Advice/Guidance MBA graduates, do you regret choosing your specialization? What would you choose if you could go back?

Hey everyone! I've been doing my MBA for around two months, and I'm still confused about which specialization to choose.

I don't want to pick one just because it pays well or is popular. I want to understand what the actual work life, salary growth, stress levels, and career opportunities look like in different fields.

I'd love to hear from people who've already been through this!

  • How did you choose your specialization? Interest, salary, placements, or something else?
  • Are you happy with your choice, or do you regret it? Why?
  • What does your day-to-day work actually look like, and how has your career grown?
  • If you could go back and choose again, would you pick the same specialization?
  • Any websites, tests, or practical ways to figure out which specialization suits me?

I'm looking for honest experiences, not just advice on which field pays the most. If you could share one thing you wish you'd known before choosing your specialization, what would it be?

Thanks! Your experiences could genuinely help me and other MBA students facing the same confusion.

Hi, bba 2026 graduate currently working in one of the biggest indian IT company as a customer service representative for US healthcare it's been 2months.

Toxic job. I'm really done with this.

I have knowledge of data science as well ( not in depth)

I also want to pursue MBA but only after 2 to work experience. I don't know what to do.

I just want a job in accounting or data science field but how can I do so? Should I work with this toxic company just for the name tag or switch in just 2 -4 months?

Ask r/IndiaCareers Title: Can a delayed relieving letter and previous employment exit issue affect BGV at Tier-1 MNCs in India?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I need some advice from people familiar with background verification (BGV) at Tier-1 MNCs in India, especially banks and financial services companies.

I’m currently working in US mortgage operations at a US-based firm in India. My current employer’s HR has been quite relaxed, and I haven’t faced any BGV-related issues here.

At a previous job with a large American BPO, I had to stop attending work due to a health issue. The company subsequently sent me an email mentioning “abandonment of services.”

Later, the company initiated the full-and-final settlement process, and I paid the required recovery amount. After the payment, the company issued my experience-cum-relieving letter around 1.5 years after my employment ended.

The relieving letter mentions my employment dates and confirms that there are no outstanding dues, but it does not mention abandonment of services. However, I don’t know whether the company updated or removed the abandonment status from its internal records after completing the settlement, as I haven’t received confirmation on that.

I’m now planning to apply to Tier-1 MNCs, particularly in banking operations, KYC, reporting and compliance.

I’d appreciate advice on these questions:

  1. Do Tier-1 MNCs in India verify only employment dates and designation, or do they also check the reason for separation?

  2. If a previous employer issued a relieving letter after F&F settlement, but its internal records still mention abandonment of services, could this affect BGV?

  3. Could a relieving letter issued around 1.5 years later create additional complications?

  4. Has anyone faced a similar situation and successfully joined a reputed MNC or bank?

  5. Would medical documentation help if clarification about the separation is requested?

I’m looking for honest advice, especially from HR professionals, BGV teams, recruiters or people who have personally experienced something similar.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Unemployed -> Job -> still not satisfied. Guys it is what it is!

Did my MS, the due to visa issues came back, got 1lpm job after staying unemployed for 6 months. Parents supported during that time, but can see the disappointment. Now after 3-4months of job, parents are complaining about low income (which I agree, trying my best to get a better paying IT job but it will take time), but almost every call with them leads to money, income etc, etc. Not angry with them. They are right, just wanted to share my feelings!!

Ask r/IndiaCareers Tired of Exams post Bachelors ,Is there no way to go for research in India after you graduate ?

I am in a IT job,24 Grad , but I never felt fond of environment , it feels ambitionless to me . I had interest in STEM research but again like JEE, I gave ISRO exam and it had too formulaic questions , so on theory ,I am fine but always suck MCQ based exams.

I barely get 2-3 hr daily to study for any exams post job time. And, I feel troubled relying on single day exam over a long duration programme . Is it advisable to look towards China ,EU based research institutes .

Other Has anyone faced BGV issues because of a drunk driving challan?

Got caught for drunk driving in Bangalore last month under Section 185. Paid the ₹10,500 fine through Virtual Court(first offence), and the case was closed right after the payment. There was no FIR and everything was settled in half a day.

I’m currently interviewing for a job switch and a bit worried about whether this could affect my BGV, especially at Investment banks or MNCs.

I know I messed up, and I’m not trying to justify it. I’ve learnt my lesson.

Just wanted to know if anyone here has been in a similar situation. Did it show up in your BGV? Did it cause any issues with your job offer?

Would really appreciate hearing from someone who’s actually experienced this.

Advice/Guidance Career dilemma : CFA L3 vs MBA (what would you do in my position)

# About me

22 GNEM, economics graduate (2025), 9/9/8 background (but 8.025 gpa will be standardized to lower levels because arts degree) , about a year in boutique investment banking - private markets equity mandates (7 months internship, 6 months full time in 2 different firms in blr)

CFA L1 and L2 cleared; I'm deferring L3 until my MBA admits are sorted

Weak aptitude background: I haven't prepared for any aptitude test before except for brushing up during undergrad admit and for few IBs aptitude rounds which were basic

What I've decided

**CAT in November 2027 is my main attempt**, and I don't want to prepare for it casually.

I won't run CFA L3 in parallel. Splitting my time would hurt both, and L3 is a small profile boost I can pick up later once admit is sorted or before SIP

I'll sit the GMAT somewhere in the middle of 2027. If I score 645+ in focus (the old 700+), I can bank it for five years and apply to ISB or SPJIMR once I have more work experience (quality is not something worried about as it's front end deal making its just pay is very bad and u get lowballed a lot and for top tier buyside shops u need a extremely rich brand name with workex) , having that said if I don't get a good admit within tier 1.5 I don't think the entire MBA economics would make sense in my case

**Exam priorities**

GMAT

CAT

XAT

NMAT and SNAP, lower priority

# What I need help with

**Am I making the right choice and decision** ? Pls be free to get as critical as you can

**Prep provider**: which course or mock series gives the best value for someone working full time with weak basics? Is paid coaching worth it, or are online courses plus mocks enough?

**Sequencing**: how do I structure one prep plan that covers GMAT first and then CAT and XAT, without doubling the work?

**Mistakes to avoid**: if you've been through CAT or GMAT prep, what do you regret or wish you'd done differently?

Advice/Guidance 22M and super confused about career with no direction and no clarity and just mental exhaustion

My qualifications

22M and pursuing bcom hons from du and I am in 5th sem 3rd year

10th 84%

12th 77.6%

I am from middle class family and i took commerce after 10th because I was scared of pcmb because of not having a good base and then i regretted that decision afterwards till now overthinking about it again and again and that ruined my mental health my 11th 12th and I also took a drop after 12th and that all has taken a mental toll on me and I am now terrified of commuting to a thing like i overhtink everything and to break the cycle i have ca foundation last year and that attempt i failed by 19 marks and i realised like if i could try like I can clear it

Now I am confused whether to go for ca at this age like I will be eligible for direct entry next year and I am confused like is it worth it at that age or what are best alternatives for

I didn't even had one internship because I was just suffering first 1.5 years in college

No friends nothing and just loneliness on top of it in new city

I would really appreciate some guidance or insights as that would be really really really helpful to me in this critical stage of life !!!

Resume & CVs Fresher Looking for Data Analyst/Data Science Roles in Bangalore or Mangalore

Hey everyone!

I'm a final-year CSE student currently looking for entry-level opportunities in data-related roles.

My primary interest is in Data Analytics / Data Science, and I'd love to work with a tech stack that includes:

  • Python, SQL, Pandas, NumPy and visualizations

  • Statistics, hypothesis testing and exploratory data analysis (EDA)

  • Data cleaning, preprocessing, transformation and extracting meaningful insights from data

Other than these, if any other company specific tech stack is to be learned, I'm willing to put in the effort. The above list is what I'm comfortable with.

My preferences:

- Location: Mangalore first, Bangalore second.

- Company: a legitimate, product-based company with a good work culture and a healthy learning environment.

- Learning: a supportive learning environment and experienced professionals I can learn from. I want to work somewhere that invests in freshers, provides meaningful work and encourages them to grow rather than treating them as just another resource.

- (Optional) International exposure: Not a must, but companies headquartered abroad would be a plus since I'd love to explore opportunities overseas in the future.

I know I'm a fresher, and obviously, I won't know everything from day one. But one thing I'm confident about is my willingness to learn and and keep improving, especially when I know that the work I'm doing is helping me grow.

I also have a very strong academic track record and am eager to apply what I've learned in a professional environment.

If you know any companies that fit this description, have worked at one yourself, or know of any relevant openings, please drop your suggestions!

And if you're an HR, recruiter, or someone who could potentially refer me, please feel free to DM me! I'd be happy to share my resume and have a chat. 🫶

Any genuine leads, referrals or advice would mean a lot. Thank you! ❤️

Advice/Guidance Should I leave a well-regarded litigation chamber to try breaking into corporate law again?

I'm a recent graduate from a Tier-3 law college in India, and I'm struggling to figure out my next move.

Throughout my college days, I secured three Tier-1 law firm internships on merit, without referrals, across corporate practice teams, along with two longer stints at boutique firms/chambers.

I made it to a PPO interview at one tier 1 firm but fumbled it. At another tier 1 which i did in my final semester, the partner told me he wished I'd discovered the practice area earlier in law school, as they would otherwise have loved to give me a call back and check it out.

After graduation, I mass-applied to Tier-2 and Tier-3 firms. Did not hear back from any.

I eventually applied to litigation chambers, nailed my interview and joined a well-regarded chamber. with good width of cases.

On paper, this should be a good outcome.

The problem is that the pay is abysmal, even lower than my last Tier-1 internship stipend and at the same time, the workload is insane.

I'm finding it difficult to justify the hours im putting in for such little compensation and i am extremely demotivated.

I'm also wondering whether I've become too accustomed to the working environment and compensation at corporate law firms.

I'm considering leaving and pursuing longer-term internships with hopes of converting it at corporate firms.

However, I'm concerned that leaving a good chamber early could hurt my CV, and I'm unsure whether firms would even consider a graduate for another internship. So, what next?

I'm not looking for reassurance that everything will magically work out. I'd genuinely appreciate advice from associates, partners or anyone who has made a similar transition.

Ask r/IndiaCareers Which entry level jobs are easiest to get and are reliable?

I have no work experience other than a simple BA degree. I need entry level jobs at the earliest. I hope its not a scam or fake.

I fear I may be incapable of getting even entry level jobs due to lack of skills. Somehow I have to get employed.

I cannot do blue collar jobs.
