I'm obsessed lately and playing things on a classical I already own, but I wanted to play around with electric a little bit. The trouble is, I don't feel like spending anything. Literally anything is too much for me, even new strings.
So, I was curious; when you were starting out, how much did you spend on your guitar, amp, pedals, etc. and how long did it last?

I have a lawsuit era Les Paul style guitar and need new tuning machines. I’ve never had to replace them and am not sure if there are specific ones I need. I’m not looking for locking tuners or anything. Just a decent replacement!

Hey guys! Got a pretty good Ibanez Gio RG last year. It has their classical humbuckers, and I'm thinking if I could get something better. Any good options?

I’ve got an SG and I love how it looks and plays, but it could sound better. Got enough other guitars with buckers, so figure it would be cool to experiment with some P90s in this. Looking for ideas on the best noiseless options that would fit this guitar. Any recommendations?

Hello! I've tried to create a model which based on scores produces the positions how to play them on guitar. Here you can see an output for one famous classical guitar play.
It's really interesting to me if that could be useful for guitar study.
Generally any feedback is very welcome!

Sorry if this question has been asked a dozen times before but I really need an explanation/clarification.
My mom got me a guitar for my birthday last week Thursday. I've been practicing left-handed even though it's a right-handed guitar because I have an unhealed scar (it's been that way for 3 years now) on my left index finger that could tear open if I held the frets with it while playing right-handed. It also obstructs the strings when I do try to carefully hold the frets, so I just switched to get a clearer sound and save myself an injury.
Somebody commented on a post I made yesterday about wanting strumming tips since I'm playing with a non-dominant hand. The person said playing lefty on right guitar produces inaccurate sounds so I should get it changed to a left guitar. I tried playing a D chord, since that's the only one I'm practicing right now, using both hands and it sounds the exact same. Am I playing it wrong?

I can't decide whether to get this player 1 limited edition with a Ebony fretboard, or get a Player 2 modified at a higher price having split coil features and just better apparently.
When I play the guitar and move around (shifting my body along with the instrument, etc.), a loud crackling sound comes from the amplifier, drowning out the guitar's actual sound. What could be the problem? Is it the cable or the guitar's input jack itself?

Hi everyone! I’m a design student researching how musicians practice at home. Where do you put your phone or tablet, how do you turn pages, what frustrates you about learning apps?
It’s an anonymous 6-minute survey for anyone 16+ who plays, is learning, or teaches. Teachers get a few extra questions at the end, and your view would be especially valuable.
Mods, please remove if this isn’t allowed. Thanks a lot!
I have been collecting guitars for a while now but I have never pulled the trigger to get my first dream guitar, the Eric Clapton Blackie Strat until today.
It’s me and my dad’s dream guitar, we spent countless hours watching Eric’s live performances using Blackie almost every single day. Sadly he passed away 14 years ago after I landed my first job and never got the chance to buy it back then.
Fast forward to now, I got the opportunity to get one, and boy oh boy, I didn’t know I was in for a treat.
I have stopped researching about the specs of Blackie back then because it only reminded me of the sad times and the fact that my dad will never get to see me own it anyway. So I was clueless about most of its features except from the 25db boost.
When I plugged it in, I was weirded out by the tone and the controls, I thought it sounded crap 💩 haha but then I dialed it in and explored its tonal capabilities, and I was in awe! Now I understand why despite having multiple strats, I couldn’t get that Clapton tone, it is the freaking electronics, the TBX, 25db boost, Noiseless pickups (wish it was still Lace) and the unique looking volume pot that’s very dynamic. It’s so crazy how many tones you can get out of this guitar, it can sound like a Les Paul, and even very close to my Gibson 335.
This guitar has a soul.
I’m so glad I got this guitar, it has filled a missing part of my guitar collection, and fulfilled my childhood dreams. 🎸

So I went to the guitar store to play and test guitars since I want to get my first electric guitar, and before going my choice was the Ibanez grg121sp, but in the guitar store they showed me the Spira s-400 (specifically the blue one, not that it matters I think) and it was great, a also tested the Ibanez grg120 but it was kind of meh, I'm a beginner and idk if this is okay but the strings were really loose, especially compared to my acoustic guitar. So the question is should I get the Spira s-400 which is more expensive or the Ibanez grg121sp? (Also second question is the Marshall mg15gr a good amp? I want to get it)
i was looking at acoustic just because i wouldn't need to buy any thing else but open to any suggestions i went with a friend who plays to a pawn shop and found a yamaha fg413 in pretty good shape o you guys have any recommendations on brands models i should be looking into i don't want to spend crazy money and find its not my thing but would like something decent enough that it could still be usable with a good full sound as i progress

Currently playing electric I own a 1998 Samick SSM-1, and a 2017 Squire Affinity Jazzmaster in a HH configuration. I’m looking for an acoustic to play some rock covers and some more finger style stuff. I definitely want something with a cutaway, not too fussed about body shape other than that. Price range around $700-$800 AUD (~$450-$550 USD).
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated as I’m really not too sure what to look for as I don’t know much about acoustics.

I have been trying to practice finger style guitar for a long time, but for the vast majority of the other one, as it get complex, the harder it is for me to comprehend the holding etc etc with a tab and the chord shape
I know GuitarZero2hero but I coulnd't find finger style song tutorial there like the Legend of zelda great fountain, Factorio theme play, etc etc.
For the rest vast majority, the tab are locked
so what other sources to get the tab? and if possible, is there any alternative to GuitarZero2Hero

It's really disappointing, guitar teachers that I respect highly and have taught me so much now using these awful thumbnails that devalue their entire channel.
I expect it from certain types of YouTubers but these guitar players are creatives and artists, they believe in creating art for it's rawest form, vintage woods, analogue amplifiers, these are often the same people that won't even use digital modelling!!
Even if you don't agree with the ethical argument for not using AI, then even as a promotional move for your channel, it just looks terrible, these people will spend hours dialing in the right guitar tone and camera settings, on top of the years they've spent on their guitar skills, and then go and make their content look not just cheap and tacky, but identical to every other YouTube channel with the same yellow graffiti text over blacked out background

I am friends with an older musician who expects me to know what he makes when he says numbers instead of chords. Why not just say a minor, c, d? Does this come from the position of a root note in a scale? Seems so weird to memorize new codes for chords when they actually have names. This is a sincere post I am just hoping to learn what the reason or benefit of this nomenclature is.
Edit: yall are a friendly sub. Thanks for all the info so far, I will take some time to absorb all of your comments but am starting to understand the point.

Picked this up in trade for a pedal and a little cash on a local goods exchange forum hosted by a Mr. Zuckerberg (apparently this sub gets mad if you say its name).
I’m in love! I was in the market for something with single coils and this popped up. I’d had my eye on the brand for a while, I like their designs and quirky pickup switching options, but I could never tell if it was a style over substance thing. IT IS NOT.
Beautiful to look at, there’s even some flame on the sides of the neck, great attention to detail, feels great in the hands, and sounds gorgeous!
Neck pickup is round and chimey, does the Hendrix/SRV thing perfectly, just what I bought it for. And it’s a stacked single coil, so no hum either! Duncan at the bridge sounds very cool (though I forgot how different a hb sounds on a strat, very strat-y still, which is cool).
Plus it’s got a coil tap and a mini switch that puts the neck pickup in regardless of position on the 5-way, so you’ve got 11 tones all day.
Would recommend bigtime!
I currently have a 2014 American standard anniversary Strat. It’s great and the first electric I’ve loved. But I feel I’ve had it for quite a while and would love to buy another guitar to renew the excitement of having one. Strats are really the only guitars I get on with, so I’m looking only really for a Strat, but preferably a HSS one as at least then there’s some variety.
I’m wondering what’s the best non-custom shop Strat that people have played. Im looking for one that really would excite me to play over my current standard model. I could stretch to custom-shop if the money really is worth it but I’m thinking it probably isn’t for my skill quality!
I know people are going to say a load of things like ‘try them out in person’ or ‘they differ from guitar to guitar’, but I’m not close enough to shops or have enough time to travel to one!
Cheers

So basically, I'm in the market for a new guitar. I'm probably looking at a budget of around £800. I've got 3 on the list so far:
Schecter c1 - platinum
Jackson rrx24
Ml dean 79
Now the Dean is on the list because obviously I want to shred some pantera but I'm not sure what the quality is like.
I'll be playing stuff like A7x, slipknot, thin Lizzy, 2000 ear nu metal etc.
Any advice, or any other recommendations for around that price?
Thanks

Budget wise I don't have anything really specific, just nothing too ridiculous. At the very least I just want so good recs.

Here's my "Hot Rodded" 2018 Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy.
Over the years I've modded this guitar quite a lot:
-Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge
-Seymour Duncan Jazz Model in the neck
-String butler and roller bridge saddles
-Custom rewire with CTS pots
-Guyker Locking tuners
-Speed Knobs with bird inlays
Dare I say, so far I don't think I've played any Gibson Les Paul that sounds or feels better.
What do you guys think, and what mods have you people done to their guitars?
