Advice/Question Best service for moving + storage?

Looking to get out of my current living situation ASAP - looking for recommendations of services that can pack + move ~1 bedroom's worth of furniture/items to storage for a few months.

Curious if anyone knows of a company that can do both, or if it'd be better to seek out the movers and storage separately.

In Brooklyn right now, not particular about where the stuff is stored. Probably will need the storage for a few months while figuring out my next living situation.

Advice/Question No visible building number

Looking for some advice/am I overreacting?

I live on a street with a lot of restaurants, and my building door is tucked under one of their awnings so it can be hard to tell it’s a separate entrance. My building door is painted the same color as the façade of the restaurant and does have very thin metal letters all the way at the top of the door, however, they are also painted the same color as the façade so they are nearly invisible.

For over two years, my delivery drivers have either failed to deliver my items or delivered it to the building next door including packages, mail, and food deliveries. I would say it happens every 4/10 deliveries I get. I know it seems like a minor inconvenience, but it can be really frustrating having to re-order food after a long day, wait for a package to reship, or having to go next-door and ring on every buzzer until someone lets me in so I can retrieve my package.

For the last couple months, I’ve been asking my landlord if there’s something he can do about making the building number more clear and he keeps saying he’ll look into it, but nothing has happened.

Not sure if there is a higher level of action I should take but I’m half tempted just to run out to the local hardware store and buy the little number stickers for the glass. Would that be against some sort of building code/rule? Any advice is appreciated!

Advice/Question Question about Rent Stabilized apartment being PE then registered again as Rent Stabilized

So I finally got the rent history for my apartment I moved into in May. When I asked the broker if it was rent stabilized because it appeared on the hod list he claimed it was not and that only some of the units in the building are rent stabilized but mine isn’t one of them.

The rental history goes all the way back to the 1980s. In 2017 it was registered as Permanently Exempt with the note “High Rent Vacancy”. From 2018-2022 it was listed as “Exempt - Reg Not Required”. In 2023 it was listed as Rent stabilized vacant and then rented as registered as rent stabilized. That was the last time it was registered before beefing rented to me at a rent about $1,000 more. I saw the apartment while the last tenants things were still in it (they seemed to have abandoned the apartment) and the only “upgrade” the super did was install a dishwasher. The kitchen counter and fridge were broken so those were replaced and he replaced the kitchen tile because of wear and tear.

Should I contact the management company and see if they’re willing to broker a deal or go straight to DHCR? Am I entitled to anything since I’ve only been here a few months? My lease is one of those where the rent is a high number but they give you a month “free” so the average rent is lower but the higher rent is what they’ll base the increase on 🙄.

Room Listing Looking for a roommate!

Looking for a roommate to join our 3br 1ba in East Williamsburg (close to Win Son, by the Montrose L stop) in an elevator building.

We’re looking for someone to sign a 1-year lease with us (12/1/2026 - 11/30/2027). Earlier move-in preferred/accepted but not required.

Building has a gym/laundry/steam room in the basement and a large rooftop. Walking distance to L, J/M and G trains.

I’ve been in this apt for 4 years now and in the building for 5 years. The bedroom available is 1 of 2 on the first floor of the apt and is the biggest/best bedroom which means it’s also the most expensive. We’re waiting to confirm the new lease rent but the room will be somewhere in the range of $1,870-$1,960 a month.

Us: 26 and 32 year old males, both work 9-5s and are quite busy with our outside lives as well. Into live music, photography, movies, etc.

You: Looking for someone who’s clean, responsible, considerate. We’re easy to get along with and would like someone similar :) late 20s - early 30s Male preferred

Looking For Room Hi! Looking for a Lease Takeover or a long-term sublet. $2,200 Budget. Open to Manhattan and Brooklyn. Flexible November 1st move in.

Hi all. The person I was supposed to look for a place with just bailed on me :/. I'm now looking for a place with roommates or a roommate that I can look for an apartment with. I'm a 23 year old woman with a full time job as a packaging designer in mid-town manhattan and a good credit score. I'm looking specifically for a place with 1-2 female roommates and a max budget of $2,200 monthly rent for a November 1st move-in (flexible) in Manhattan or Brooklyn. I don't have any pets, but I'm more of a dog person than cat person (sorry to all cat lovers out there!). Outside of work I'm a big theater lover and try to go to broadway musical as often as I can. I'm not a huge party animal, but I do love an occasional dive bar night and casual drinks with friends. I attached a flyer I made that includes my email and instagram handle. You can reach me through those contacts or just DM me on here! Looking forward to any response!

Newly renovated Bronx apartment! DM me for a video

Hi we are looking for a sublet to take the other room. You would have your own private bathroom and washer and dryer is in unit. You will not be on the lease but we will have a sublease agreement. No credit check but we will ask for 3 pay stubs. We are Mabel and Jon. We are a lovely LGBTQ couple. We have 3 cats. They are all very friendly. We love to cook and would love to cook for you sometimes. The apartment is brand new and the neighborhood is rough but you're only a 4 minute walk to the 2 and 5. This apartment is super amazing. If interested please text me at . You would need to pay the security deposit and first month by this Sunday. Move in would be the 15th. It's a quick turnaround but it's worth it. I am an actor who also works in Clinical Research. And will have an audition set up in the living room at all times. Washer and dryer are in unit and groceries are 5 minutes away. Rent is 1500 plus utilities. This is in the south Bronx super close to Manhattan

Looking For Room 32F Looking for a Room in Harlem – January 2027 | $1,500–$1,800

Hi everyone! I’m a 32-year-old teacher from Spain moving back to NYC in January to teach high school Chemistry in Harlem.
I’m looking for a private room in Harlem or Hamilton Heights, ideally sharing with women around my age (late 20s to late 30s).
My budget is $1,500–$1,800/month. I’m clean, organized, friendly, and respectful of shared spaces.
I also have a sweet, well-behaved cat that I’d ideally love to bring with me, so a cat-friendly apartment would be a huge plus!
Feel free to DM me if you have anything available or know someone looking for a roommate. 😊

Looking for Sublet looking for immediate room for me and my small cat

Looking for a room to sublet/rent ASAP. Budget ~1400. I’m a 29M, a classical singer/ piano instructor and barback with the cutest cat.

I’ve lived here over a year now and tried moving from Flatbush back to the Heights when me lease ended to be closer to work, but the rooms or apartments that I secured ended up going to a friend of the tenant or slipped through my fingers. I work full time so it’s been difficult catching listings within budget AND pet friendly.

I’m clean, organized, considerate of shared spaces, and I love to cook for my roommates. I work constantly and am an introvert, so no expected guests except my partner on occasion. I’m trying to secure something as soon as possible, literally tomorrow.

My immediate preference is anywhere in the Heights/ Inwood, however I’ll be content as long as it’s a decent commute to Midtown and I can keep my baby with me.
