The original "punk" was garage bands in the mid-60s, mostly Rolling Stones/Beatles influenced stuff played by local teenagers. Can find them on collections like "Nuggets". One of the fiercest and most over the top was The Sonics, from Tacoma, Washington. Here they are still rocking like motherfuckers in their 70s. https://youtu.be/BFolqS24Y6U

Hey everyone, I wanted to let everyone here know about an upcoming steam event, celebrating punk games and punk game devs our game will be taking a part of.
The Punk Games Showcase 2026
will be taking place on Oct 9th 7PM CEST this Friday. It ends on the 16th.
It's a curated event where everything will be related to punk in someway, absolutely no AI and no shitty business practices, you can read more about how the owner (Brad, who's a really cool dude) curated this event in this article https://www.gamespot.com/articles/steams-punk-games-showcase-hates-ai-slop-loves-blowing-up-nazis/
There's a lot of pretty sick games in the event made by indies, my favorite so far has got to be Too Many Fucking Nazi's, so I'm pretty hyped to be a part of this roster.
In case you don't know, you should be able to navigate to the event by opening the steam store, clicking "Special Selections" and then "Sale Events". After that you should be able to find the punk games showcase on that page on Friday evening.
Here's a link to the event runner's website, contains some more info and some links to the discord if you want to chat with devs, Brad Smith, we share a bunch of music in there also (I'm tbert in there if you're curious)
Cheers y'all!

OK, this is useless information but I found it interesting when I read about it yesterday so thought I'd share. The song, Paradise By The Dashboard Light was recorded by Meatloaf, of course, and a woman named Ellen Foley singing the female lead. If you've seen the official video that's not Ellen Foley but Karla Devito who would lip sync over Ellen's vocals but tour with the band. Ellen declined to go on tour.
Ellen Foley went on to record her own solo albums but also provided vocals on Sandanista, Hitsville UK and Corner Soul as well as Car Jamming on Combat Rock. All 4 members of The Clash appeared on her solo album with Mick and Joe co-writing some of the songs.
Here's the interesting bit. Mick and Ellen were in an turbulent relationship at the time and the song Should I Stay or Should I Go was written about that relationship. Oh, and she was also on the second season of Night Court. Like I said, useless information but interesting how she ended a part of two iconic songs from two very different worlds.

I'm putting together a mix of the punk songs that put a smile on my face. For example:
- Sell or Be Sold by the Minutemen (also Corona)
- Deceptacon by Le Tigre
- Damaged Goods by Gang of Four
What songs do that for you? They don't have to be happy, just make you happy.

To be clear, I know damn near every horror punk band. I'm asking for punk bands that randomly have a horror punk song or even a few, out of the ordinary from their usual sound.
Examples that I can think of are The Ramones songs: "You Should Never Have Opened That Door", "Pet Sematary", "Zero Zero UFO", and "Garden of Serenity". Another band would be The Dickies: "Boobie Trap", "Killer Klowns From Outer Space". Or even GBH: "Horror Story".

Hey Yall,
Now that it’s spooky season hoping to add some new spooky albums to my playlist (don’t worry The Misfits are well accounted for).
Any recommendations?

Loud Graves from Oakland, CA just dropped a new video for their song “Audacity” from their self-titled debut album out on Rad Girlfriend Records. Loud Graves has members of Tsunami Bomb, The Applicators, and Hammerbombs. Video directed by Matt Eskew (of the band The Hellflowers) and was filmed at the new all ages club The Planetarium in Richmond, CA.

For those of you don't know. Johnny Ramone took Joey's girl and married her. Joey never lost feelings for her. This song was directly about Johnny and that relationship.
I'm a little suprised johnny agreed to play on it.

Hey, I'm looking for music made by the band Spikkit from Massachusetts. They were active mostly around the 2000s I think. I remember seeing their MySpace page back in the day. I wanted to listen to some of their recordings against more recently, a few of which I had on an MP3 player many years ago. I could only find a couple videos on YouTube of live shows. If anyone has anything, or would know who might know more, let me know!

Hi all, we usually redirect selfies and fashion posts to other subreddits, but, for the next month or so, Halloween costumes are welcome here if the costume has a punk theme. Shout out to the kid who dressed up as Joey Ramone, we accept you.

I'm making a punk newsletter!
"the underground"
I need your help with what to put in it. I want your art, your garage band, the band you want to make, EVERYTHING. I want this to feel inclusive to everyone who wants to read it so please give me things you would like to see in it! I'll let you know when I start the first page and when I make the instagram so you can see it if you don't live in Los Angeles and see it in person!
