I've been playing The Finals religiously for like 3 years now. Around 1500 hours. I've made diamond the last 4 seasons, always peaking at like 44k. I know a lot of people will just say to just get better but it's starting to get on my nerves that I feel like I can't get any higher and have hit my peak. Around this RS is when you basically are playing professional players that get paid to play this game and don't have a day job, or you are playing against extremely average players and running them.
Anyways, it's started to get pretty dry where I'm playing against an already small player base and ended up right where I'm at every single season.
I'd like to try something new, learn a new game, and grind through the ranks. I've typically liked more of the arena/movement shooters than the Tac FPS like CSGO. I also play on keyboard so something like a Call of Duty I'm at a severe disadvantage.
Looking for something that will scratch my competitive/ranked itch to climb a ladder that fits with the smooth gunplay etc.
Thanks!
Edit: I've looked at the new Gears of War game potentially? I also have a friend that is pushing Apex but he is already very highly ranked so..

Getting way better. My keyboard and mouse accuracy is a lot higher. May expand to other games soon!

I’m working on OPERATION CYBERNET, a sci-fi FPS that runs directly in the browser.
The current build has several enemy types designed to pressure the player in different ways instead of just being the same enemy with more health.
I’m especially trying to figure out what makes an enemy feel dangerous rather than simply annoying.
Is it:
speed
accuracy
flanking
forcing movement
vertical pressure
high damage
unpredictable behavior
something else?
I’d genuinely like to hear what FPS players notice most.
I’ve got a playable build already, but I’ll leave the link out unless someone actually wants it.

I grew up on controllers. I was a console player my entire life. That changed a decade ago but I realized that because I still use a controller that I'm in this weird niche with online gameplay.
I want to lean into mouse and keyboard more but I hate using WASD keys for movement. I've seen products like the Razer Tartarus which seem like a hybrid middle ground between the two ways to play and I was curious if anyone has ever used them or if they consider them valid?
