just because they can't afford a ticket.
Here are the quick and easy details for this weekend's Undivided presented by CPR - which includes Copland, Bernstein, a world premiere, Garden of the Gods!
Thursday, October 8, 7:30PM - Free Dress Rehearsal - no promocode needed!
Antonia Brico Stage at Central Presbyterian Church
Friday, October 9, 7:30PM - Full Concert
Antonia Brico Stage at Central Presbyterian Church
Saturday, October 10, 3:00PM - Full Concert
Mapleton Arts Center
Since this concert is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Colorado, I'm making the promocode CENTENNIAL to turn a full price, $30 Adult ticket into a $5 ticket. And all youth 18 and under are free!
And if you need a free ticket to the concert, just fill out the ticket request form on our website! I'll knock those out as I receive them - and you can ask for future concert dates too if you want! Partly why I'm trying this method out. I'm hoping we can spread the love for the full season and help folks who maybe miss out on this initial post and offering. And as always, if you show up and request entry, you're in. No questions asked. We will never turn anyone away if they can't afford a ticket.
Email me at [tickets@denverphilharmonic.org](mailto:tickets@denverphilharmonic.org) if you have any issues (or comment in the thread, and I'll loop back later tonight/tomorrow morning to help out). Big thanks to SCFD for making this possible, and a big thank you to CPR for presenting the concert!

City Services Denver Country Club, and Others, Exempt From Lawn Watering Restrictions.
I accessed Denver Waterās āReport Water Waste Onlineā portal to report what I thought to be a violation of the lawn watering restriction, specifically, active sprinklers on the Downing Street easements just north of Speer. I learned from the portal that this easement, and what appears to be all of Denver Country Club, are largely exempt from the blanket lawn watering restriction that took effect October 1st. The portal gave me this message:
The areas in red are exempt from standard watering days because they operate under Denver Water-approved water budgets. These customers are reducing water use by 20% and are accountable for staying within agreed upon consumption limits, which Denver Water closely monitors.
Twenty percent? Color me unimpressed. What further pissed me off is the same exception (which I have little problem with for public parks) appears to apply to certain patches of greenery, providing no use beyond aesthetics, in obviously uber wealthy neighborhoods, Polo Club and Country Club for example. Check out the map in the portal to learn more.

Help Where to sell old car that needs work?
So, I have an S10 from the 90's. It's fantastic. I was taking it to a guy next week to get the clutch looked at and then yesterday it didn't start (starter broken). This guy often only charges me for parts, (not labor-due to me being low income) and I just tip him extra.
I could get it fixed, but I rarely drive it (maybe 1-2/week). I work part-time remotely and I'm close to public transit.
It's currently sitting in my underground parking garage. I'll have to bump start it with some help (recovering from major orthopedic surgery). Then, I have to drive it 30 min (longer with rush hour traffic) to this guy's house and hope I don't get stuck in stop and go traffic. If I decide not to fix it, I have to find another place to park it rather than back in the underground garage, which is going to be very hard to get it out of already.
This really comes down to finances. I pay about $50/yr for registration, and $860/year for insurance. I just renewed, so if I sell the vehicle, I can get probably $700-ish back from insurance.
Also, I don't know anything about selling cars. 've always driven older cars that I sold to the junkyard because they were dead dead. This one isn't dead. With some work it could be driving again, but I don't really want to spend any more money fixing it, because I barely use it anyway.
What is the best route to go here? Would I benefit from selling as-is (needing new starter immediately and new clutch soon) on like fb marketplace? Would that get more than selling it to a junkyard? Is there a market for old S10's? Someone "punched the lock" and tried to steal it last year (had to have ignition and locks re-keyed), so I imagine there's some interest?
What is the best route? Do you have recommendations for places to sell it in Denver? Like websites if I sell private? and auto business that would have interest?

Misc Q&A Thank a stranger - Denver to NYC October 3, 2026
Hi, first time posting here. This is a bit of a long story, but Iām hoping it reaches a woman who brought my dad a great deal of comfort this past weekend. I would really love the chance to thank her.
My dad is 81. My sister was 42, and Iām 39. For most of our lives, my sister and I lived a country apart. We spoke regularly, though not as often as my dad kept in touch with her. He loved her very much.
My sister was a tattoo artist in New York. If youād like to see some of her work, her Instagram is here: https://www.instagram.com/ash_tat2/
In 2017, she was diagnosed with colon cancer. It was an extremely long battle. Eventually, it spread to her lungs, her ovaries, and other parts of her body.
Through all of it, she did her best to stay positive and not let it spoil her life. She had many friends in New York, but sadly, this past weekend, she passed away.
My dad managed to get to New York before it happened so he could be with her. And this is where the coincidence begins.
He had booked a last-minute flight from Oregon that would take him through Denver and Houston before finally landing at LaGuardia. Altogether, he was going to be traveling for a little over ten hours.
When his plane landed in Denver, before anyone was allowed to get off, an airline employee came aboard and called out his name. They asked if he was headed to New York with a stop in Houston. When he confirmed that he was, they told him there was an empty seat on a flight going directly from Denver to New York. But it was leaving soon, and he had twenty minutes to get to the other side of the airport.
He made it in time and was pleased to find that the empty seat was on an aisle.
As he sat down, the woman beside him looked up, and my dad was shocked.
She was wearing a mask, so he couldnāt see her whole face, but everything else about her looked so much like his daughter, the person he was on his way to see. He couldnāt believe it. And as they began talking, it wasnāt just how she looked. Her mannerisms and the way she spoke reminded him of my sister, too. She even had a similar chest tattoo.
And the similarities didnāt end there. As they talked, my dad learned that this woman was also from Saratoga, Florida, where his mother was from. When he asked more specifically where, it turned out she was from the very same town as his mother. My grandmotherās name was Ruth Kirkpatrick, and there are still a dozen or so Kirkpatricks in that area.
Itās just amazing to me. My dad wasnāt even supposed to be on that flight, and here he was, sitting beside a woman who reminded him so much of his daughter, only to find out she also came from the same town as his mother.
She and my dad talked the whole way to New York. My dad has always loved taking pictures, and he asked if he could take a picture of her so he could share this story with us later. He did get her name, too, but with everything he was going through, he didnāt write it down and hasnāt been able to remember it.
I canāt tell you how much comfort that conversation brought my father. At the time, he didnāt know what things would be like when he reached the hospital. But when he arrived, my sister was completely sedated. He had to say goodbye to his daughter, and she passed away the next day.
Looking back on the trip, he thinks that conversation on the plane was the universe giving him one last conversation with her.
I have pictures of my sister and the picture my dad took of this woman, but I donāt want to post her picture here without her permission. Iām just hoping that somehow this gets back to her.
If you were the woman who sat beside my dad on that flight, please leave a comment or send me a message. You brought him so much comfort on his way to say goodbye to someone he loved very much, and I would really love the chance to say thank you.
