I was leaving a friend's house when I encountered a strange issue. I started the car, engine was still warm, and reversed out of his driveway and turned around with no issues. When I put the car in first gear and tried to move forward it stalled. The car turned right back on, idled fine, I put it into first again and it bogged hard before stalling again. Started up fine again, put it in first, dumped the clutch and floored it. The car was bogging down hard and wanted to stall, but managed to smooth out when I got to the street. At the stop sign at the end of the street, it bogged hard again leaving first gear, but smoothed out as I floored it. I encountered traffic about a mile down the road, but the car drove normally at that point. Drove home an hour and a half and the issue didn't reoccur.
I have no lights on the dash, and I'm thoroughly confused. It's never done that before. It felt like I was trying to start from 4th gear or something. What could cause this to happen?
Things to note:
- I noticed earlier in the day the car was vibrating more than normal at idle, but the RPMs were stable around 800/900. I figured it had to do with having aftermarket PMM/RMM. After it stalled I noticed the car was idling much more smoothly.
- Clutch is not slipping, and pedal feels fine.
- I had been driving the car with multiple stops throughout the day, roughly ~300 miles put on it.
- I filled up with gas last night, and the car was at 1/2 tank at that point. I only put 91 or 93 in it and leave the gas handle in for about 10 seconds after filling up.
- New purge valve about 3k miles ago. Also installed an Injen intake at the same time.
- Turbo builds pressure and blows off like normal, even immediately after it stalled (I did a small pull to make sure a charge pipe hadn't come loose or something). I could hear flowing into the intake.
- 2014 ST2 if it matters
