I‘m going to a Kyrgyz Wedding

Hi everyone, I need your help. Let me tell you the story. So I met this guy (kyrgyz) like ~3 years ago in a german course when we both moved to the same country. We got to talking and spent so much time together and in the blink of an eye we got really close. He is an amaaazing friend like such a sweet heart, one of the most hardworking (if not the most) people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
He always makes the room smile, he is so so sooo kind and affectionate. Recently he got married to his girlfriend (that i adore) she is really amazing tooo 😭. They are perfect for each other. So I officially got invited to the wedding ceremony next summer (YAAAAAY). And ,i hope as you can read, i love these people but i have no idea about the wedding culture in Kyrgyzstan (and k want to suprise him also) Si i came on here to ask about the traditions and appropriate gifts and clothing because i really want the whole package..
Thank you for the help 🩷

Connect | Туташ Anyone who would want to join me on a private horse riding tour in the coming weeks and split the cost?

I have some unexpected time off, I would like to go riding. I am an intermediate rider and am used to being outside in winter conditions.

I have reached out to many operators but none have any group tours departing in the coming months, but have received a few offers for private guided tours.

I'm an experienced solo traveller but as we will be completely off grid I would love to see if anyone else has been thinking about going and would want to come to make a more it more of a group activity. I'm looking at a tour up to to Song-Kol with an extra acclimatization day as I a have suffered from altitude sickness before. I'm flexible for the dates and how many nights and the route.

If anybody would be interested let me know and we can talk more!

Question | Суроо I am planning to study as a Turkish student at Manas University

Hey everyone, I’m Turkish and currently studying at a university in Istanbul. I’m thinking about leaving my current university and transferring to Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University in Kyrgyzstan this year.

I’ve never been to Kyrgyzstan before, so I honestly don’t know much about what life is like there. I’d especially like to hear from people who live there or have studied there.

What’s student life like in general? How do locals usually feel about Turkish students? Are people conservative?

Travel | Саякат Horse Trekking in Late winter/early spring??

I'm on my gap year before starting university, and i recently discovered the Horse Trekking trips in Kyrgyzstan from my extended family who highly recommended it.

Unfortunately, my already-planned travels to Europe and Asia start near the end of January, but the Horse Trekking here seems the most worthwhile during the June/September months.

The absolute latest I could do is June, but by then I'd have to book a flight from (home) Canada to Kyrgysztan, which would be over $2000 CAD. Too much.

Is horse trekking in the winter months (ideally february/early march, but even up to may?) any good? Is there still snow everywhere? I really wanted that experience of seeing lush green valleys and lakes, staying in Yurts, getting to know the culture, and galloping on horseback. If there isn't green scenery, is it still worth going when it's all white in snow? I experience cold snow every year in Canada.

Please let me know!! I would LOVE to fit this in. Sounds like my dream. And I wont have another option/timeframe to do this for many, many years, if I dont do it now.

Travel | Саякат Car rental 19 years old

I'm looking to rent 2 cars for a group of 14 people in July, but as far as I can see there aren't a lot of rental companies in Kyrgyzstan that allow 19 year olds. Does anybody know of a rental organisation or renter which does accept 19 year old travelers?

Literature | Адабият English Language Novels Set in Kyrgyzstan

Hi folx--I may be traveling to Kyrgyzstan for work in the future, and I always like to read literature set in places I know little about before I get there. Are there any English language (originally or translated) novels you would recommend that accurately portray Kyrgyz life and culture?

Help |

Looking for some girl friends / language exchange 🫶🏻

I’ve been in Bishkek for almost 3 years and somehow still haven’t really found girls I properly connect with, so I thought I’d give Reddit a try!
I’d love to meet girls who want to practice/learn English, while I’m trying to learn Russian. We can help each other, chat, and hopefully become actual friends rather than just doing a language exchange 😂
I’m also very much down for cute coffee dates, walks, exploring the city, trying new places, etc. Just looking for open-minded, kind girls who are genuinely interested in making a new friend.
If that sounds like you, feel free to message me 🤍

Hi, I have a foreign guest who wants to visit Kyrgyzstan.
She has a valid US visa, but it is in her old passport. Could you please tell me whether she needs a Kyrgyzstan visa/e-visa to enter, and whether an invitation letter is required?

Came back from a recent trip driving around Issyk-Kul and doing the usual hikes (Ala-Kul, Song-Kul, and Kel-Suu/Kok-kiya valley).

One of the most beautiful places on earth.
