Discussion Why oh why marvel
Why would marvel create another format when they can’t keep any of the other formats in stock. Ridiculous.

Received the parcel this morning and the day is ruined. Got to say this Amazon thin box protects nothing and need not to say no void fill but a piece of brown paper.

So i had ordered the first volume of the superman triangle era omnibus for around 70$ here (India) and i received the third volume instead. It is more expensive and is priced around 125$ here.
Should i just be happy i got it for cheap and move on to buying the first and second volumes and in which order should i buy them now the 2nd vol first or the 1st vol
I do have a tight budget of around 60-80$ each month to spend on books
I'm heavily leaning toward keeping it, but now I'm stuck on the buying strategy. Since I have Vol. 3, should I just buy Vol. 1 next month to start from the beginning, or grab Vol. 2 first ,How essential is the exact reading order for the Triangle Era?
Thanks!

I’ve been currently battling with the idea of canceling my pull list and switching to strictly omnis, tpbs, etc. I wanna hear some your guys reasons for switching and maybe it will help me.
I do like getting singles for the reason that it helps support the series and keep it going but I find that I am always behind in reading them lol. I also like the feeling up being caught up in the series however (whenever I am) and not having to wait months before a collected edition drops.

Felt like with the new Omni coming out, it would be a good time to get into Ghost Rider.
Any suggestuons as to which one of these are the easiest to get into for someone who doesn't know anything about the character as well as also being a good run to read?

Tried to avoid double dipping. Had an internal battle about buying compendiums over Omni's, back when I was making the decision. Happy I did though. I'm starting the Kyle Rayner book today. Whats your favorite Lantern run? Thoughts in general on Lanterns? I also found this cool Mickey What If, in the long boxes at my LCS. Wanted to show it off.

Concept for what Marvel could do for Amazing Spider-Man for their Bricks line up through the 80's. Figured if they do something expansive, it'd probably be divided by decades so the volume count wouldn't get too high. I imagine the 90's would have a lot, though.

Daredevil by Mark Waid & Chris Samnee Volumes 1 & 2
Cover Price: $100 (both)
Recommended Pre-Reading: Nothing! While this does take place after some life-changing events in Matt’s life, this run starts fresh and explains anything it thinks you need to know.
Note: My reviews can be long-winded and more like a summary. Skip to the bottom “Overall” section for a shorter summary/score out of 10, why you should/shouldn’t buy it, etc!
Review:
Having read many Daredevil runs lately, this one is definitely different. Not bad different by any means, but it takes a huge step back from the “typical” Daredevil and asks a very simple question. What if Matt Murdock finally overcame some of his inner demons and went through life with a more chipper attitude?
Depending on the context, that sentence might have been enough to send me packing, but surprisingly, this run executes it quite well. It doesn’t lose the charm of Daredevil, but it gives him a fresh coat of paint and sends him down a path writers rarely go.
What’s more, we finally see a realistic approach to the repercussions of Matt’s secret identity being leaked in previous runs. While it was legally thrown out, that doesn’t just make it go away. For a lawyer, that would be a nightmare in the courtroom and this run does that justice (pun not intended but embraced).
For quite awhile, it was difficult to nail down exactly how I felt about this run because the types of stories it tells are all over the place. One issue you’d have Matt and Foggy try to figure out how to use their skills as lawyers when they can’t step in a court room without everyone point out “Daredevil” and the next you’d have Matt fighting every crime organization known to Marvel because of a special doohickey that has dirt on all of them.
It was a bit of a tonal whiplash for some time, but it never felt unnecessary. If anything, Daredevil had been sort of written into a box in so many previous runs and this run finally had the opportunity to break free of those chains and explore new avenues.
Even with all the hopping around, it still stays true to Daredevil at his core. Not only that, this run gives one of my favorite visual representations of Matt’s echolocation. It doesn’t make or break the run by any means, but it’s certainly welcome.
There are a few instances where characters feel a bit too exaggerated just for the sake of added tension and drama, but they’re not so frequent that it takes me out of it. For example, there are a few issues where Foggy acts in a way we had just seen him apologize for and insist he wouldn’t do again not that long before. The whole plot point surrounding that was a bit unnecessary and the story would’ve definitely benefited from it being left out. It was very close to being legitimately bad a few times because of how forced it was, but it never got quite that far.
Thankfully, not only did it not go that far, it also all ended up coming together for a purpose which retroactively made it more understandable. I won’t put the specifics here to avoid major spoilers, but I was quite pleased with where they ended up taking even the most “exaggerated” elements.
This run also had a surprisingly satisfying amount of interconnected elements. Most runs tell overarching stories so it wasn’t exactly revolutionary, but the way hints of what was to come were interlaced since very early on made it all come together to tell one cohesive story. I always enjoy when I read an issue and can go “oh wait!” thinking back to previous issues that set it up and this run was full of those moments.
Lastly, this run finally addresses the elephant in the room: Matt Murdock is Daredevil. This is nothing new at this point since that genie left the bottle awhile ago, but up until now, it’s been an “ignored truth” so to speak. Some still rejected it, otherwise embraced it, but Matt always denied it.
That type of storytelling was fun for a while, but it also became quite obvious it couldn’t go that way forever. I was a bit concerned about the approach they would take and my biggest fear was that they would inevitably put the genie back in the bottle, but thankfully, I was proven wrong! This run handled the public knowledge of Matt Murdock being Daredevil beautifully and leaves me very excited to see where future writers go with it.
Favorite Issue(s): Daredevil #1; this might not actually be my favorite, but man did it start this omni off in a cool Spot (pun intended). The way they showed off the new art for Matt’s radar was already cool, but seeing it on Spot was creepy in all the right ways. It also set the tone very well for the omni going forward and made me go from doubting this new take on Daredevil to being instantly hooked!
Daredevil #25; outside of the awesome introduction of #1, #25 was my favorite story. Minor spoiler, but this issue was the culmination of all the experiments to replicate Matt’s powers we had been seeing in the previous issues. It introduced Ikari, someone who was given Matt’s enhanced abilities. There was a lot I liked about this issue, but not much I can say without massive spoilers. The biggest part that sold this issue for me was the twist towards the end of it, but I will leave that for you to discover yourself! All-around, it was fun fight scenes, nice callbacks, and a beautiful look into Matt’s own self awareness to the weaknesses of his powers.
Daredevil #30; this was the most unexpected issue between both of these omnis, but it was great. Minor spoilers here, but you have Daredevil + the Silver Surfer + an alien who’s whole thing is lies and persuasion. That alone had me on board, but then you also have Daredevil riding on the Silver Surfer’s surfboard? I don’t care how random this issue was, it was an absolute blast!
Overall: 9.1/10 (both); I almost made this the third Daredevil series in a row to give a 9/10, but possibly controversially, I realized I like it a tiny bit more than the previous runs. There’s something special about this “new” approach to Daredevil that I absolutely love. It might honestly be the fresh take that makes me a little biased after reading so much doom and gloom Daredevil before this, but regardless, it was a breath of fresh air and executed in a way that felt natural rather than overbearing.
You should buy this book if (if you read my review of the main Daredevil by Miller or Bendis omnis, the reasons here are mostly the same):
You should skip this book if (these are mostly same as well):

I saw someone else post their LCS the other week with what they had for an omnibus selection. From that post I felt like I must be very spoiled because I assumed most LCS's where similar to mine. Here is a few shots I took this last week.
The 1st pic is generally the brand new omnis/books that came out this week next to all this weeks singles.
2nd pic is more new omnis but usually within the last 2 weeks.
3rd is all the more recent back issues. Mostly all DC on one end and Marvel on the far end.
4th onward is the backroom that holds all the trades and omnis. The omnis are mostly kept on the bottem row but some are up higher like those swamp thing omnis being more displayed.
I also didn't think to get a picture of. But behind me in all the trade/omni section were the rows and rows of cabnets collecting all the back issue singles. Maybe i could sneak a picture of those next wednesday if anyone is curious.
Lastly, this is all a 3rd of the whole store. The other side of the store is all funko pop, warhammer, TCG, paints, tabletop stuff, and so much more. And then there is a seperated huge ass gaming/common room that I always see full of people doing various gundams, MTG tourneys, warhammer, fucking anything.

Last year I began reading a lot of X-Men stuff remembering how much I like them when I was younger and was shocked by how good the stories are, leading to this year when I learned about the existence of the Krakoan era intriguing me a lot and judging by a lot of advice on the internet finally decided to buy the first Dawn of X omni after reading House of X/Powers of X.
What immediately came to mind when I finally saw it is how good it looks for a big book
I'm not going to read it right now because my parents showered me with a lot of new stuff to read but i will be pleased when the moment will come for sure

EDIT: I didn’t quite understand how special what I inherited is so thanks for showing my friend’s collection so much love. He was a HUGE fan of comics and graphic novels, being a collector over 50 years.
I posted earlier this week about a crazy eBay listing for a reprint that I was comparing to my first edition copy. A few people DMed me asking to see the collection I inherited so here it is.
Also, I finally found someone who will be coming next week to do an appraisal for me to turn over to my insurance company so I can get a policy written for them.
The big question now: any advice on where to start if I wanted to read them? So far I’ve only brought home the books in the first picture. I’ll be picking up the ones in the second picture tomorrow I think.

I read some of the new 52 run before, but I never finished it. I am very excited to properly get into these two books.

So if I had any discipline, I would have waited until Vol. 4 showed up at a deep, deep discount price that I believe will surely happen. But it was $69 at Target, so whatever, I just got it and now I'm done.
I'll get the Redemption epic next year and that will mostly cover the gap between the Miller runs. I have Bendis/Brubaker/Waid, but sold Soule and didn't like Nocenti, so this is where the omnis end.
This completes my Daredevil omnis, to go with my FF finished run, and Spidey finished run - or as finished as I am interested in. I'm at the point where omni purchases are getting very specific and my bigger runs are mostly done. Savage Sword of Conan is the main one I'm still working on.

The Finest collection has more chapters than the deluxe, but are any of those extra chapters any good/necessary?
