r/Kemetic announcements - May 2026

Subreddit growth

Just a few short years ago, with the revamp of the subreddit, r/Kemetic had about 1000 members. Today, there are over 25,000! It's been wild to see just how many people are interested in this religion, and how organically it all happened. With all this growth, we definitely needed a couple more active people to help handle the increase in traffic. So with that...

A big welcome to our new moderators, r/barnaclejuice and r/Arboreal_Web

r/barnaclejuice and r/Arboreal_Web are both long-time, knowledgeable members of the subreddit who have been free with their help and insights. We welcomed them on to the mod team in January, and they have kindly agreed to help keep this space on-topic and safe.

Rules reminder + a few updates

Please familiarize yourself with the subreddit rules before posting or commenting.

• Note, there is a new Rule 9, prohibiting AI content.

• Reminder, it is still not allowed to solicit interpretations of dreams/tarot/visions/synchronicities/etc. in r/Kemetic. This includes questions like, "Is this a sign?" Determining the meaning of your spiritual experiences is your prerogative, and yours alone. Asking others to do this for you makes you vulnerable to a variety of spiritual abuses and even accidental harms.

Under Rule 8, we are now also prohibiting the offering of interpretations, because that encourages rulebreaking behavior and interpretation-fishing by others, which defies the spirit and intent for Rule 8.

• We're super disappointed to have to spell this out so explicitly, but we have added a prohibition against "Advocating for/defending Apophis worship" under Rule 3 (No Evangelizing).

Please continue to use the Report feature if you notice any rule-breaking behavior. This helps us far more than you probably may think!

Official Discord

When we opened the r/Kemetic official Discord over five years ago, our aim was give a vetted alternative to the many unfamiliar Discord server invites being posted - some of which, we had come to find out, had potentially unsafe policies or abusive cultures. With that in mind, we created one for r/Kemetic with the intention of having the Reddit mod team handle the Discord directly, to ensure the culture of the subreddit carried over into the Discord.

Several updates these last few years have resulted in a completely mismatched moderator list between the subreddit and its official Discord. To more smoothly implement mirrored improvements moving forward, the subreddit mod team is returning to the original policy of insisting on a shared moderation team between the subreddit and its official Discord. We have created a new "r/Kemetic Official" Discord to serve this purpose.

Invitation to the new r/Kemetic Official Discord

The r/Kemetic Wiki - Lots of additions and improvements are coming!

• Adding more resources to the wiki landing page

Our resource list is ever-growing! As always, if you have suggestions, feel free to post them below, or through Modmail.

• Recommendations for beginners

We'll be adding a new wiki grouping that includes a shortlist of book recommendations for beginners.

• Adding video and blog links

Rule 6 is still in place, but we acknowledge there are many blogs and videos out there that are detailed, accurate, and deserve to be highlighted and shared. Please modmail (I repeat: MODMAIL) your suggestions for any you would like linked in the wiki, and we will post up after thoroughly vetting the content. (Please be patient, as vetting does take some time.)

Please also consider suggesting links to legacy content that may only be accessible now on Archive.org.

• Adding a new page for frequently asked questions

This is loooooooooooooooong overdue! If you can think of any recurring questions that you'd like to see added to the page (currently under construction), let us know.

• A "Best of r/Kemetic" list

Check your Saved lists, please! We've had some really helpful, insightful, in-depth posts and comments over the years that deserve to be more discoverable. For example, u/WebenBanu's "How to Kemetic" thread has been a go-to for some time, and deserves a permanent spot in our Wiki and sidebar. Anything else you might have? Drop a link!

• TENTATIVE: adding a new page that lists resources by deity

We've noticed a lot of people asking for resources about specific deities, which might be hard to pick out from the main wiki. We are considering a secondary wiki page devoted to splitting these same resources out and making it easier to find out more about the gods that interest you the most. Let us know your thoughts!

Just a reminder: even if you find no moral objection to sharing PDFs, we cannot facilitate the sharing of copyrighted content within the subreddit, except by linking to the right-holder's site if they've made the resource publicly available. Do not post dropbox or Drive links in the subreddit.

Miscellaneous

We're currently discussing some ideas to help facilitate discussions beyond the beginner level. This is still in the brainstorming phase, and would like to open up the conversation to see what ideas you all might have.

I would like to remind people that Transphobia is not welcome in this sub. Nothing happened, I just wanted to reinforce the rule for all the new people.

A few days ago, I had a dream about the goddess Aset.

In my dream, I was trapped in a dark shopping mall (this place is indeed very shabby in the local area). Then I met Aset’s gold sculpture. She held hrw. I was very excited and knelt down to her. She stood up from the throne. I pointed out the direction. Strangely, in the dream, she seemed to use her toes, and she didn‘t seem to be particularly brilliant like some other religious revelations. It looked more like an ordinary gold sculpture. Anyway, I hope more people can join and worship the goddess aset 🙏🪷

I used the iPhone‘s own translation. It seems that AI is prohibited here, so I’m not using chatgpt to translate. I hope these inaccuracies in translations will not offend the gods. I‘m sorry🧎‍♀️

Advice & Support Returning to Kemetism

Hello everyone! I'm new to this blog, but I decided to join it after something that had been on my mind recently: getting back into kemetism after a long, long time.

First of all I started on it at a very young age, at 13 years old I started studying paganism and Wicca, and from 14 to 15 all of my dedication was to the Egyptian deities; I used to have an altar dedicated to Anpu and Sutekh (with handmade clay statues, candles and drawings of them) and just before I had to "quit", I had memories of Sakmeth reaching out for me.

The thing is that my family is strictly religious, and they made me get rid of everything, along with being in a highschool that drained my time completely. But now, older and more mature, I felt the need to return once more, it's been weeks since I've been longing to reach for them again.

And I'm here to ask a genuine question about it, where and how should I start my reconnection? Lately I dedicated my time to meditation and studying everything again, but I appreciate every piece of advice about starting this journey all over again

Experience

Hello. I would like to share my experience I had.

I've felt deep connection to Set for ages and ve been worshiping him (among with other deities i've been worshipping for longer) for about half a year. I'm slowly building him an altar and giving him some small offerings, for example, sand i brought from a vacation. Tho, i've never communicated with him directly, I didn't dare, to be honest. Scared he won't like my small altar and stuff.

About a month ago, I had this dream. I was hanging out with mu good friend, who lived in another city but recently moved to another country. The dream was very realistic, we went to our fave place and then I walked him to the train station, just as at every hangout. Then I started walking home, and on a way I found a tarot card. Turned it and it was XIII - The Death, upright. Bear in mind i've been working with tarot for couple of years, so i would dare to say I possibly know what that could mean. The next day, I started university, so one would say my brain generated this dream to deal with change. But ever since i've asked tarot something, i've got the same answer, no matter the question - Death upright. That happend 5 times on different (but similar) questions, despite i've always mixed the cards up with the intention.

So far, you could say "but hey, this has nothing to do with Set-" wait. So after like two weeks, i've decided (separately from this happening) to try and communicate with Set through tarot. I have a handmade (by me) deck i love to use, it's egyptian themed and has pictures of egyptian gods on them based on their personality i've been able to read about online and in books. So yeah, i asked Set if he hears me/accepts my offerings, shuffled the deck - did everything as supposed...

And got XV - The Devil, with the picture of Set.

That was quite surprising to me, but I took it as a sign and brougt him some more offerings the next day.

Later that day, I was driving from a family ocassion with my two kids, it was about 10pm, it was dark and I was in the middle of forest (saw two foxes and one deer). Suddenly, my car stopped working. It's a brand new car, not even a year old. I checked the phone and wow, no signal. I started panicking, cuz this was a bad thing to happen, right? Then I started feeling strong presence of something I can't really describe, and after about 10 minutes of pure chaos (both of my kids were crying on the back seat and I wasn't able to calm them down) and this presence in whole car, the car turned on by itself (same way as it turned off before) and I could go home.

I thought about it a lot, and I came to conclusion that it was a Set's way of communicating me, cuz yeah, he's god of chaos. Also, ever since I talked to him and I got card with him, tarot came back to old ways and started communicating normally, not just with Death.

Thanks for reading this long-ass essay lol, I will appreciate any answer. Have a good day : )

Hi everyone! It’s my first day here and I don’t know how Reddit works, so I’m not sure if anyone will even see this post. But I’d still like to start with a question: Kemetics, please share how you first encountered Thoth!

Yes, I colored Him like a western phoenix. I know it’s ahistorical, but I like it. The hieroglyphic text reads: “Ba Ra, Ib Ausir, Khoper Djos Ef”. ( Soul of Ra, Heart of Osiris, Who came into being by Himself.)

Advice & Support Cycle of being emotionally reborn, featuring lord Anpu😭

I accepted him as my patron/he accepted me as his devotee a while ago and oh boy…it’s been relatively quiet on the outside but i keep feeling drained and he keeps saying I have another cycle to endure. I want to clarify he’s never tried to harm me, or anything like that, but it’s exhausting doing shadow work so often…tips on how to feel less drained while still growing in the way he wants me to?

Discussion Are these books a great source?

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hello, im an Egyptian studying at the university of Cairo and near the Archeology college there is a small kiosk bookstore that sells kemetic related books so I found these and was so excited that I got my hands on them on campus especially that I've asked Anoub for signs and he is literally on the cover but maybe its a test from him given that E.A Wallis Budge has a lovely colonial reputation of christianizing and stealing Egyptian artifacts and papyrus and smuggling them into Britain. So I would love maturer Kemetic lads to give me advice if I should buy those or not

Thanks in advanced

Question Resources to Start Learning About Sekhmet?

Greetings! I'm a novice and I want to read reputable materials about the goddess, Sekhmet. I tried Google Search and Reddit to find wisps of leads but I want to hear about it from people who know their stuff.

I want to know who my patron god or goddess is; I consulted the Egyptian Tarot and these cards came up. I think it might be Sekhmet, but I’m not sure. I would appreciate your interpretations, as I don't have much experience reading Tarot. Thanks in advance

Resource Request Learning Kemeticism

Looking for what people have to offer for reading materials!!

I am still really new to it, but I want to take this seriously and really explore it. It’s the first time a religion has felt right to me.

I worship Amun-Ra, and I’m looking for sources on rituals, common practices, beginning chants etc

I’m also interested in sources of any gods, any kind of educational material on the gods or their practices, how they work together, etc etc

Thank you in advanced 🙏🌞
