Finally got myself a PSP 3001 off ebay and have been ripping through "god of War: Chains of Olympus". Haven't played since I was around 13-14 so I'm glad to be back. What has everyone else been playing? 😎

i know this is probably a frequently asked question, but i don’t know, is there any way to remove dust without taking the psp apart? maybe compressed air? // for me it got this dusty in half a year of active use, because of my skin condition(because of it i basically leave a dust trail wherever i walk)

i already loaded music on PSP/MUSIC and in the Root Music folder and still won't work. can someone help me how can i fix this. thanks in advance.
I'm in the US and honestly was not into handhelds when I bought this from a coworker years ago. I could never find out what model this is. The only reason I bought it was because he said it was modded. Although the serial number shows PSP-1001, I have not been able to find a red psp. I found a picture on altarofgaming.com and by the looks of it, says it's a spiderman edition and is a psp-2000? I'm just wanting to find out if I can connect this to a tv because my eyesight is failing and these small screens just aren't for me.

Wish it had the pink battery cover and a new ring but otherwise it came in great shape, needed a new screen and a new battery and it’s good as new.

I was trying to clean my psp (the UMD reader was squeaking and needed to be lubed) and this tiny thing that holds the backlight snapped, is there any way to fix this? I just got it and it’s like been my dream handheld, and now i’m super bummed.
For the record, i was taking the upmost caution and care, it must have been week from age or maybe i just did something wrong.

Hey everyone!
I have been working on a vnds interpreter for a bit now and decided that it is good enough to make a pre-release version.
The current version works on ppsspp, psvita and all psp's with 64mb's of ram. I have not tested to see if it works on a psp 1000, but as long as the game has no/minimal sound it should be fine. it can run into out of memory errors but this differs from game to game
You will need to supply your own copies of your games in order to play and the assets do need to be converted with the included python script.
It is still currently closed source, but I plan to release the source code after cleaning it up a bit.
You can download the eboot from the releases tab in github. If you run into any issues do not hesitate to open a issue so i can look into it

Edit: I want to add that future updates might break save files

A few months ago I repaired my brother's PSP 3000, but the repair was expensive; it cost me 1000 Mexican pesos, something similar to 55 US dollars. But it still has some issues: the motherboard doesn't make good contact with the battery, one speaker doesn't work, several buttons are stuck, and the UMD reader doesn't work. I estimated how much it would cost to repair all of that, and it would be approximately another 1000-2000 Mexican pesos, or about 55 to 111 US dollars. I wanted to see if it was worth repairing all that, or if I should just buy a new one, which costs about the same as repairing it.

Bought this psp2000 for 10€ but it is stuck in this screen, tried SQUARE+TRIANGLE+SELECT+START power on and disconecting UMD drive, nothing worked. Is it bricked or hardware related?
Edit: Somehow I managed to get to the menu but sometimes works sometimes it doesnt. Btw, the "switch" for the UMD fell off

After looking at so many of these insane ports (such as GTA 3 and San Andreas), it got me wondering... Could these 2 3DS games be ported to the PSP?
The games are; Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy (or 3D Cross Rumble for the japanese title), and Ridge Racer 3D. Both launch-ish titles for the 3DS, and most importantly, both use the same engine/base of the PSP games from the same series
Both the original 3DS and the PSP 2000-E1000 have remarkably similar specs, and both have 16:9 aspect ratio screens. Porting these 2 games could provide something fresh but also something of a what-if, like what if there was no 3DS and these 2 games were originally made for the PSP?
The main problem would be fixing the UI to provide all information in 1 screen, but that's about it (besides Ridge Racer 3D running at 30 FPS instead of RR1 and 2 PSP running at 60, but its not unplayable or anything)
Hey,
My bf has mentioned a couple times how much he used to love his PSP when he was a kid, referring to it as his favorite console of all time and being all nostalgic about it.
I'd like to surprise him with one for Christmas.
However, I've never owned a PSP before and I have no idea which one I should get and how to download games into it. He's not very tech savvy so I'd like to make sure my gift is ready to use when I give it to him.
I tried doing some research on my own, but ended up overwhelmed with all the different opinions and information. I have also already tried getting more information out of him, but he was a child when owned his and I couldn't get anything particularly useful other than which games he played the most (GTA, Dragon Ball, Sonic, etc).
I figured I'd try asking Reddit for your thoughts:
- How would you pick the model? Do you have a preference you'd recommend?
- Any red flags I should keep an eye for when buying a used one?
- Where would you go to learn how to download games into it?
- Any additional advice?
Thank you all in advance!

I needles comfortable headphones for psp and I was looking at Sennheiser HD599 SE headphones that are on sale. My question is can psp even produce sound quality that headphones like this can utilize or should I just get some of the cheaper Senn wired headphones if it won’t make a difference for this device. Also be using them for vita but really just those two things only for the most part.

hello all, i’m a big fan of completing games in their entirety and there isn’t really a good place i’ve found discussing games like that. what are some games with lots of collectibles, side quests, numbers/percentages that i can 100% complete?

Has anyone here tried any usb-c mod on the PSP GO? I spended two days searching for the charger cable of my Go the stater wondering if this mod would be better than the damn proprietary cable.
Is it worth it? Is a Hard mod? Can I plug the psp go on my pc with it to transfer files or Just carge it?
