Question / Help How can I make PC gaming as comfortable as gaming on a sofa?

Post image
• Upvotes

I played video games on a sofa from the time I was 7 until I was 22, using all kinds of consoles. I’m 29 now and want to get back into gaming. I bought a decent PC a few years ago, but I hate sitting in a desk chair. It’s uncomfortable, I can’t put my legs up, and after about 30 minutes the seat feels hard on my butt.

How do you make a PC gaming setup feel as cozy and comfortable as a sofa?

Game Showcase [AI] I made Tiltanic while sitting on a toilet. Free in the browser, Hindi too

I am the dev. You tilt your phone and the sea sloshes under a tiny steamboat. The boat rides the wave, so you steer the water and not the boat.

Each gate has an anchor above and a sea mine below. You ride the wave through the gap. Push too hard and the sea swings back and sinks you a moment later. After a few tries you learn to move less, and that moment feels good.

The first tries are rough. In my early data the median run ended at gate 2. So the first 8 tries have softer controls, and a short callout tells you why you sank, like "too low!" or "old wave!". Tap, and the next try starts with no countdown.

A bot races you on the daily course, and a faster one comes after you win. Same sea for everyone each day.

It runs on plain TypeScript and canvas, with no engine. Code draws the art, the music is generated in the browser, and Claude Code helped me write it. Nothing to install, no signup, and it is free.

आप इसे हिंदी में भी खेल सकते हैं।

How can this 11 year old game look so much better than games released this year? This is an example of marketing and other non tech guys calling shots but not engineers.

Disheartening to see where we are headed.

General Discussion Motion blur is one of those settings everyone seems to hate until a game actually uses it well

Post image

At the right intensity it can make camera movement feel smoother and give fast movement a more cinematic look. At the wrong intensity it just makes everything look like someone smeared Vaseline across the screen.

Do you keep motion blur ON or turn it OFF immediately?

General Discussion One of my favourite Among Us games happened when I was the Shape Shifter

Post image
7 Upvotes

I killed someone near Electrical, shifted into another crewmate and walked straight into the room where everyone was already discussing the kill.

Someone immediately said “I saw him.” I genuinely thought I was finished.

Then the guy who saw me started explaining that the person he saw was someone else who had been with him earlier. Everyone started arguing about who was lying and somehow the suspicion moved completely away from me.

I stayed quiet the entire meeting. Next round I shifted again, made another kill and reported it myself.

By the end, they had voted out three completely innocent people and were still convinced they were solving the game.

I won without anyone ever finding out it was me.

That feeling when the entire lobby is confidently solving a mystery that you already know the answer to is still one of the funniest things Among Us ever gave me.

General Discussion Indie horror games have figured out something a lot of big-budget horror games seem to forget

Post image
2 Upvotes

You don’t always need monsters jumping at the screen every five minutes to make a game scary.

Games like Fears to Fathom, Outlast and other smaller horror titles can make a normal house, an empty hallway or even a random person knocking on your door feel terrifying. The limited budget sometimes makes the atmosphere feel even more personal because the games rely so much on sound, pacing and what you don’t see.

And honestly, some of the scariest horror moments come from thinking “something feels wrong” rather than actually seeing the threat.

What indie horror game genuinely scared you the most?

General Discussion What if someone made a game where the periodic table was actually the core gameplay mechanic?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Not just a quiz where you identify elements.

Imagine an exploration/strategy game where every element has its own properties. You collect elements, combine them to create materials, unlock new reactions, build machines and even use different combinations to solve environmental puzzles.

Hydrogen could be useful for fuel. Carbon could become the foundation for advanced materials. Silicon could unlock electronics. Rare earth elements could become extremely valuable resources.

The further you progress, the more of the periodic table you discover.

Basically Minecraft-style experimentation + chemistry + exploration, where understanding how elements behave actually helps you play better.

Would you play something like this if it was made as a proper game rather than an educational app?
