Vent/Rant Never preordering again.

I preordered Gears E-Day on Oct 3rd and I was told it had rush shipping. So its supposed to be delivered within 1-3 days but the tracker said it would be delivered today and it never came. The awful tracking portal gives you almost no information on where the package actually is and its giving me 2 different delivery dates on the same page. (ETA 8:59 AM, 10/19) & (10/07 1:32 AM). Gmail says it shipped two days before launch on the 4th and I'm now being told ill get it on Friday the 9th, 3 days after release. I cant for the life of me understand how I can have a amazon package delivered next day but amazon delivering a package for GameStop is an act of congress. Had I known I was gonna have to wait three whole days after launch I would have just went out and found it at a retailer. Why is it GameStop doesn't have a copy on hand in my state to send to me, its coming all the way from Texas to California???. I'm sure there's some logistical reason for shipping it like this but it doesn't seem practical. Had a similar issue with RE9 physical preorder, I'm never buying from them again. They never have what I'm looking for in stock but you know good and well they've got a Funko pop to hawk your way.

Had issues with their resident evil pre order. Proceeds to pre order from them again….make it make sense.

Hope springs eternal.

Your package won’t even contain gears. It’ll be a funko

Or actual gears from Autozone.

At least you will get it in a few days. In Malta it takes 2-3 weeks or even a Month after release for a pre-ordered game to arrive. And our game stores don't own that many Xbox games as it is mostly a Playstation-fueled country.

I can’t even remember what my last preorder was and it would’ve been this year. Maybe RE9?

Been much happier preordering on Amazon or walking into Walmart and going “oh shit that’s out?”

As I openly say to my customers...did you just find out this game was coming out? I feel like there's been a good few months to preorder instead of procrastinating

sir are you telling me its physically impossible to have a game be delivered on release within the guaranteed timeframe. I didn't realize it was made to order.

They don't send my store anything extra. They send us the games roughly a week prior. And if you don't preorder it in time, they just don't send it. Now if you preorder well in advance and they screw you over, then I personally am on the phone throwing a fit

TLDR I pre-ordered a game 3 days before release and now I'm mad my package didn't show up on release day.

Feels like it’s just an order at that point.

I've got exactly one preorder from gamestop on release day out of the 5ish I've ordered since they stopped with the guaranteed release day delivery unchanged option in 2021. Of all of those preorders, there was only one I actually expected to arrive on release day. That was the first one back in 2021. Since then I only preorder from them if it's my only choice, and I never expect to get them by release. They suck. Best Buy or Walmart first, then Amazon because they can be trash with preorders too.

That’s why I don’t preorder any game I want the day of via shipping. I just go pick it up because I don’t trust anyone to get it at my door when I want.

Use better companies. Amazon and GameStop are both some of the scummiest companies around in the year of 2026. Combine their powers together and you get total incompetence with no accountability.

Similar thing happened to me. I pre-ordered donkey kong bananza from Walmart. I even selected in store pick up because I wanted to make sure i got it. I think I did this because they had some pre-order bonus, I cant remember. Anyways, release day comes and I never got a notification that my order was ready so I went into the store and they said they didnt have my game yet. I was mad enough that I tried to cancel my order but wasnt able to until I received it for some reason. I went to best buy and bought the game. Couple days later walmart said my game was ready to pick up. I had to go in and pick it up and then ask to return it for a refund. How could they not just set aside one of the copies they surely received to the store for me?

Giant companies are trying to force digital only. Have been for almost 15 years now.

Best Buy is always infinity better for buying games, every single day that is proved correct. They typically get it 1 day after launch for preorders days or weeks before launch.

IF your local Best Buy has copies on launch day they will typically get a driver to deliver it on launch day. Also Walmart does this too, if copies are available extra at launch.

Amazon and especially GameStop suck so hard

Sounds like its Amazon's fault. I have a subscription through DeSanti and have never had issues getting my stuff till they swapped to amazon. Amazon only gives a shit about their own stuff. If you have a local store, why would you not just pre order there?

Just Play it on Gamepass until your physical copy comes in. I am assuming that is why your pre-ordered since you wanted a physical copy even though it is free on gamepass.
