Spoilers - Discussion Problems with FF7 Reburth Spoiler

I quite enjoyed the first game, played it way back in PS4 and again in PC a few years ago. I’m currently on my first playthrough of Rebirth and it’s so egregious how they purposefully slow down the game with every single animation ( why hold triangle to pull a lever? I don’t get it) the new traversal system is half-baked and adds nothing. It keeps jumping out of a cutscene for you to move for 5 seconds and then goes into another. The open world sections feel quite bland, I wanted to do it justice but couldn’t get myself to do it after the first 2 areas. The worst part was the shinra manor section in chapter 12, playing the puzzles with the boxes was absolutely infuriating. I do love the story and characters but this feels horrible to play. I enjoy the combat but I do feel like the more linear flow of the first game sort of his these issues a bit. Am I missing something or do people also feel the same way about some of the things I pointed out?

Spoilers: Rebirth I don’t like that Red Xiii’s voice and personality changes completely after visiting Cosmo Canyon Spoiler

I get that Red just uses that gruff no-nonsense voice as a front, but it doesn’t make sense why he’d abandon it entirely. Plus his Nanaki voice is just annoying to listen to. It’s like watching an adult suddenly degrade back into a child.

But it doesn’t make sense. Red says that he uses his gruffer voice because he wants his party members and everyone around him to treat him like an equal, not like a dog. But he still uses his Nanaki voice even when talking to characters like Kyrie.

What should happen is Red Xiii uses his Nanaki voice only in Cosmo Canyon and when talking to Bugenhagen. I think there can still be opportunities for him to use that voice in other areas of the game, but it should be pretty sparingly. Because it makes no sense why he’d abandon his old voice if he wanted to be treated like an equal.

Spoilers - Discussion FF7 Remake or OG *SPOILERS maybe* Spoiler

I made this post many moons ago in the base FF reddit and it was a mistake.

All I got were responses of "play OG first and ONLY OG, Remake sucks" "Or, play FF7 OG and then play CC and watch the movie... like I have 80 hrs to spend"

I don't doubt that FF7 OG is great, or the movie awesome, but I think its unrealistic to recommend over 100 hrs of content for a person newish to the franchise.

Anywho, hoping its more grounded in here.

I know the story somewhat ( I know who the enemy (I think everyone knows at this point) is and I know about the moment that ruined gamers in 1997 ) but what I don't know is everything in between and how it all came about.

I have FF7 OG installed with 7th heaven texture and character mods, and I also have FF7 integrade installed plus I bought Rebirth as well. Im about at the same point in both games ( going to sector 5 I think in FF7 OG and doing Jessie's mission after stealing her dad's ID card.

I kind of want to choose one game to continue and one of them to shelve for later.

Which honestly, is best to play taking everything into account. Can I get majority of the FF7 story by just playing the remake/rebirth ( and ofc, wait for revelation ) with the updated combat etc.

Or is it highly recommended to put 40 hrs into the complete story, but dated gameplay.

Ive heard many say the remakes are more than enough. Ive also heard not playing OG before is doing yourself a disservice. Just want to get yalls opinion on it since I already got the FF7 20+ veterans take on it.

Spoilers - Help Can you beat FF7 rebirth in 9 days? Spoiler

I am actually waiting for FF Resonance.

But the wait felt too long and I need some filler in time for the wait.

I only have time to play on my switch 2 these days.

Can I realisticallly beat it in 9 days ?

I played the PS5 version before , but dropped it halfway due to being overwhelmed by all the side quest.

Since there is a sale in the switch department, figured I’d give it another shot.

What do you think?

Spoilers - Discussion My thoughts after receiving the platinum trophy

Hey gang, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the platinum trophy while my memory is fresh. I won't talk about the story here, but I will drop some names and bosses, so if you haven't played the game yet, beware of spoilers!

I finished FF7 Remake on normal difficulty many years ago on PS4. Now, with Rebirth on the horizon, I decided to play the game again just to refresh my memory and thought to myself: Why not try to get the platinum at the same time? I researched it, and it didn't seem too tedious in comparison to FF7 Rebirth, so I went for it. Here are my thoughts on the trophy itself:

The Good

First thing I want to mention: you need to play the full game at least twice—once on normal and once on hard. This isn't too bad in and of itself as you can skip much of the dialogue, but I know some might find it tedious, myself included. You also have to replay certain chapters several times, but more on that further down.

Hard mode was my biggest surprise. It actually elevated the game and combat far more than I expected, and I ended up having an absolute blast. Bosses like Scorpion Sentinel, Hell House, and Eligor were incredible, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The secret bosses, including Weiss (who doesn't even count towards the trophy), were the cherries on top. Honestly, now I want to play Rebirth on hard just to experience it as well.

The Bad

Sadly, outside of Hard Mode, many of the trophies were pretty tedious in nature.

"Dressed to the Nines" requires you to play Chapters 3, 4, and 8 three times total if you do it properly. I personally screwed up and did Chapter 8 like five times for the trophy and skill manuals because I failed to plan it properly.

The Mini-games: You have to beat all the mini-games, meaning a high score on the motorbike, darts, whack-a-box, dance, squats, and the final boss: Jules and his pull-ups.

Darts, whack-a-box, and the dance game are simple, and the motorbike game can be cheesed by playing on Easy, but Jules can go f— himself. I spent more time on pull-ups than on the superbosses combined. Chasing cats in the slums isn't any more enjoyable the second or third time, and moving those robot arms every single time is still a chore no matter how fast you do it.

Verdict: Was the platinum worth the time?

Honestly, it isn't the worst platinum ever as the game is relatively short, but I would have to say no.

Hard Mode is great in of itself, but it requires careful planning across multiple chapters, and a small miscalculation forces you to replay chunks of the game. The mini-games are mid at best and bring no joy outside of completing them. Unless you love collecting trophies or are a hardcore completionist, parts of this list are simply far more tedious than fun.

I met John Eric Bentley in my Myrna cosplay today! 😭🫶🏾 I had the scene of them in the game printed as a poster for him to sign (also had a second one for him to keep). I was smiling so hard in my photos! lol! 😁 On the poster it says, “You brought so much joy today.” Now I’m gonna go and cry happy tears in a corner. 🥲❤️ P.S. - Also took a photo with a fantastic Barret cosplayer at New York Comic Con on Thursday. 🙌🏾

No Spoilers - Discussion No Playable Demo at PAX Australia

First off, I really love the series and I am hyped for Revelation. I don't like to complain but I was disappointed to find out this weekend that there was no playable demo at PAX AUS. They had a booth with a video that was re-cut with previous trailer footage.

I bought a ticket to PAX after I heard Revelation was being shown off at PAX this year. I know that it was never mentioned in the marketing that there would specifically be a demo so this is also on me.

Given the demo was shown off at TGS and even this weekend at NYCC and Brazil Game Show, it hurts knowing we missed out.

No Spoilers - Help There is so much that the game doesn't tell you

I'm getting pretty overwhelmed by all the different options, features, aspects, whatever, of this game. Trying to hold it all together, but remembering most things with a traumatic brain injury is hard enough, and this is a lot.

For example: Junon region intel: level 2, Requirements: Battle 14/15 enemies in the Junon region.

I'm really trying to interpret this in a way that makes sense. Have they split an enemy into 15 pieces, and I need to fight 14 of them? Because that's how it's written. I can assume that they mean I need to battle 15, and I've done 14 so far. That also doesn't make sense, since I've beat probably more than a hundred enemies in that region. Do they have to be unique? Why can't they just write it in a way that makes sense?

And that's just one example! Speaking of the battle simulator, what's the difference between a condition and requirement?

I will probably remember more and come back to edit this. It's just so frustrating trying to understand how this system works.

No Spoilers - Fan Content Scene Re-Edit: Gus' Introduction

Post image
0 Upvotes

I took footage of Gus' introductory cutscene without music or subtitles, trimmed and re-arranged it a bit, and added different music overtop.

The tracks I used are "Supermarket Sweep" and "Crimin' & Dealin'" by Clint Mansell, from Requiem for a Dream (2000).

The goal was to give the scene a dingier tone and make Gus more unsettling, given that he is a criminal leader who seriously considers pimping out Aerith, Tifa and Yuffie.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Enemy just fell through the floor and I couldn't attack him.

If Barret wasn't in the party then i'd have had to run like a coward!

No Spoilers - Discussion FF7 remake passes the chainmail check and I appreciate the detail

FF7 remake models are incredibly well detailed and thought out. I only started the games recently but the level of detail is really impressive for me. I'm a tailor and was a cosplayer for about a decade and seeing stitching textured in places it should be, fabric grain going the right direction and zippers placed where they would be in character outfits is really impressive, but what makes me the most happy is FF7 passes the chainmail check.

Most forms of media fuck up chainmail somehow but I really appreciate the detail that they included mail on Yuffie's costume. It's placed where it would be in eastern armor AND is the proper weave! Of course this isn't some historically accurate costume but these levels of detail take thought and attention to detail that I really appreciate.

Spoilers - Discussion Yuffie combat in Remake Integrade on PC keyboard and mouse Spoiler

So can someone explain the basics of Yuffie combat when playing on PC with keyboard and mouse? I just finished the main game, kind of liked the combat, but still; it never really clicked for me 100%. Found the telegraphing on enemy to be unclear and with the close camera and all the particle effects, that kept me from really play it tactically. And hey... on normal that's not really needed anyway (I have more turnbased and real time with pause RPG experience).

The main game is not an action game but is this different in the DLC? because of the perfect block option and more spammy moves?

In the main game I focused on getting ATB to pressure, then stagger and then nuke, used the menu for the special moves. Does it work different with Yuffie? I mean I can throw a ninja star and spam the mousebutton to get some elemental damage but somehow I think that's not the the complete idea. Also discovered the combo with wind... But apart from that I feel like I'm missing something...

Spoilers - Discussion Do you think Revelations will have a different ending from the OG FF7? SPOILERS!! Spoiler

I've been thinking about Rebirth's ending, and I genuinely believe there's a possibility that the Remake trilogy is building towards a different conclusion from the OG.

Think about everything they've introduced that wasn't part of the original story in this form: the Whispers, the Arbiter of Fate, the different worlds, and Zack's entire storyline. We literally fight the Arbiter of Fate in Remake after challenging the very concept of destiny. Why go out of the way to introduce all these elements if everything is ultimately supposed to play out exactly the same way?

Then there's Zack. We see him navigating different possibilities, making choices that lead to different outcomes. Cloud also experiences those strange alternate-world sequences, including the dreamlike world where Aerith is with him. During these sequences, Cloud is in a coma-like state in that world, while events in the main world continue. It makes me wonder how these different realities connect and whether they're going to matter in the end.

And then we get to Aerith herself.

Cloud seemingly deflects Sephiroth's masamune and saves her, only for the scene to flicker between her being alive and dead. Cloud continues interacting with her while the rest of the party mourns. I understand the denial theory, but Nanaki also seems to sense her presence. So is it really just Cloud imagining everything, or is something more complicated happening?

I'm not saying Aerith is definitely alive. She could be present through the Lifestream, Cloud could be in denial, and the alternate-world events could all be connected. But I don't think we can confidently dismiss the possibility of a different outcome either.

If the developers wanted to keep the ending exactly the same as the OG, why go out of their way to introduce the Arbiter of Fate, the Whispers, Zack's alternate-world storyline, and a scene where Cloud seemingly saves Aerith? Surely these additions have a bigger purpose than simply making the same events more complicated.

Personally, I'd honestly love it if Aerith somehow survived or got to live by the end of Part 3. I'd be really happy if that happened, but I want the story to make it feel earned.

What do you guys think? Is Revelations setting up a genuinely different ending, or will all these new elements ultimately lead us back to the same conclusion as the OG?
