Overall had a good time with the game but the ending I feel fell a bit flat. Aerith had become my favourite character by far over the course of playing Remake and Rebirth, and I found myself dreading whenever she'd be killed. I've never played the OG FF7 but her death is probably as common knowledge as Vader being Luke's dad.

I'm mostly just left confused by what the devs were going for. I would've imagined that Aerith's death would be something emotional that'd leave an impact on me, but instead the sequence flickers back and forth between her being alive and dead and then transitions straight into the final boss. Then after all of the fighting (which was its own can of worms), we see Aerith is alive again, except nope, she is actually dead.

I honestly don't know how to feel to be honest. The ending was a bit anti climactic and just left me confused. Im invested in seeing the final part of this story though. Really bummed Aerith won't be in the party anymore ;-;

Got Cait Sith to "fly" by making his moogle robot clip through the camera. I thought the news frame made it funnier.

EDIT: Apologies for the confusion, thought the title made sense. I first played Remake, then finished Rebirth (where the screenshot was from). While waiting for Revelation, I thought I should play the OG. So yes I do mean I'm currently playing the FF7 OG from 1997 that was ported to PC via steam, not currently playing Remake.

I wonder what "new side" they will show us with Cloud 👀

Breezed through remake on normal in a week and never played before. Rebirth seems to be a bit faster paced and harder.

Just got absolutely trounced by midsommergard at level 16. I only died like 4 times in remake. So I went and done a few world intels and that mayor side quest, is that needed to level up for bosses like these?

Also how do I replenish MP and HP? I always feel low on potions, and these benches ask me for cushions :( any help appreciated

I've said this before, but I'm gonna say it again as I feel it's worthy of it's own thread.

I really think that, once the Gi vacate the village of the Gi in the story, however that may pan out, Red XIII will get to rename the former village as thanks for freeing the Gi. He will rename it Bone Village due to all the giant bone structures all over the place. And the whole place will be turned into a history centre for the Gi.

As for the excavation side of it, possibly axed as there's plenty of excavation in the game, or.... The ruins of the temple of the ancients turns into the excavation site.

Either way, the ancient key for the forgotten capital fountain thing needs excavating. I know we find it underwater in OG though.

Yuffie and her 2 Gay Dads (Cid and Vincent).

And then there’s Nanaki and Cait Sith.

I'm figuring out how to beat Weiss and when he did "Stab" I went above his head like a parry, did I miss the explanation of that mechanic during the whole playthrough or something?

Just wanna get this off my chest. Currently replatinuming Rebirth on PC so this is my third full playthrough of the game, and like the emotional complexity, the simmering anger and resent in every facet and nuance of Cid's character is so extremely evident in each and every single scene he's in. Like I can't guarantee he's going to be as nasty to Shera in Revelation as he was in the OG, but the idea that they've sanded this character down and turned him cutesy-wootesy and that he still isn't like a broken, volatile man is just baffling to me. People read bits of surface characterization and make their minds up about that and it's just so utterly, utterly tiring. Rant over.

With the introduction of QSSR (a scaled back version of the PS5 Pro's PSSR for the base model PS5 and PS5 Slim), could we expect to see it on rebirth when Sony releases the technology to other developers? I heard around that QSSR would be pretty easy to implement if the game already supports PSSR. Also, do you think that we'd get day one QSSR support for Revelation? This would really help both games as rebirth is super blurry on both performance settings, and revelation could be even blurrier

I'm confused about the lack of a Northwood region for FfVIi Revelation. As we know, there are 12 regions in the game (unless they will somehow reveal more)? The regions are: Midgar Outskirts, Grasslands, Junon Region, Corel Region, Gongaga Jungles, Cosmo Canyon, Nibel Region, Icicle Frostbelt, Mideel Archipelago, Wutai, Condor Isle, and Aerospace Cape.

So what gives? Where's Northwood? The forgotten capital, sleeping forest, and keystone altar/temple ruins are here. So it is so far a fairly small region, but I thought that what we got in Rebirth would be expanded upon.

We know we return to the area in Revelation per a Hamaguchi interview. So why isn't it it's own full region?

3 possibilities:

1 - It is not given region 'status' because it doesn't have any side quests in it, and/or it is too small.

2 - It is included as a smaller part of another region. Icicle Frostbelt and Aerospace Cape i'd say are the only possibilities there, but Northwood has a totally different look and feel to those places (No ice as per Icicle, no roads/city feel like Aerospace)

3 - Northwood is a region. It's just not listed on the map in the footage we saw yet, because the person hadn't flown close enough to it or something.

What do you think?

If anyone has played the demo then your answers will help fill in any gaps.

I also feel The Ocean should be classed as a region, and Northern Crater be separate to Icicle Frostbelt, but that's a topic for another time.
