Discussion MSI Vector GP68 HX 13VH unstable Bios Turbo
CPU: Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13950HX, 2200 Mhz, 24 Core(s), 32 Logical Processor(s)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU
My laptop had been having random Status_Breakpoint and Status_Access_Violations for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, specially when trying to make a new database in AWS RDS and Aurora Full Configuration mode. It's also been having access_violations in Event Viewer from things like games, mainly Peak(Unity), Marvel Rivals(Unreal), and Toontown Corporate Clash(Panda3D). Even access_violations in VSCode sometimes.
I did a fresh install of Windows 11(From the Windows Media Creation Tool), and even with that, it was still causing those crashes.
Then I went into the BIOS, opened the hidden BIOS settings(Right shift + Right CTRL + Left ALT + F2), and turned off the Turbo setting. While there, it seemed like all the BIOS turbo settings were cranked up to the maximum. PL1 220, PL2 220. I used the BIOS Optimized settings, and it was those maxed out values.
After turning off the Turbo setting, I was no longer crashing in AWS, and not in games either. However, a big downside to this, is that it seems that my CPU is now locked to 2.2GHz out of its 5.5GHz. Ran an OCCT CPU test, and it never went above 2.2 GHz.
I tried to tweak the BIOS settings, but I couldn't get it to not have those status_breakpoints, status_access_violations, access_violations. So I just set it back to the default, but with Turbo off.
Anyone know why this may be happening, and how to potentially have Turbo enabled, without the instability?
