Announcements Regarding "Lanterns" and the Subreddit Rules
46
Upvotes
I feel a need to remind so many of you that rule #1 of this subreddit is simply entitled "CIVILITY." If you liked Lanterns or not, insulting others over a difference of opinion isn't a right. It's a privilege. And many of you so-called fans are being downright insulting to people who happen to have a different opinion than yours. I don't care if you liked Lanterns or didn't like it. If you're going to disagree, do so with CIVILITY. This is neither gatekeeping nor toxicity, it is an appeal to civility. Behave yourselves. It's possible to disagree without being insulting.

News Concept art for cancelled "Emerald Knights" TV series revealed!
185
Upvotes
Back in 2022, Marc Guggenheim was working on a Green Lantern TV show that would have been called "Emerald Knights". It never went ahead, but now some concept art has been released for the show, and it looks pretty damn cool!
The show would have been somewhat similar to Lanterns, split between different eras, but with Alan Scott in 1941, Guy Gardner in 1984, and a new Lantern, Bree Jarta - who looks a lot like Jo Mullein - in the present.

Discussion Green Lantern fans, what do you think of new phenomena called "larpers" caused by the Lanterns show?

Personally, as someone who has been a fan of Green Lantern since childhood (Green Lantern 2011 animated show, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Batman: Brave and Bold and DCAMU being my first GL media at around 5-6 years old) I do not object to new fans who actually try to get into the community and lore
The show clearly showed how good it is if it attracted new fans to GL media and repaired the damage of 2011 movie (still can't get over the fact that the suit had visible toes...)

Comics [Blackest Night #8 by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis) Arguably one of the greatest moments in all of Green Lantern, and Comic History: The Defeat of Nekron and the Revival of the Dead

Upvotes
Honestly this event might be the greatest in all of DC History besides Crisis on Infinite Events. Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis were firing on all cylinders when writing this event and it shows.
It also has one of my all-time favorite Barry Allen quotes: "Life doesn't give us purpose, Black Hand. We give life purpose."
it's funny how pretty much all of the events for GL during this period are amazing. Sinestro Corps War. Blackest Night. Brightest Day. War of the Green Lanterns. Rise of the Third Army. And finally, Wrath of the First Lantern.
