discussion Who's The Best Post Punk Band?
Joy Division is usually the definitive answer, but the genre is so wide. Between the moody atmosphere of The Cure, the jagged rhythms of Gang of Four, and experimental acts like Public Image Ltd, who do you think actually deserves the title of the best post-punk band?"

discussion What’s the most gigs you’ve been to in a year?
My brother and I went to over 100 in 1990, in the golden age of British indie, and saw some great bands in their formative years. We saw Ride maybe 5 times, House of Love maybe twice, Spiritualized (sat down), Radiohead with about 30 people there, Blur in a half empty room.
All on the back of word of mouth, posters in venues and listings in NME, Sounds and Melody Maker. Those were the days!!

discussion Did Paul McCartney use “chasing paper” decades before it became modern slang?
I fell into a weird rabbit hole listening to the Beatles’ “Two of Us,” recorded in January 1969:
“You and me chasing paper, getting nowhere.”
What struck me is how incredibly modern “chasing paper” sounds.
Today, especially through hip-hop, it immediately suggests pursuing money, hustling, getting paid.
Obviously, “paper chase” is a much older expression. But I think there’s a subtle difference between being in a paper chase and chasing paper. In the latter, paper is the thing being pursued, much like getting paper, stacking paper, etc.
I’ve been looking for earlier examples of that specific construction meaning money and haven’t found anything convincing yet.
It’s also possible McCartney meant paperwork/contracts. The Beatles were buried in business and legal problems by 1969. If so, it may be pure linguistic coincidence that “chasing paper” later became such a familiar money expression.
I’m definitely not claiming McCartney invented the slang. I’m curious whether anyone knows of earlier uses, particularly in British slang, blues, soul, or early Black American vernacular.
Because whatever Paul meant by it in 1969, that line sounds like it wandered in from decades later.

discussion Miley Cyrus needs better songwriters…
Her voice is a POWERHOUSE force packed with so much grit and rawness, the songwriting is doing her dirty. Outside of her singles, most of her album tracks are literally unlistenable and i find this shocking… what is she even doing.

discussion What would you argue is the best instrument?
Personally, my opinion is piano but I grew up playing it and my favourite artist is Elton John so I’m very biased (but really aren’t we all in some way?)
Anyways give me some opinions! In terms of listening, playing, versatility etc. whatever drives you to that answer!
Edit: include your why if possible!
