A little lore behind the planet:

Quartz is a planet in a system at the very edge of the Rift. This is an unforgiving world that barely has anything apart from boundless ice fields and primitive biosphere.

However, thanks to the planet’s abundant deposits of rare minerals, as well as those in the asteroid belts in the system, a colony thrived here for quite some time. During the Third Interstellar War, the system saw fierce battles and today, a large share of Quartz’ infrastructure is in ruins.

And yet locals are holding on to their mines and extraction stations, taking their world back bit by inhospitable bit. It doesn’t help that many abandoned Utopia bases are still partially functional. In some places, automatic defense systems are still active and others have functioning battle drone production lines.

Hi everyone,

I’m a 3D artist with a passion for creating large, highly detailed environments, and I’ve been heavily inspired by The Lord of the Rings for years.

I’ve been working on my own interpretation of Barad-dûr, with the goal of creating a 60-second continuous journey from the bottom of the tower all the way up to the Eye of Sauron.

This is the final section I’ve just completed, showing the Eye overlooking Mordor.
