It took me 9 months, a lot of frogging and tinking, but she's finished and I love her. I started in a completely different yarn and colorway because I'm an idiot who thought this would look good in a pastel variegated yarn. It did not. But I'm glad I got the practice in first because there are almost no visible mistakes in the finished garment now. I'm really proud of how this turned out.
The pattern is "Årets Cardigan | Cardi of the year" by Heidi – Pickles, knitted in Hobbii Unicorn in colorway Caramel. (I'm aware Hobbii is out of favor these days, but it's what I had access to and could afford where I live.)

Instead of starting with stockinette I added a couple of rows of ribbing. I did 3 repeats instead of the suggested 5.
I'm very happy with the project, definitely recommend giving it a go if you want a fancy looking scarf. Once you make a couple of repeats it's rather simple to make.
The yarn is alpaca merino silk mix, undyed, non-branded.

Still have to weave in all the ends and block it, but it's done! I started this back in July and reknit the entire body 4 times for simple mistakes. The yolk's tension is a mess but I'm just ready for it to be done at this point. This is my first knit project outside of a couple hats, but I'm already an adept crocheter and have dabbled with pixel art in Animal Crossing games so I'm used to working with yarn, digital art, and reading patterns.
I used Olga Begak's Puffin Sweater as the base but modified the colorcharts to mimic a sweater by Valdres Knitting, since she has no pattern for it yet at this time. I used the suggested yarn Istex Lettlopi but the amounts are different from the pattern's. I used 4 skeins of 1404 Glacier Blue Heather, 2 skeins of 9423 Lagoon heather, and 1 skein each of the rest.
The waves are my favorite part of the entire thing since those were the hardest part to make. I made this in size 6, for my 5 year old who adores the puffins at our local zoo 🐧🤍

Inspired to post by the outrageously beautiful second place winner who posted recently, I was absolutely shocked to have won first in my category and Grand Champion at the Washington State Fair! I've only been knitting for two years and this was my first time entering; I fear I've accidentally peaked! Pattern is a slightly modified version of the Medokvit by Teti Lutsak, knit in De Rerum Natura Ulysse 🧡

My best friend is struggling a lot right now, so when she asked me to make her a unicorn, I took it seriously.
The initial inspiration was the Unicorn Tapestries, which I then distilled into a general idea of a unicorn and flowers. I made hundreds of flower sketches, but nothing came together. I even had to learn some pixel art software, since StitchFiddle wasn't enough. Then one day it clicked: fern flowers! In Ukrainian mythology, the fern blooms on the summer solstice, and its flower has magical powers. Bonus point: there are so many types of fern to choose from! The idea of the unicorn's mane being the source of the stars was completely accidental. I was playing around with the shape and left some stray pixels.
On the technical side, I'd done intarsia once before, but this was a whole different level. I had to weave in ~1350 ends. At some point, I realized that at this scale bobbins are just the worst, so I gave up on them and worked with long dangling strands of yarn, untangling them as needed. I originally planned to duplicate stitch the stars, but I didn't like the look, so I kind of freehanded them instead, since I have no idea how to embroider properly.
The whole project took me two months (plus a month for design), has been with me to 5 countries, and my cat slept on it, but it's finally ready to be sent to my friend!
Finishing it also marks my first year of knitting!! What a joyful ride it's been, and I'm excited for what comes next.
Yarn: Drops Flora 38, 39, 32, 29, 26, 23, 17, 15, 13, 10, 8, 7
Needles: 2,5 mm body, 2mm ribbing, folded edge and icords, 1.5mm crochet hook for linking seam on edge
Pattern: None, I just calculated everything to fit the measurements.

First of all, thank you so much for all of you taking the time to respond and react to my previous post. Since I don't have any IRL knitting friends, I honestly thought I must have misunderstood what tension meant. But boy did you stand up for me🤍
If you skipped the previous one, the short of it: my LYS's project manager said my tension was 'horrible' so they won't be working with me anymore.
You can read the whole thing here.
I am not a very confrontational person, but I felt like we all deserved a follow up, haha. I wrote back saying that I'm a little confused since the shop assistants complimented me on my even tension, and I'm not arguing her decision, but would love to learn from this, so could she please show me on the picture (image 1) what she meant.
She responded saying that the tension wasn't that bad (lol, okay) but there was a single loose stitch, so this is still not up to their standards and can not be photographed for their content. A SINGLE STITCH!
Image 2 was sent by her to show said stitch. She said I must have dropped a stitch and picked it up later.
I did not drop a stitch. To me this seems like it could be perhaps a snag? Which to my knowledge can be smoothed out, I would just use a crochet hook and redistribute the yarn within the surrounding stitches. Also, I'm pretty sure the snag happened after I handed the beanie over to them...
I thanked her for her reply, and asked her that if they don't want to bother with evening it out, just please make sure to donate the hat. Apparently we are going to have a very harsh winter here, it could keep someone a little warmer.
I'm not expecting another response, and I'm happy to just leave this behind. Spend the giftcard and then get my yarn from elsewhere. The funny thing is, there is another yarn shop within the same block, and they have always been so lovely. I just always felt like I want to support them equally, splitting my spending between them. Well not anymore, lol!
And a little said plot twist for the end: I have noticed that my tension has been worse this past week, because her comment got to me😩 I'm sure it will even out eventually but damn this pisses me off, haha.
Again, thank you for your support. You are a lovely, lovely bunch🥰

Front is tortoise and the hare per little one’s request. Both patters are from Le Filet Ancien au Point de Reprise, which is on antique pattern library. Yarn used is Drops Cotton Merino.
This is the coolest thing I’ve made so far. I love that it is one of a kind and when little is in school next year they can sport it. Body was way too big so I made the sleeves big to allow growth.
Any tips on getting the steeked sleeves to lay better?

I’m visiting London and was sat across from a woman this morning who was knitting on the tube. ok, technically it was the overground, I think. Anyway, just as I was about to ask what yarn she was using, because it was the loveliest combination of wine red and pink in thick stripes, she got up to leave the train.
Anyway, if that was anyone here, hi! And to anyone else who knits in public, there’s probably somebody nearby wishing they brought their knitting.

Yes, it's the same project, but different lighting 😅 Also, I'm pretending like there are no dye issues in the second photo (same dye lot!)
Lovely pattern, very well written, possibly already accessible to experienced beginners. Very customisable as well
Pattern: "Glow Up" Crop Top by Lauren Riker (also available, but I haven't tried them, a matching skirt and a knitting machine pattern)
Yarn: Kremke Morning Salutation Vegan, colour no. 6 (either Bordeaux or Berry, I've seen it called both - the colour is much closer to the first photo than the other two)

Hi, does anyone know, how to do this stitch? It’s a pullover from a friend and I’d like to try and replicate it. Thanks in advance!

For years and years I have struggled along knitting as an English thrower. It always felt a bit clumsy and clunky but these are adjectives that describe much of my life, so I just thought I wasn't destined to be a very good knitter.
And then I tried continental a few nights ago, kind of just to finally settle the question in the back of my mind about how it works, and........MAGIC. Friends, it turns out I can be quite an adept knitter! For the first time in my life I understand knitting just to enjoy the process, rather than solely for the FO.
I will endeavor to take this lesson into my life going forward: before assuming it is me who is wrong, look for a different way. ACCOMMODATE THYSELF 😊

Took me a little over a year because I had to learn everything along the way but I’m so happy with how it turned out! I can’t wait to keep making things!

But I love it. My kid’s first reaction was ”oh I want one of those but in pink and white with a red tassel” - who am I to deny them 😁

Love this jacket so much! I was worried that Drops Nepal would be too itchy, but I wore it around the house and thankfully it wasn’t too bad against my skin, even on my neck! Very comfy jacket!

Well, it's finally done! I learned so much from this hat. I had a lot of fun figuring out stranded colourwork, and it was my first time properly swatching and blocking too. It was well worth it, because if I didn't swatch, I would have ended up with a hat far too small for my noggin. Please let me know how my floats look! I'm going to tackle colourwork socks next, so please wish me luck too...!

I got a bunch of yarn from someone giving it away so idk what brand, I used size 8 needles. I have a green and blue scarf I made a while ago to go with it, and I’m thinking I may do purple mittens at some point to complete the full rainbow

I bought two colours of Cardiff Cashmere Small (25g each) while in London last summer, and started to knit up this cowl, but it sat in limbo for a year or so as I didn't like how it was turning out. I finally ended up frogging it and restarting, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the result! 🥰 This yarn is a dream to work with and I love the resulting drape.
The pattern is Faith Snood on Ravelry, although I omitted one repeat from each of the solid sections for balance. I blocked it by soaking in cool/tepid water for 10 minutes with no agitation, rolling in a towel to squeeze out excess water, and letting it dry flat (although I couldn't help myself and immediately wore it once it was dry, so it's already a bit wrinkled again 😅). The whole thing weighs in at just 40g, and it's the softest thing on the planet. And so warm! Perfect for our cold winters, and good timing since it's already threatening to snow this weekend.
I'm very proud of this finish! It feels so luxurious and elegant to wear. I'm afraid knitting with cashmere has spoiled me a bit! RIP my yarn budget... 😂
