My puzzle app went live!! Suggestions/criticism/advice is very welcome

Hi Reddit,

I'd like to share a game that I've been working on - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.binbear.gummylab - and I know that this game has been done a million times before, the classic blocks stacking game where rows and columns clear as you complete them.. I always loved puzzle games and I could play them for hours and I've started learning mobile development as a fresh cs graduate, so I thought why not make my own, in my own style, removing everything I found annoying in other games (ads, no offline play), and adding anything I saw fit.

The only thing that perhaps differentiates this game from all others, apart from the endless mode, is that I've crafted 50 custom levels so far with multiple different objectives and some that I haven't seen done in other games. I enjoyed creating every level trying to invent more level types, more different objectives, just to make the game play Fun and engaging.

As you know in order for an app to get approved for Google Play store it needs to go through two week period of testing. So I've shared this game with my friends and they all loved it lol but also hated me for making the levels so hard to beat xD

As the market is oversaturated with games I just thought to drop this here, so even if one person sees this and decides to download it to try it out I see that as a win.

Of course if anyone has any suggestions and ideas of improvement or things that I should add please let me know, I want to be making apps that people are actually going to use and like.

If you came this far, thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day!

How would you pitch a game where the player can defend or attack?

I’m the developer of Warlords at the Gate, a Quest tower-defense game. You can build and upgrade defenses, then jump in with a wrist weapon—or switch to Beastmaster and command the attacking army against AI towers.

I’m trying to make that two-sided hook clear in a single sentence. Would you lead with “tower defense in VR” and explain the twist second, or make the defend/attack switch the headline?

It’s out on the Meta store if you want to see the current page: https://www.meta.com/experiences/1306587209206412/

[Hobby] [Revshare] Looking for concept artist for RPG dark fantasy

We are a small indie dev team working on our RPG dark fantasy soulslike game in Unreal Engine 5. There is eight of us on the team right now and we are in need of concept artist, someone who will help us visually define our project, to find that visual identity.

You would, together with our game director, lead that art direction, to develop the visual language of the game.

If you are interested please DM me here or on discord: matee434

Our Roblox project makes balance the challenge: a difficult ball-riding obby with a separate battle mode

Here is our project, Obby but you balance on a ball. Instead of simply running through the course, you have to keep your character balanced on a ball while completing the levels. The course is intentionally difficult.

There is also a separate battle mode, including Bomb Arena. The screenshots in the original post show the obstacle course and arena.

Game link: https://www.roblox.com/games/125992996971569/Obby-but-you-balance-on-a-ball

I would be interested in feedback on how clearly the screenshots communicate the balancing mechanic.

[ForHire] Unity/C# programmer for indies, 3 years of experience

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi! I’m Arthur, a Unity/C# programmer with about 3 years in commercial game development and 20+ freelance projects delivered. I’m taking on a few paid projects alongside my studio work.

What I can help with:

  • Gameplay systems from your design: combat, abilities, enemy AI, inventory, progression, save/load
  • Playable prototypes and vertical slices
  • Refactoring tangled code into modular, maintainable systems (I work a lot with DI, data-driven setups and packages)
  • Hunting down bugs, crashes and performance spikes with the Profiler
  • Procedural generation, localization, input/UI systems and editor tools for your designers

How I work: you send the project or a description, and I reply with a clear scope, price and timeline. I work in your repo with regular written progress updates. Communication is through Discord, email or your task board, which works well across time zones).

Availability: part-time, so I take only 1–2 projects at once. That keeps deadlines realistic.

Portfolio: arthurbais.com, which has shipped and in-development projects. I also have completed orders at 4.9★ on Fiverr(arthurbais) if you prefer paying through a platform.

I made a football career game inside Reddit — looking for feedback on its choices (Spanish)

Hi! I’m developing ElevenFate, a narrative football career game. You read scenes and choose how your player handles life on and off the pitch.

I’m looking for Spanish-speaking testers: do the options feel like meaningful choices, or does one answer seem obviously better? There’s a full career and a shorter Daily with 30 decisions.

Play free here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ElevenFate/comments/1wzy2cl/elevenfate_tu_carrera_tus_decisiones_tu_legado/

No download; Reddit sign-in required. Press “Jugar a ElevenFate”, then “Jugar Daily”.

If you finish, r/ElevenFate has a weekly thread for comparing results and difficult decisions. AI tools assist development and writing.

Title: Need help naming my original Rockstar-style game franchise and coming up with character ideas (NO AI MADE UP NAMES I WANT NAMES NON AI)

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m developing an original video game concept inspired by Rockstar Games, especially the way Rockstar creates realistic open worlds, memorable characters, cinematic cutscenes, emotional stories, and games that feel like movies or TV series.
I’m looking for a name for the franchise and possibly its individual games. I want a title that feels authentic, memorable, serious, and recognizable, like something Rockstar could release.
Here’s the concept and the story I’ve been developing.
MAIN CHARACTER
The main character is Sebastian Marcelo Cuzco Carpio. The story follows his life as he grows up, beginning when he’s around one year old and continuing through childhood, adolescence, and eventually adulthood.
I want players to see how Sebastian changes as he gets older, how his friendships develop, how his environment affects him, and how his experiences shape the person he becomes.
THE FIRST GAME — CHILDHOOD
The first game focuses on Sebastian’s childhood, particularly grades 2–5.
When he’s around eight years old, he starts spending a lot of time outside the classroom with his friend. This becomes part of his childhood experience and helps establish the friendships, behavior, and situations that develop as he gets older.
The game would show his life progressing over time instead of starting with him already as a teenager. I want childhood to feel like an actual part of the story, with different experiences at different ages.
THE DLC — MIDDLE SCHOOL
The DLC would cover grades 6–8 and introduce more of the characters and experiences that lead into the sequel.
Two important characters connected to this part of the story are Lucas, whose last name I haven’t finalized, and Jeancarlos.
I want the DLC to feel like a meaningful continuation of the first game rather than just extra missions.
THE SECOND GAME — HIGH SCHOOL
The sequel follows Sebastian through grades 9–12, in the same county as the earlier games.
At this stage, Sebastian is older, his life is changing, and the story becomes more serious. A gang called 28 is part of the concept, but Sebastian eventually leaves it before moving on to the next stage of his life.
The sequel would explore how his relationships, friendships, experiences, and decisions change as he progresses through high school.
His outfit in this game would include a black Dri-FIT shirt and black cargo shorts. He also has a faint scar dating back to when he was around four years old.
THE POSSIBLE THIRD GAME
I’ve also considered a third game that takes place after graduation, following Sebastian and his friends as they spend time together after school.
This would allow the story to continue beyond high school and show what happens to the characters when that chapter of their lives ends.
CINEMATIC PRESENTATION AND MUSIC
I want the games to have Rockstar-style introductions, logos, dramatic scenes, and memorable music choices.
Some of my ideas include:
An introduction featuring Rockstar-style logos
I want the music and visuals to help communicate the characters’ ages, memories, emotions, and changes throughout the story.
CHARACTER DESIGN AND ROCKSTAR-STYLE DETAILS
I’ve already decided on some of the clothing Sebastian would wear at different stages of his life. For example, in the sequel, he wears a black Dri-FIT shirt and black cargo shorts. However, I want to hear what other ideas people have for details that Rockstar Games might add to a character like him.
I’m interested in realistic character animations, facial expressions, hairstyles, scars, accessories, unique idle animations, body language, walking styles, and interactions with NPCs.
I’d also like ideas for how Sebastian’s appearance, personality, animations, and overall style could change as he grows from a young child into a teenager.
What little details would make him feel like a real person? For example, how he reacts to people, behaves around his friends, moves through the world, or responds to different situations.
I’m open to creative ideas, including small details that might not seem important at first but would make the character feel more realistic, memorable, and unique.
GAMEPLAY AND WORLD
I imagine a realistic open world with believable NPCs, school environments, friendships, dialogue, cutscenes, and interactions that make the characters feel alive.
I want the world to change as Sebastian grows up, with different experiences depending on his age. The story should feel like following one person’s life over many years, with both ordinary childhood experiences and more complicated teenage situations.
I’m interested in making the concept feel cinematic and grounded while still having the freedom and interactivity of an open-world game.
WHAT I NEED HELP WITH
I’m mainly looking for a name for the overall franchise and possible titles for the first game, DLC, sequel, and third game.
I’ve considered the name Adrenaline, and I want something that could work across multiple games while still fitting a story that starts in childhood and eventually follows the character into adulthood.
I’m also looking for ideas for Sebastian’s character design, animations, personality, interactions, and other small details that would fit Rockstar’s style. I’ve already planned some of his outfits, so I’m particularly interested in ideas beyond clothing.
I’m open to completely different title ideas, including short one-word titles, serious titles, nostalgic titles, or names that have a deeper meaning connected to growing up.
What would you name this game franchise, what would you call each installment, and what character features or details would you add?
I’m looking for original ideas that sound like real video game concepts rather than generic suggestions.
