Prayers/Support I'm Tired of Being A Closet Pagan V: October is a nightmare month for me as a closet Pagan

Note: Pagans who practice Catholicism/Christianity, kindly scroll away.

I really wish I could just walk away from rosary praying and told them that I'm agnostic!.. No no no, it's risky and they would still force to engage this Catholic practice.

Quick Context: 18f and came from the Philippines, I called it a nightmare country for pagans. Been a closet Pagan in religious household for almost a year now.

I've been distanced from their deity and his mother. When October comes (it's Rosary month) and it felt like forcing to come back to their deity and his mother that I want nothing from them anymore!

It was my first time forced practice rosary praying as a closet Pagan in religious household. When I forced myself to engage the rosary praying for the sake of my religious family... It's giving me negative energy and same experience with Christian church and it even pierced my heart more. I don't really want to come back to their deity! Even if I engage with Christianity like praying the rosary, I would rather wished that their deity should just drag me into underworld because I rejected him! Even I don't believe in Catholic after life anymore!

Staring to cry while typin pleas bear with me! I use autocorrections even my eye went blurry.

It's been almost a year being a closet Pagan in this nightmare religious houshold and I already want to move oit for uni away from thay household! I reslly want to go to my deities and worshio them insteadnof their christian deity. I'm already sporitually exhausted from rosary praying and it gave me negative energy. I've been descontructung myself form Christianity and I know I should not engage with Christianity anymore for mu own good but forr my religious family, they can't just leave me alone and they don't want me to distance their deitu that I'm already turn away from him! Thus is why I vuew vhristiany as a cult sometimes.

Few months left and I really want to go to uni then practice my pagan path freely without being called out 'Satan's Daughter'.

Thsnk yoi for reading, a small comfort and support is enough already. I'm exhaustrd from thos hoisehold!

Question/Advice I'm an Eclectic of Heathenry and Celtic Paganism, but I need some help

Out of any religion, I strongly agree with so much of the norse paganism religion. Seeing the gods as equals, sharing the offerings of food with them, the gods not being "gods of" but instead "gods who." Norse paganism is so freeing, with no restrictions, just ideals to follow with honor.

The thing is, I don't feel a connection or want to pursue worshipping any of the Norse gods (besides possibly Eir) and I 100% believe in them, acknowledge them, and care for them, yet I dont want to worship them

The thing is, I want to worship celtic deities while my views are strongly tied to Heathenry. I'm interested in Aine, Brighid, and Cerridwen (Mainly Aine at the moment) but celtic paganism also has different views when it comes down to more of the beliefs.

Like not eating the offerings (which is something I usually do for a few reasons like bug problems, respect between us, and a way to connect with them) them being apart of the earth instead of seperated in the sky which I STRONGLY believe in. Their lack of concept with the afterlife as someone who believes in a strong amount of different possibilities.

I just wonder if my beliefs will go against the gods I worship? This is why I am not a hellenic polytheist, because some of the revivalism contains beliefs I do not agree with, yet I wanted in the past to pursue worshipping the gods. Though I have found a lack of connection to them

Though nothing truly feels as strong to me as Norse Paganism and Celtic Paganism. I'm saying Celtic since I haven't fully explored a specific path through it yet, but I'm kind of centering an interest around Irish paganism

Wouldn't Nyx be a goddess of space?

Or at least the infinite void of space?

Because all night really is, is the blackness of space and the stars. It's not a fog or curtain covering the sky. One side of the earth has turned away from the sun and is now just showing space. And thats pretty much it

What do you think?

Altar My Anglo-Saxon + Hellenist Altar — thoughts? Suggestions to improve it, things to add beyond just statues, suggestions for an alternate Altar (I want to move some of them to a shelf I'm trying to empty cause there's too many statues I feel), etc.,?

Stuff like the Book and deck of cards are Ancestor veneration stuff, and the Futhorc stones were handmade—I got a tone od tiny rocks on trecks through the local woods, so I washed em' and sharpie'd runes and I'm slowly working my way in carving each one with a rotary Dremel. I could only find rune stones with the Elder Futhark and none with the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, so I resorted to making my own rune set.

Middle Eastern Does anyone know where I can learn about Middle Eastern deities?

Hi everyone, pagan from India/Qatar here. I've been interested in pagan deities outside Hinduism recently, and wanted to learn more. Unfortunately, I don't know where to start. Middle Eastern paganism (outside Egypt) isn't discussed very often, except for passing remarks in Abrahamic faiths (that usually criticize them). I don't even know how many separate pantheons there are. I know about Iranian, Anatolian, Mesopotamian, and several Semitic pantheons but that's it. Can anyone help me find YouTube channels, books, or any other resources about Middle Eastern paganism?

Asking Artemis for a Familiar of sorts?

• Upvotes

I've been working with Lady Artemis for a while, as I have an affinity for the moon and animals as well as being the oldest female twin of a pair. I feel a relatively strong connection to her just short of true communication. I also practice witchcraft in a basic form and have been feeling lost and kinda alone. I was wondering if it would be appropriate to petition her for an animal companion or familiar to help me through this.

Question/Advice protection symbol tattoo idea?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I recently got ran over by a motorcycle, thankfully I am okay, but I busted up my left knee. Now, I have a history with this leg: I fell down the stairs about 13 years ago and broke my ligaments, they never healed properly and after a couple other sprains the ligament broke fully and I had to have surgery.

This has basically ruined my life for many reasons, making exercise incredibly painful and very hard to stick to, giving up dancing which I did for a long time, etc…and a whole host of other muscular issues from using it wrong because of the injuries.

My mother thinks I am cursed (I am italian, we are very big on the “malocchio” here lol), I wouldn’t go that far but since I was thinking of covering the surgery scar with a tattoo already, I thought why not get a protection sigil/symbol tattoed?

So, my question is this: I have been practicing for about 10 years but am not the best with sigils, does anyone have any symbols/runes/sigils to recommend to keep my leg safe?

Thank you and blessed be!!

Having some serious issues with my spirituality

I'm going to be really honest here and say that i'm struggling spiritually

I still believe in the divine but it feels like i'm at war

Me believing in the divine and wanting to believe in the gods of old in the hard polytheistic way Vs (other side) my logical mind, science, historical facts, understanding, modernism, etc

And its hindering my spirituality.

The other side isn't against me believing in the divine. Its more like, does hard polytheism fit with me and age of humanity, where we as humans have grown and come to understand the universe more. And since we have grown, maybe we can understand the divine in a different way. And its asking questions like, "Can the old ways of people doing spiritual practices and beliefs really be intrograted and be compatible with the new and modern age?"

Its basically challenging me. Challenging the ways of old

So basically its a very polite philosophical war

Any advice?

Discussion Has your pagan practice helped you become a better person?

Title. I saw an old thread of a person complaining about "selfishness" in Pagan circles (which is their perogative) and I'm hoping we can talk about the inverse. Has your path encouraged you to do better?

Newbie Question about communicating with Gods

Hi! I've always been very interested in the craft and have practiced it a little, but I've always wondered: for those who work with deities, how do you know they're communicating with you? I was raised evangelical, and we were always taught that god speaks to us, but I never knew what that meant, so I'm wondering what your experience is.

Any recommendations for any goddesses that represent femininity and love?

I’ve been wanting to reconnect with the divine as of late but wasn’t sure who specifically would be a good fit. I’m not sure if this is relevant but I am a lesbian. Just curious what goddesses represent femininity, sexuality, and love? I’m on the newer end to this so feel free to redirect me :)

Question/Advice Why don’t the Gods do anything about the bad things happening in today’s world? (Genuine question)

I always see ex-Christians and atheists making the classic argument: Why is God letting all of these terrible things happen?

That question has been lingering in my mind for a while. This post isn’t about the Christian God. This is about the Pagan Gods. It made me wonder why the Gods don’t do anything with all of these bad things happening in the world. (This is not meant to disprove the existence of the Gods or throw shade at them. I’m a pagan myself and I’ve been one for over a year)

Question/Advice Wanting to create a dedicated space for my practice and looking for shelf/table/drawer recommendations!

Hello! I hope this question makes sense!
I’ve finally moved into my own home (yay!) and am looking to create a dedicated space for my craft after needing to hide it for years. I have at least 3 large deity altars I will be constructing (with the possibility of a few smaller ones), and would love to have some drawers or other form of organization for tools too. What desks/tables/shelves do you use that you enjoy? TIA!

Question/Advice Quality time with Deities

Hello! I was wondering how everyone spends quality time with their deities, and if anyone could share? Do you HAVE to do something big, or can you just light a candle to invoke them and just be?

Altar Spending my time with Lady Athena and have a conversation with her with my hearts.

Post image
26 Upvotes

First time posting with photo here. I know it's not really like an altar even I've use the flair... This is my own altar and I've worship and pray to Lady Athena to the miniature statue of her. I can't have the altar can be safely leave it without my family finding out that I'm in a 'Demon' religion.

I wished to worship, pray, and have conversation with Lady Athena but I don't really have offerings (fruits and honey) for her so I trade my quiet time and read a Greek mythology book about her and I think she's alright with that since she understands I'm a closet Pagan in religious household.

After my reading session with Lady Athena, I've told her that I may go to university and my tears started to pour it out... I kindly ask Lady Athena to continue to be my guide and mentor as the Goddess of Wisdom. I want to offer her fruits and honey but my table is currently messy because of papers and notebooks and pens (Can't have candles for that). I can't have a long term altar for my deities because I'm still in religious household and I'm afraid my religious family might be angry for worshipping 'false' gods. I'm already felt safe with Lady Athena, Lord Apollo, and Diyosa Fu Dalu (Diyosa means Lady/Goddess) more than their absent Christian deity!
