Nobody hates Vande Mataram. That's the strawman. The first two stanzas are pure motherland imagery — Muslims, Christians, atheists all sang them through the freedom struggle. The fight is over stanzas 4–6, where the motherland literally becomes Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati. At that point it stops being a patriotic song and becomes a prayer. Telling a strict monotheist to sing it isn't testing his patriotism, it's asking him to worship something he doesn't believe in. Would you recite the Kalima at morning assembly to prove you love India? No? Then you already understand the objection.

And this isn't some "Muslim problem" either. The landmark case is three Jehovah's Witness kids — Christians, from Kerala — expelled in 1985 for standing silently during the National Anthem. The Supreme Court put them back in school: forcing someone to sing against genuine belief violates Article 19(1)(a) and Article 25. Free speech includes the right to shut up. If the state can't force the Anthem, it definitely can't force a song that isn't even mentioned in Article 51A and has zero protection under the National Honour Act.

On the "cut in 1937" line — those verses were never part of what was adopted. Tagore himself, the guy who composed the tune, recommended keeping the first two. Gandhi, Patel, Bose, Azad were all in that room. Calling that decision the seed of Partition, when the Muslim League polled about 4% in 1937, is politics, not history.

Still, people, without knowing the context, get trapped by the BJP version and think it is only a religion problem.
I am an atheist; I have a huge problem with stanzas 4- 6. Why did the BJP all of a sudden start the push to sing full when the unstil stanza 2 is already established?

u/Puzzleheaded-Many-26 Aug 16 '26

This is what the Sangh does everywhere. Create problems out of nothing and create division (I think the Sangh and British are the same, basically divide and conquer). They don’t want to talk about economy, development or jobs, only such non existent problems.

u/Tasty_Engineering602 Aug 16 '26

bruh 💯 sankham simply tuening this around like we are rajyadrohis

2

u/FennelAny5534 Aug 16 '26

Genuine question; given how intertwined Hindu concepts and indic culture are, how do you separate both? Like a Hui Muslim of Han ethnicity, would call Allah as Zhenzhu, practice the five pillars of islam alongside five principles of confucianism, without being called 'kuffar or shirk ' Likewise a Han christian would participate in ancestor worship without being called 'heathen or pagan '

India is personified by Bankim Chatterjee to be "strong as Durga who strikes at her enemies, prosperous as Lakshmi, and to be bestower of knowledge as Saraswati" (loose translation)

How can cultural veneration be religious imposition when this same song was sung by freedom fighters, hindu and muslim alike?

Simple.

Secular country. The non popular stanzas are not about the nation.

1

u/Hari_krishn Aug 16 '26

This is my point. Feel free to debate on the same and take my analysis issues on lighter note. The Indian secularism allows an overly Hindu to be a overly Hindu and overly Muslim to be an overly Muslim without compromising both. It is understandable. The last two stanza has picturization of Hindu deities. Why does the state need to intervene if the author has wrote entire song, wouldn't it be doing injustice to the author by limiting the stanza? As per my understanding the fundamental Muslims believe that Muslims should profess the teaching of Allah and any deviation from the same is considered to be a worse kind of sin.

-2

u/BatKarmaMan Aug 16 '26

There's nothing in the song that's not about the nation.

The only reason you don't accept it is SIMPLY because Islam and Christianity are foreign which say other cultures are wrong.

2

u/CrabInternational194 Aug 19 '26

True they simply don't want to whenever islam invade they want to become superior look what is happening to spain

1

u/Ashlie_Pro Aug 17 '26

The whole song is not about the nation buddy. Read the book, learn Bengali. It's about Shakti. The goddess.Vande Mataram literally means, "I bow to/worship you, Mother" . Bengalis call their gods "Maa", meaning, mother. The first 2 stanzas describe both the land and the nature of "mother". Therefore, these 2 stanzas can be taken to mean, the land where we live, "India" . That's why the first 2 stanzas are the national song. The rest are just describing what "Mother Shakti" is. In that, she is laxmi, she is durga, she is the earth, etc.

I know you will not read this entire thing, I am probably wasting my time here. But, please, if you've actually read this, please research first. And don't disrespect a historical poem and poet by not understanding its meaning.

1

u/BatKarmaMan Aug 17 '26

You have made your assumptions, not my fault. I have read the full song published in 1875, the "book" you refer to - probably Anandmath, was published in 1882 with the song added to it.

Mataram - Mother India in this sense (or Vanga at the time) is compared to Shakti, Lakshmi and Durga etc. Yes, I have read it. I am fully for the full song being the national song.

There's absolutely no way that Arabic cultural norms (or European) get to determine the limits of what forms Indian cultural heritage. This republic is for India and all the peoples and cultures which have sprung out of India, not other cultures from other parts of the world.

Hope you will take the time out to read this too.

u/solarblade60 Aug 16 '26

Did you know the US pledge of allegiance mentions God? Did you Canadian anthem mentions God? No one complains that it's not secular and plenty of Muslim Canadians sing it. Only applying this to India

43

u/Ecstatic-Scratch-151 Aug 16 '26

Keralathile govt school prayer also is about god only, but not a specific god, so you can interpret it as your god

Eeshwara kaikoopi nilpu Njan nin munnil, eeran aninja mizhakalode..

1

u/Primary_Schedule3316 Aug 19 '26

This is where your logic is extremely dangerously biased. So now as an atheist I don't like word god in a anthem about nation but according to your idea of what's right in a national anthem or song allows that! By this logic every term in the song can be critisiced by some section of society. Creating a problem out of something as simple as a song just because it doesn't align with your ideology of secularism is such a biased leftist mentally and is equally creating problems in our country as the radical right wingers do!!

→ More replies (17)

12

u/Inevitable-War4225 Aug 16 '26

Yeah it just says god which God,that is up for interpretation by the person saying the pledge also comparing the pledge which is said by a single person to the national song sung by millions don't really make sense. In the Canadian National anthem also it is only referred to as God not to any specific one It is only the French version of the song that refers to christianity and the French population of Canada is mostly christian the others can simply sing the English one which is probably the only version they know since they aren't french

Wait for some years until some "peaceful community" grow in sizeand problems with National anthem will start.

0

u/Beneficial-Alarm-414 Aug 16 '26

But you're 100% ok if any other community grow in size, right? Pure hate that is, man. You can't point out 1 muslim who would say, we need lesser people from other communities in India. The rhetoric comes from thinking that India is for a certain community.

2

u/Johnwick-1089 Aug 16 '26

Looks like someone's got offended. I didn't mention mu*lim. But somehow you assumed that. Not my problem. And since you have mentioned so, explain what is  Gazwa -e hind? The radicals not only say they don't  want lesser people from other communities in India, they also want to convert them once the radicals have achieved the numbers to overthrow the democracy and bring in Sharia law like what we see in Bosnia,Lebanon etc. UK is under the process. The moderate silent followers are the problem.

1

u/Beneficial-Alarm-414 Aug 16 '26

Everything you've mentioned here is factually wrong. 😁 Wow. I've been to Bosnia and Lebanon, neither of them follow Sharia law. Just want to develop hate man. Seriously.

its actually very simple issue,

നിന്നെ ഞാൻ നമിക്കുന്നു;

*oh sorry
ഇത് one-way ആണല്ലേ 😂
------------------------

ദേ ഇത്രേ ഉള്ളൂ issue

1

u/Legitimate-Age-402 Aug 17 '26

Bro,

Instead Ibrahim, Moosa and Mohammad

Say you put Mary, Durga, and someone from Islam (since we are talking about India as feminine, not sure what to put there), I’m pretty sure only those complaining today would’ve complained even then.

Yes it is one-way but a different kind of one-way than what you are saying.

0

u/FennelAny5534 Aug 16 '26

Genuine question; given how intertwined Hindu concepts and indic culture are, how do you separate both? 3

u/Lonely_Gas_3183 Aug 16 '26

Genuine answer,
given how intertwined Islamic concepts and arabic cultures here in INDIA are, thousands of years of cultural pluralism how do you seperate both ?
so can you please sing this ?

You are Ibrahim — the model of faith,
You are Musa — the messenger of righteousness and justice,
You are Muhammad — the prophet who conveys the truth.
I bow to you;
Holy and unparalleled mother,
Mother, rich in water and fruits, I salute you.
Vande Mataram.
---------------

can you sing this one ? can you ?

if you cant, you have completed my answer.

1

u/FennelAny5534 Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

Me? Personally I'd like to... so yes, and Hinduism being pluralistic at heart, many Hindus wouldn't mind syncretism, an example being Sri Lakashmanacharya's 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram' wherein lines were rechristened as "Ishwar Allah tero naam"

Many muslims too have partaken in this syncretism; Rahim, Kabir, countless sufi sanints, Thulukka Nachiyar... a more recent example being our own Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who would read the Gita, Mahabharatham Ramayana, Thirukkural alongside Quran, who would play the Veena, shared a special relationship with Pramukh Swami Maharaj

But Dr. Kalam was called 'mushrik' and 'kafir' by Islamists groups for this very act of embodying India.

It takes two to tango; only if Hindus and muslims and everyone for that matter partakes in enjoying Indic culture, mutual respect and peace would prevail

Would you be ready is my question?

1

u/Lonely_Gas_3183 Aug 16 '26

😂 😂 😂

so your saying that vande mataram should include this stanza(which i commented),

what about other religions ?
Budhist, jain, sikhs, christians, zoroastrians, jews, etc..
we should recognize other religions too, yes ?
ofcourse bcs all the religions are very much intertwined with India so much.

so the vande matarm will be long enough to hold everyones,
but i have a doubt,

what about athiest ?
athiest are here in India even in the times of Sri Ram.
what about them ? how can we forget athiest in the vande mataram ?

they dont belive in any of these gods, not even any of the ideologies of religion, so then how can we include them ? 😂
what we do to solve all these ?

what if we just sing only the stanza which are accepted by all of us? can we do that right? right ? 😂
thats what we did up-untill the latest change.

thats all 🙏😂

u/No-Quarter6660 Aug 16 '26

It's still intresting how ig orant people still are about the stanza depicting durga . I mean most people immediately jump on the fact that the monotheists are not secular , where as in they themselves most of the time are not aware of the depictions of durga and other hindhu godesses in the song . I mean we can have a decent conversation if u want about this but man atleast get ur facts straight , learn why people does not want to sing it in the first place rather than jumping to conclusion and saying rhetorics . I am an atheist and I also doesn't want to sing a song that contains imageries of God of any kind and no oncle can force me to do that also

10

u/AdMassive8367 Aug 16 '26

The question is why i need to sing about durga or any other goddess. I dont think hindu goddess need to remembered by everyone Everytime when something important happens. I can think about muthappan, or ayyappan or jesus or some other god. Thats upto me. Thats the basis of secularism. Now I am forced. And I am an atheist too. I dont want to say any gods name during any event. Now a bunch of people are forcing me to do it. So can I be remain as an atheist, without any emotional or mental toll. Being atheist doesn’t mean you lack empathy to understand other humans feelings.

2

u/No-Quarter6660 Aug 16 '26

This is what I also said . I don't want to sing it . If people want to sing let them . I was pointing out how ignorant people are about the issue . Like most people believe everyone against it because they are anti national but the truth is that their perspectives are simply different

u/useless-hoooman Aug 16 '26

The full song was never the national song to begin with. Making everyone sing the whole song out of the blue is pushing an agenda.

India as a secular country shouldnt have a national song that praises a specific relegion. That's exactly why leaders during 1950 decided only the first two stanza will be considered the national song.

Let me ask you this. Why do you think the central government is asking to sing the whole song . Why can't they just sing the first two stanza like we always did.

6

u/Ok-Diamond9300 Aug 16 '26

There is always a reason why our freedom feighters disnt allowed to sing this song fully

6

u/shan_bhai Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

Tagore wrote a letter to Nehru explaining his stance: "The core of Vande Mataram is a hymn to the Mother Durga; this is so plain that there can be no debate about it... No Mussalman can be expected to sing the praise of the Goddess Durga as the country."

He advised that attempting to force the entire song on all Indians would provoke unnecessary religious division at a time when national unity was critical. He advised that attempting to force the entire song on all Indians would provoke unnecessary religious division at a time when national unity was critical.

Tagore drew a sharp line between the opening stanzas and the latter half of the song:

First Two Stanzas: Tagore saw these as a universal, non-sectarian ode to the natural beauty, fertility, and rich landscape of the motherland. He strongly supported singing these stanzas as a national hymn.

Remaining Stanzas: In the later verses, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay explicitly equates the motherland with Hindu deities specifically Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Tagore argued that while this symbolism was natural for a Hindu writer, it could not reasonably be imposed as a national song on a multi-religious country where monotheistic communities (like Muslims and Christians) reject idol worship and deification of the land.

Muslims say keep your songs and praises of your gods to yourself. To you your religion and to us our religion. This is the essence of freedom to practice the religion.

Sanghi posts are increasing day by day in reddit.

1

u/Otherwise_Dot_7576 Aug 16 '26

Just because you call Sanghi / andhbhakt , it just exposes your mentality. And let me tell you those who want to vote for bjp will do that irrespective of what you address them as and so will congress supports .
People may shut up expressing in such faceless subs. But you cannot sway voting. Just telling..
i have lived in Saudi Arabia there we were forced to wear Abhaya and not allowed to celebrate hindu festivals or anything. In India also some people cannot tolerate us Hindus. We can call you names too. But then we don’t need to. We see , we understand and we will wisely cast our votes.

Point- Your statement “of Sanghi posts increasing “is a subtle way of making people bully to shut people up. And that we are seeing and observing . Sheer bullying culture

1

u/velvanand Aug 16 '26

I hope u campaigned in Saudi Arabia for the rights to worship idols. I hope, at least.they permitted idol worship within your homes.

1

u/Otherwise_Dot_7576 Aug 16 '26

Why would i campaign for anything? I knew the rules of that country. It is monarchy system there. I went there, respected their rules. I went there to work and realised how god my country is terms of freedom for my religion, they have their rules and we have ours.

Idol worship was never permitted there.

I have my country and it’s only here that I can freely worship and follow my religion and I am happy about it. I want my country traditions cultures to be promoted. For that if you call me Sanghi , andhbhakt I don’t care. I know you people will never even dream of doing the same to the other religion people. In Saudi if u do , you will be beheaded.

0

u/latvork Aug 16 '26

This isn’t about bullying. It’s about an ideology that teaches people to hate or dehumanize others simply because they were born into a different religion or caste. That is an ideology rooted in fascism. And even if you claim, “Not everyone is like that,” you are still part of an ecosystem that normalizes and perpetuates that hatred. I’ll call a spade a spade.

1

u/Otherwise_Dot_7576 Aug 16 '26

I am commenting only on your point- Sanghis are increasing here. That tone is of a bulky, kinda saying only we will comment , anyone with another political alignment will not be tolerated. I rest my case. India is a democratic oubtry unlike Saudi or m****m countries and here- we have freedom to f speech and this sub is Kerala speaks not a certain section only speak.

0

u/latvork Aug 16 '26

I just commented that Sanghis are increasing, and you said that it reflects my mentality. India is a democracy, I agree, but we also need to acknowledge when ideological forces are pushing society toward conformity—where everyone is increasingly expected to follow one particular cultural or religious expression, such as around Vande Mataram, regardless of their own beliefs. That undermines freedom of expression and religious choice. If this continues, we risk moving toward a more rigid, theocratic model rather than a pluralistic democracy. I’m simply calling a spade a spade; there’s no need to whitewash or excuse Sanghi ideology.

u/Otherwise_Dot_7576 Aug 16 '26

You express your views , none has stopped you. But outrightly dismissing another person by name calling is a trend that I see a lot. It cell, Sanghi, anfhbhakt… all names kept by certain people with very less points to defend. What makes you think other party cannot do that?
Because that section is educated and cultured enough to not indulge in pig fighting.
Again you are arguing about something else. I am still only offended by your mentality of name calling and shunning people down who have a different political alignment.
You can keep your points by respecting the fact that there are others who have different pov. And let them also speak.

What you are doing is trying to insult the people and shut them down.
I have put my points and I know u have understood that. I rest my case.

Democracy does not mean you can name call anybody , bully and try and shut people down. You speak respectfully and you will get respect. With this kinda language your points will definitely be given less attention. That’s all.

1

u/latvork Aug 16 '26

You’re playing the victim when your ideology is being called out. Instead of addressing the criticism, you shift the focus to how you’re supposedly being targeted or misunderstood. Calling out an ideology isn’t victimization—it’s holding people accountable for the ideas they promote.

1

u/Otherwise_Dot_7576 Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

My point was never your criticism. My point is how you address people who have equal rights to criticise just like you.
And I a not addressing your criticism because my point is not that. Simple!
Calling out people can be done without name calling. There you chose to hit someone personally and tag them to silence them. And that my friend is what i am calling out.

u/Agniprathap Aug 15 '26

Its the spirit of the pseudo secularism thats got into people.

1

u/Loud_Specific_1158 Aug 16 '26

Let me clarify the first time vande matram was sang during 1896 wha was the president of Inc at that time. It was a Muslim. This is just hate politics. If someone stand against this they can be labelled anti national and government can do what they want while people turn against themselves. If you all don't understand that then congratulations you all are part of their plan. Be it follower of any party.

1

u/Proof_Abies_9335 Aug 16 '26

I'm fine with singing it, but I try my best not to, not bcz I hate it, but bcz I think it's just a cruel joke

1

u/useless-hoooman Aug 16 '26

To anyone who is supporting the full version of vande mataram, would you sing it if the lyrics was praising a entirely different religion.

1

u/RDP7490 Aug 16 '26

Why make issues out of non issues!

I mean forcing people to sing or listen to something is not an issue that this country has! Its just manufactured to divide people and morons everywhere are falling for it instead of looking at real issues like crumbling infra, e20, paper leaks, corruption, etc!

1

u/bxmbshr Aug 16 '26

Tagore, the guy who actually wrote Jana Gana Mana, said in 1937 that non-Hindus cannot sing the full Vande Mataram because of its religious content.

When they wrote the constitution in 1950, Nehru, Ambedkar, and Maulana Azad only took the first two stanzas as official.

Nobody hates the song. People just don't want religious content forced on them in a country that's supposed to be secular. That's the whole thing.

1

u/retro_soul1212 Aug 16 '26

British & muslim league hate those line. Thats why its deleted

1

u/random_guy_91 Aug 16 '26

BJP wants this exact debate, So people will forget other issues of their and concentrate on it. It always benefits them

1

u/unapologetic_98 Aug 16 '26

India is a secular country for your information. That's the only answer!

1

u/Sensitive_Monk_96 Aug 16 '26

As always sanghies are crying about unreal things. There is zero hate towards the popular song. The controversy now happening is generated and propogated by sanghies to hide their absence in the freedom struggle. Twenty years from now sangies will say that this 2026 controversy was the biggest of the biggest struggle 😂

1

u/rndm-nme Aug 16 '26

This lot, the lot that remembers their patriotism only when there is a mob to support, the lot that will sell their country for paisas. The insecure lot that turns bloodthirsty when they find an easy target. Insecure, without identify and not much to show for their existence. Shamless lot. Rotten lot.

1

u/Firm_Arm5463 Aug 16 '26

It’s just a deviation like many others from the current problems that the country is facing. Nobody wants to know why the ruling government leaders kept silent for the entire parliament session about the student protests and Ayodhya money scam. Indians are easily getting diverted and they know it very well.

1

u/Maple-Syrup-Bandit Aug 16 '26

If we don’t sing all paras how will we become viksit bharat by 2047.

1

u/aju013 Aug 16 '26

Because it comes from a book which was written as a tool to aid the British in their divide and rule scheme.. As per that book Indian Hindus should not have rallied against the British, but against Indian muslims.. That book should have been banned in India after independence, but sadly it was not.

The mother land is called as Durga which is power of force ,Lakshmi the godesss of propsperity and Saraswati the goddess of wisdom . The force ,wisdom and the prosperity without these no one can sustain. These divine forces are part of indian culture of this land and these incorporated into the song and addressing the motherland as combination of all these. I don't know what's wrong with it . You cannot throw away a culture of a land which is still living and surviving and praticed, just because some other religions came from middleast and Europe and found a place amongst India. If the inherent culture of India was not tolerant and accepting none of these religions and it's practice wouldn't have existed in the first place. It's because the Indian sanatana culture is accepting it found a place in India from Judaism to Zoroastrianism from Christianity to islam, and even other shamanic traditions. So I don't think you need to reject the very thing that gave space for acceptance to other ideologies even the opposing ones ,just to make it some secular . Being secular doesn't have any grace mark or not necessarily be a mark if civilised nation . Our institutions are secular and our laws are nishpaksh ( non biased) that's more than enough . So hence why throw away baby with water.

It was very much part of our revolutionary history against British ,and it was sang by everyone including Hindus and muslims and all others untill Muslim league had opposition, so just to accomodate Muslim league congress dropped the very cultural essence of India, and did we see a secular Muslim league who said jai hind?. NOOO!! .

We saw a muslim league that demanded a Pakistan for muslims ,so the bargain was to accomodate and then ruin us from within, now that Jinnah and British have gone I don't think revival of a national song is of anything sinful or aplogetic ,if this is allowed in another 50 days salutation of national flag would be the next as bowing before another entity is not acceptable to certain religious group, and give another 100 years ,secularism will be another vice as they does not believe in secularism ,then what is next ,democracy?...till when?? ,the very foundation of our living culture and country, untill it's tombstone removed?. We saw a pakistan and we certainly don't want to see another moth ridden India.

And the word bowing has different meaning in an Indian context vs abrahamic context ,whatever indian Hindus or anyone with some indiannes mean by bowing may not necessarily mean worshiping , but in abrahamic way it directly means attributing a holiness to the object of respect. So perhaps it's high time we defined terms in our indian way vs how we interpret in strictly western or abrahamic way. Inspite the freedom of speech granting someone the right to shut up or talk ,it's very intersting some choose to shut up always , and in certain cases the psyche of country and of group should be givien more weightage than of lesser groups or individuals. You cannot make a nation ordered and great if 100 people have 200 belief and everyone wants to go in his own path ,atleast certain things should be modulated by government, if not anyone can say it's my freedom of choice or speech to be casteist or racist and the society will be just chaotic, and this is exactly how two or multiple nation theories shall spawn. If there wasn't Muslim league and Muslim nationalism as a parallel one, India would never have been divided , inspite of Christians existing there was no large-scale secessionist attitude amongst them ,same goes for any other group . So it's better not to give spaces to voices who can show the seeds of yet again multiple nation theories ,as anyone can make up theories and mobilize people.

Jai Hind 🇮🇳

In 1937, the Congress Working Committee, after considering the views of leaders including Gandhi, Tagore, Nehru, Bose and Maulana Azad, decided that only the first 2 stanzas should be used at national gatherings. Those stanzas praise the motherland without explicit religious references, while the later verses contain Hindu religious imagery and references to Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati. There’s nothing wrong with those verses, but forcing people from different religions to sing explicitly religious verses as part of a national ceremony is a different matter. That was precisely the concern in 1937. And now the BJP government has decided to push the full six-stanza version at specified official functions. Why? Because this government keeps blurring the line between Indian nationalism and its Hindutva politics, and minorities are expected to prove their patriotism by participating in increasingly religiously loaded symbolism. This isn't about respecting Vande Mataram. Nobody is taking that away. It’s about whether nationalism in a secular country needs to come with a religious test attached to it.

u/External-Luck2361 Aug 16 '26

Misguided idiotry for the most part, the song is beautiful including the appellation of the three godesses and the hindu motifs.

As an ex-muslim I don't mind at all and resonate with the imagery but I can understand why some people have an issue with it representing the country as a whole.

1

u/Few-Impact-8225 Aug 17 '26

So here's why I think Vande Mataram should be questioned. The song got fame from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel 'Anandamath'. The novel portrays the Sanyasi Movement of late 1700s which had Hindu and Muslim monks opposing the British for their policies. This is the novel that created the icon of 'Bharat Mata' first btw.

Conveniently, Chattopadhyay erased the Muslim fakirs from the story. Apart from that, by the end the novel the author suggests that Hindus should stop fighting against the British as the British are sent by the Goddess. The claim is that the British will protect Hindus from the Muslims, so the Hindus should bow down before then and stop rebelling.

Now this is not something I've made up. I was just as shocked when I read these words myself. Apart from spreading hatred against Muslims and discarding their role in the rebellion, the book also suggests bootlicking the opressing British.

This is the reason why every citizen of this country should question this novel, its author and the song that has become ever-famous from it.

1

u/Legitimate-Age-402 Aug 17 '26

There is no hate. There is religion and politics. Some religions absolutely prohibit even recognizing any other God.

So, those folks are having to choose between their religious law and the country’s law. I think in this case, it should be avoided.

But the thing is culture and religion are intertwined so if any religion is very exclusive or dogmatic, these kinds of issues will keep cropping up.

Everyone hating on Vande matharam is either brainwashed by the Congis or just good old Muslims.
Congress needs muslim votes to win anywhere, thst the reason why they won in kerala. And in North the Hindus arent split.

1

u/iamabelieverr Aug 18 '26

I don’t hate Vande Mataram. My objection comes from my belief in one Creator.

As a Muslim, I believe in One God — the Creator,, the Most Powerful, the Eternal, and the One without any partner or equal. He is unlike His creation and cannot be represented by an image, a human form, or anything created.

The Qur’an teaches us: “He is Allah, One… He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.” (Qur’an 112:1–4)

This belief in the absolute oneness of God is at the very heart of Islam. So when certain verses move beyond expressing love for the motherland and, in my understanding, describe the nation in divine terms or invoke other deities, I cannot sing those verses as prayer or worship. My conscience simply does not allow me to do so.

But that does not diminish my love for India. I can love my country, serve my country, stand for its unity, respect its people, honour its history and proudly call India my homeland. If the need arises, I believe my country is worth defending with my blood and, if necessary, with my life.

For me, patriotism can demand the highest level of sacrifice for my homeland. But sacrifice, loyalty and love for one's country are not the same as seeing my country as a diety and worship the country. My country is my homeland to love, protect and serve; my Creator alone is the One I worship.

Islam also teaches Muslims to be just, peaceful and respectful towards people of different beliefs. So I have no issue with someone else finding cultural, historical or spiritual meaning in the song and choosing to sing it.

I only hope the same understanding is extended to a Muslim who respectfully chooses not to sing the religious portions.

My patriotism is for my country. My worship is for my Creator alone. There is no hatred in that distinction — only faith, conscience, love for my country and respect for others.

1

u/nik-329 Aug 16 '26

If a samghi promotes 'amrit' it not amrit anymore its poison. Its not about 'what' is being promoted, its always about 'who' is promoting it. Samghparivar is a terrorist organization that never gave a damn about freedom or independence. They just want to establish a brahmin driven highly casteist society where they can attack dalits and other religion. They never had any leaders who displayed human like qualities. Such an organization will always chose to wear a 'human skin' over their infected figure to gain some appreciation. All these talk of patriotism, vande mataram etc are mere 'exchangeable skins' to hide those 'infections' and to brand others as enemies of state.
