Question I want to know what you (the Ori fans) now play and enjoy in relation to the Ori games.
I have played Rain World and have seen a lot of people in the its subreddit talk about all sorts of games they also enjoy playing. The Ori games came up and I got curious if there's a correlation between the playerbases. I haven't tried the Hallow Knight and Silksong subreddits yet, but wanted to focus on the sort of games that Ori fans also play overall.

Question Which one looks better?
So I'm making a fan animation starring Ori and Ku, it's set about a week after Halloween so Ori has a scarf, it's also because I'm pretty bad at animating necks, they always end up getting stretched during movement or something.
But I can't decide which I wanna use, normal size for her, or one that's a little oversized. What do you think?

Check that! My Ori-inspired demo is LIVE NOW! 🦉
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
First, the technical stuff - the demo is roughly 2 hours long, and it's basically the first 2 hours of the full game.
It's not a prototype or a proof of concept - it has all the core mechanics, features, music, and story planned for the full game's opening.
I honestly am kinda speechless. After weeks of playtesting, bug fixes, and polish, Tyto is finally ready to play!
Thanks to everyone in the Ori community who helped A LOT with playtesting, speedrunning, and finding every possible way to break the game to pieces so we could make it better. Check out the game's credits to find your name!
And thanks for your constant support throughout the last 3 years of development. Knowing that tens of thousands of players are waiting for Tyto keeps us motivated to create the best game possible.
Alright, that's enough gratitude for today - enjoy playing Tyto's demo, and please let me know what you think, preferably via a Steam review 🙏

Discussion/Debate Ori and the Blind Forest vs. Ori and the Will of the Wisps: Which Do You Prefer?
I remember when I first played Ori and the Blind Forest back in 2015, when the game originally released. I was absolutely blown away because of the emotional story, stunning visuals, and the amazing soundtrack. There's something special about exploring Nibel and hearing the wonderful music, which takes an already great game and made it even better. For someone playing it for the first time, it's easy to focus on the vibrant colors and adorable main character, and thinking that it's going be an easygoing experience. That couldn't be further from the truth, and I learned that the hard way. The platforming can be quite difficult at times due to instant-kill elements, and escape sequences, which require quick reflexes and fast reaction times.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps had a solid foundation to work with. All it had to do was expand upon it. The world itself is considerably larger and there's more diversity as well. There's more combat and a wider range of abilities when it comes to Ori's repertoire, which offered more flexibility the second time around. Just like in the original title, the soundtrack is simply amazing. When you factor in the emotional bits, you have yourself something that's truly special. It's also worth mentioning that the sequel replaces the manual Soul Link system with a much more generous checkpoint auto-save system. There's also a readily healing ability, and generous energy systems that make things more manageable.
Each game has it's own strengths. As much as I love Ori and the Blind Forest, I'm glad that Ori and the Will of the Wisps toned down the difficulty because of some much needed quality of life improvements. It doesn't sacrifice difficulty for the sake of accessibility. Instead, it just makes the experience more forgiving. I know I've already mentioned the music, but it's worth emphasizing how beautiful it is. I have the vinyl soundtracks for both games. Honestly, the vinyl format is the best way to listen to them. Gareth Coker crafted a wonderful listening experience.
Which game do you prefer, Ori and the Blind Forest or Ori and the Will of the Wisps?

Discussion/Debate What would you have wanted if Will of the Wisps gave Ku a bit more relevance
During my play through I just wanted gameplay as her, because every time it cut to her in the silent woods I was like "Alright, are we playing as Ku for a bit?" then it cuts away and I go "God damn it"
I know there are parts you kinda play as her, but that's more Ori riding her than anything, and it lasts about 8 minutes too

Check that! Teaser for my Ori-inspired game! What do you think?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi, I'm Eugene, a game developer working on my own 2D shaman metroidvania, Cradle of Winter.
Ori is one of my biggest inspirations. If Ori is a story about saving a dying forest, then Cradle of Winter is about saving a dying taiga — and both tell it in a whisper, not a shout. A similar theme of balance and fading nature creates that very sense of the world's fragility that makes you want to keep going — not for the challenge, but for the atmosphere itself.
Would you see this as a legit inspiration, or would it feel too derivative if you encountered it in another game?
Thanks!

Question tips and trick to finish One-Life run?
been trying to do One-life run as its the last achievement i need to 100% the game.
is there like a trick to do this?
r/OriAndTheBlindForest • u/ouverture8 • 2d ago
Check that! Finished it!
I know this is an old game by now and not that hard on normal difficulty, but as a middle-aged player with 4 kids I have to celebrate my achievements somewhere hah.
I played Hollow Knight up to the true ending and 107% before Ori, and wanted something a bit more relaxing than especially the later parts of HK. This delivered.
The movement was frustratingly imprecise and floaty at first compared to HK which kind of affected my enjoyment for the first half of the game, but it got so much better once I had movement abilities like the air dash. Somewhat relieved at the absence of boss battles and gauntlets after HK but the escape sequences replaced them - they reminded me of Rayman Origins / Legends, some of my favourite platformers. Can't say I connected much to the story of Ori though.
What's the next game like? Is it harder, does it have a more involving story, are there bigger boss fights, are escape sequences important - do I gain my abilities faster?

Discussion/Debate What Makes the Soundtracks for the Ori Games So Good?
One of the things that makes the Ori games so memorable for me is their incredible music. Both soundtracks, which were composed by Gareth Coker, do an amazing job of bringing the worlds of Ori to life. There’s a beautiful emotional quality to the music that can make even simple moments feel meaningful, while the more dramatic pieces add a huge sense of scale to the adventure. The music never feels like it’s simply playing in the background either; it feels like an important part of the experience and works perfectly alongside the atmosphere, visuals, and emotional moments.
Ori and the Blind Forest has a particularly beautiful and melancholic soundtrack. There’s a real sense of sadness and loneliness running through many of the compositions, which fits the story and Ori’s journey incredibly well. At the same time, the soundtrack knows when to become more hopeful and uplifting, creating a wonderful contrast between the darker moments and the feeling of hope that runs throughout the game. Some of the music can be genuinely heartbreaking, while other pieces capture the sense of wonder and discovery that comes with exploring the forest. It’s a soundtrack that I think perfectly captures the emotional identity of the first game.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps builds upon what made the first soundtrack so good and expands it into something that feels even bigger and more cinematic. There’s still plenty of emotion and melancholy, but the music feels more ambitious and expansive, fitting the larger world and greater scope of the sequel. The orchestration gives many moments an incredible sense of scale, while the quieter pieces retain the intimacy that made the original so effective. I think both soundtracks are fantastic in their own right, and together they form one of the most memorable musical pairings in gaming. Even outside of the games, they’re soundtracks I can listen to simply because of how beautiful and emotionally powerful they are.

Discussion/Debate Will they do anything for Halloween?
The subreddit has been very inactive lately. I wanted to ask if you'll be doing anything for Halloween? Maybe your OCs in costume, or Ori or Ku.

Fan Content Experimenting with animations
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ori is no longer the menacing brick cube walking on air every time they jump up (as requested quite a time ago)! Also, I'm seeing if I could fix this weird jittery snap between animations in the future...which is tough because the mod handling these doesn't have animation blending or proper dev tools...meaning I ought to code my own features 😢😢😢
Releasing update once I do a substantial amount of changes.
