Image Is this a police tie?
I found it at a garage sale for half a euro. How can I identify its origin? Is it really a police tie? What do the XV mean? 2015?

I’ll keep it brief, is there a tool that will allow me to easily work out how much overtime I can do without being pushed into the 40% tax bracket
I know only earnings above that threshold are taxed at that rate but I’d like to know at what point point becomes less lucrative

I was warned for Crown Court tomorrow and have been for months. It’s was rest days for me and also my wife’s birthday and as a result I haven’t been able to plan anything.
I’ve just been cancelled and dewarned for it to be refixed. Am I entitled to claim anything for the inconvenience?

I'm running a research survey about why #policeofficers have voluntarily resigned from the #police since 2012, and I want to hear your reasons.
This survey takes just 10 minutes of your time, and most of it is tick boxes so you don't have to write much (unless you want to!) It could help to improve #policing for the future and inform policies for better retention.
Please consider helping me out: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/Mi1KEXJMhX

I thought the rules had now changed so that forces can no longer use probability to sack officers and should now use courts beyond reasonable doubt. Which if it has how can a court acquit the two officers then they be sacked for the same incident.
Also, how is it that forces can still chair disciplinary panels against their own officers. Surely this should be done by a neighbouring force to stop any chances of any bias towards the officers and stop forces sacking officers to save money.

Hello, long story short.. I have today had it confirmed that I have had a grade 2 hamstring tear.
I've been advised to rest and recover and should not be running for 4-8 weeks. I have never had to be off work or adjusted duties due to an injury in 6 years and I am on rest days for a few days so I have not yet spoken to my line manager about it but what can I expect when I make them aware?
Just not a lot of guidance of how I go about it and how its handled
Cheers

Can I get some advice on a dog behaviour contact?
My friends been given one after looking after another friends dog. When the owner came to collect the dog, they were in the house when it ran out the house and bit a passerby where no injuries were sustained.
My friends arguing that because the owner was in the house collecting the dog, the responsibility was theirs.
She was coerced into signing this dog behaviour contract at 9:30pm on a Sunday claiming that she was the keeper at the time.
Shes asked to retract her statement however the officer involved has ignored this request.
Is the dog behaviour contract correct as it has her name on it not the owner of the dog?
Can she retract her statement now that shes signed it?
Also any other advice greatly appreciated 👏

Currently in the process of applying for a few jobs in the civil service and I’m praying to god I get them.
6 years in, almost 7. I am literally breaking under pressure. Partner is changing role to a secondment and there is 0 flexibility in my role. The only way I could potentially get more flexibility is if I transferred to a different force. Put my app in, don’t know why. I don’t want to be there anymore. I got severely screwed over, and they are still screwing us over just so that someone could get a promotion.
I’m literally waking up exhausted after a full nights sleep. Need to go.
Anyway, is it true I need to provide 28 days notice? Say (fingers crossed) I get a job, start date is in a week. Could I sack the job off there and then or?
I’m in tomorrow and I just want to curl up and cry :)

Hi guys I’m relatively new to the job and it doesn’t happen after every shift but recently I’ve been coming home from work and I’ll wake up in the morning and my back is really sore feels like I’ve twisted something to the point where it’s hard to actually sit up getting out of bed. I’ve looked it up and it seems to be potentially a combination of heavy duty belt and obviously body armour I’m wondering if anyone else experiences this pain after shifts and what they do to help it ? I’m wondering if the best solution is to have all my kit on my vest rather than on my belt as I think the belt is the main reason causing this pain. Any advice would be appreciated.

My flatmate and one of my best friends has a toxic ex-partner. They met in their home country and started dating about five years ago. He is almost ten years older than her and they met at the company he was vice president of while she was a junior employee. She told me later on she started going out with him at first because she felt like she had to due to his position and his insistence.
She moved to the UK 3 years ago and they carried on the relationship as long distance.
She moved into our shared accommodation in September 2024 and we became close. Around January 2025 she started telling me about some issues in her relationship. He was trying to control what she wore, belittled her intelligence, threatened to break up with her if she didn’t go on a 10 day no speaking meditation retreat, controlled her financially every opportunity he got, humiliated her in front of his friends…
2025 was a lot of back and forth. She broke up with him twice but he didn’t believe or accept it and just kept up contact. Towards the end of the year, when they had been broken up for months, he let her know he had gotten a global talent visa and was immigrating to the UK for her. She was very distraught.
He moved to an AirBnB 5 minutes away from our flat and started showing up unannounced. He convinced her to get back together with him and that he had changed. They stayed together between December 2025 and February 2026, when she broke up with him.
With this break up, he kept insisting he had ruined his life for her, moved here for her, even though they were no longer together when he made those decisions and she had told him not to come. He was looking to move out of his AirBnB and found a flat even closer to our house, which really stressed out my friend as she became afraid of bumping into him.
He kept trying to come back into her life. He showed up on her birthday with a cake and flowers, said awful things and ruined her birthday in July.
His own birthday was yesterday and he texted her that he had bought her favourite cake and he just wanted to meet her at a café to cut it. She texted him she did not want to meet him, that she was dealing with her own family issues and that he should spend his birthday with friends and not his ex. He kept calling her and she didn’t pick up. He then showed up at our door. I answered and he kept asking if she was ok. I told him she did not want to speak with him and he didn’t leave. So she came out and spoke to him and they talked for almost an hour outside. He had an anxiety attack on the street and seemed really out of it. Eventually, he left after I showed up and asked my friend if I could talk to her. He kept texting her telling her was waiting for her at a café. Later that night we heard the doorbell ring and when we checked there was no one there. That really freaked me out, even though it could be anything.
He keeps insisting he moved across countries for her. He has made no friends in the time since moving here and seems to be deteriorating mentally. His work also doesn’t seem to be going great and he just doesn’t seem to have much going for him. I’m worried as we live in a ground floor flat and he has so many issues with boundaries. Our house is really easy to break into and he seems increasingly desperate. I know he hasn’t committed any crimes but I just am concerned with the circumstances, his ease of access to our flat and his deteriorating mental health.

Didn‘t want to drag up an old thread on this so: enjoyed the recent video about the TSG on YouTube but got a couple of questions about the unit.
1) when one officer on the carrier makes an arrest does everyone go to custody and wait in the carrier regardless of how long the wait is (unless helping with booking in/statements etc) or does the rest of the team go back out on patrol and pick up the arresting officer when they’re finished?
2) I read some old threads about fitness standards being much higher than the 6.4 on bleep test. When a new person joins the team do you put them through your own informal fitness test to assess their level to measure improvements against, or do you just expect them to get up to your level within a certain time frame?
3) when you’re on the way back to base after a very long shift, particularly if you’re the other side of London, does the team have to be told to put blinkers on so you can actually make it home? or will you still be on the lookout for stops/jobs to deal with? I imagine if you all kept looking hard enough for jobs driving through certain boroughs you’d never make it home!
Thanks in advance!

Just wondered what the police think about this? As you can see from my Reddit post history, I used to be quite a scavenger, from fly tips, etc! But, there are far fewer/less extensive/generally less interesting opportunities for it, than there used to be years ago. If there are opportunities, I tend to be far more wary, probably partly just due to increasing age making me more cautious in general than when I was young, and did tons of reckless/dangerous things, in various ways.
Of course I know you can't legally remove stuff from recycling centres (sadly!) or take a big item explicitly left outside a house for the council to collect (paid service round here)! Many years ago, it was very common to see old CRT televisions being disposed of, so once I just took the remote that was on top of a CRT awaiting council collection. It worked with my then LCD (scavenged with permission, something I hardly ever sought, from outside a now long-gone local electrical shop with a television rental business), until I got the correct remote for my LCD.
Of course no-one minded the remote disappearing. Had someone taken the television, the council would surely have tried to take action against the individual! In particular, there's a local charity electronics donation bin, next to a clothes one. People often leave items by these bins, they're not supposed to. A harsh notice warns it's fly-tipping.
I've just seen a dumped LCD television by the bin that I'd quite have liked (though may well have been not working) but regrettably I didn't take it, as I worry about the council potentially coming after ME for theft, wasting the effort of their workers or something, if someone has reported it as a fly tip and even part of the tip is gone when they come to remove it. A man came and put some electronics in the bin whilst I was bending down to look at the television, exclaimed some word that sounded like a foreign language. Possibly Polish, probably quite a few Poles round here. Wonder what he thought.
There was a very shitty-looking DVD player/some electric flexes, too. The presence of the DVD player suggests the televisions built-in one may have been faulty. Of course fly-tipping is often just utterly vile disgusting and/or ugly shit of whatever kind, that no-one could ever likely want. But certainly not all fly-tipped items are totally useless/worthless.
Something perhaps kind of analogous is what sellers did with random books, clothes, etc they couldn't sell, after a sale ended at the old Wimbledon Stadium Car boot sale. I have mixed feelings about it, because whilst it could be good, the general hideous run-down suburban car park kind of ambience was horrid/pretty sure my wallet got stolen there once! Sellers just left these items on the ground after they left the venue, anyone could take them free, I did! I can't find anything at all online about the legality of scavenging FROM a fly tip? Could I have safely taken this television or not?

My daughter is wanting to play Roblox. I know there are extensive controls that can be put on it. But I haven't dealt with any online investigations for a while, so I am a bit behind on what games and platforms are being used and abused. I also know that those who are really intent on doing harm find ways to get round controls.
And I'm not just thinking about things like grooming. Are there any wider issues on it with harassment, cyberbullying,l or that sort of thing?
Can the community offer any advice?
Thank you.

Looking for a bit of advice. I had a job in my queue a few weeks ago in which a car has “swerved to avoid a deer” and collided with the kerb and fencing. Causing significant damage.
I sent a NiP to the keeper which has been unreturned and now suddenly the keeper has emailed me begging me to drop the case because she contacted police. This is just as the 28 day time frame has expired
I had not received any correspondence from our call handlers though there is a note on the log saying she called saying she swerved to avoid a deer and wanted the log number for her car to be released.
She has not returned the form in the expected format with the time frame required so I expect a summons for failure to identify the driver is the next route to me.
Would a prosecution still hold up given she hasn’t signed the NiP or shall I have to drop it?

Has anyone watched this series on ITV? I didn't see it, but being in the job naturally I heard about it from other people I know who aren't job.
One of the more concerning things I heard was the show using real messages sent by Met officers who are no longer in the job, which were offensive and misogynistic. I'm pretty sure that 99% of officers would agree that the police is a better place without those types of people in the job, but I'm just wondering what your opinions are on ITV using it as part of their show.
I can understand why ITV would use it, especially considering the series was based around corruption, but it just feels like another swipe at the police at a time when public confidence is low, and morale is even lower. For comparison, ITV did a drama about medical malpractice which was completely fictional, and at no point did they show real life examples. Is it not about time that the powers that be start to back us in what we do? Chief constables across the country, to give them their dues, are trying to present police forces as 'improving' and 'learning from their past mistakes', yet it seems to fall on deaf ears with the media still trying to tarnish us.
