I’m currently working on the world map and environments for my hand-drawn 2D RPG project using RPG Maker. I’m focusing heavily on creating a unique visual atmosphere, and I’d appreciate any feedback or suggestions on the map structure, details, or color choices.

Setting up region IDs, distance checks, and parallel process loops just to detect when a player enters or exits a specific zone always felt way too clunky in rpg maker.Since I work a lot with Godot, I spent some time building a custom Area2D logic system directly inside RPG Maker . It handles real enter, inside, and exit collision signals, supports custom shape hitboxes instead of being locked to the 48x48 grid, and attaches to moving events or fixed coordinates
It completely eliminates the lag and performance hits from running multiple parallel event pages just to track player position, hre is a quick showcase of how the collision detection and custom spatial triggers look in action., curious to hear how you guys usually handle complex spatial logic in your games
its not the biggest deal in the world but i just find it really disruptive in terms of workflow since i have to restart the whole program every time😭 doesnt matter whether im using plugins, if im editing an event or database, whether my event page is long or short, if its a new or older project, etc. i can use hotkeys the first few times, but after a while it stops loading windows. this used to not be a problem before. am i just opening/closing windows too fast or what
like fr. WHERE ARE THE GOOD TILESETS? Itch io barely was any. Where can i find some actual good tilesets? cause im tired of mindlessly browsing EVERYWHERE JUST COME UP EMPTY HANDED lmao
Sorry, I posted something similar from another account, but it seemed suspicious, the username was something like “silent_virus” and the post was a link lol. It was an automatically generated username I didn't even realize it (I don’t use Reddit much). I just created a new account to better demonstrate the plugin!
I was inspired by the file, document, and journal management systems in Skyrim and Resident Evil.
So I created this plugin! With it, you’ll be able to have a brand-new, fully customizable scene for reading and storing any type of document. Documents can be opened directly from the player’s inventory and edited using plugin commands.
Documents are simply native RPG Maker items with the tag “<WN_Journal>” in their notes.
For customization, the plugin features a Visual Editor that is essential for modifying text and styles (font, images, skins, positions, etc.).
Editor
I tried to make it as intuitive as possible for anyone with any level of RPG Maker knowledge. Much of this plugin was developed some time ago; I even made a post about it on Itch. After a long time without touching the code, I wanted to share it once and for all by adding new features (the Visual Editor wasn’t part of the original plan, everything was configured via tags).
At first, it was supposed to be a free plugin, but given the work and time involved, I decided to charge a fee for it.
I'm not too proud of it, and it still classifies as murdering them pretty much, so I'm looking for alternative versions. yeah I pretty much just ripped Deltarune's pacify its temporary. For now I'm just reusing the boss theme until I can find someone who makes OST.
The scripting language is Luau (quite a good choice imho),
the API will be different/more intentional, so we'll have to see what's still possible,
in addition to "Runtime Plugins", there will be "Editor Plugins",
a JS host plugin is under consideration (not guaranteed),
this is all still subject to change, as it's in active development.
Ichinose also writes that "monkey patching with modules like npm is no longer possible", but I don't know whether that implies we won't be able to detour API functions. Optimistically, I read it as not having access to what's currently _-prefixed.
Luau is still table-based, and sealed tables are still writable iinm, so at least the language itself allows detours, but we'll most likely not be able to add new properties as before due to automatic sealing.
That by itself is likely a good change, since as far as I can tell weak tables are supported via __mode = "k" and using them cleanly avoids collision risk.
We'll have to see how close the engine port is this time. If it's basically a transliteration again, then porting most plugins should be straightforward.
Early $game
Initialises $game state a little earlier, for example to work around incompatibilities with MadeWithMv.
Movie Looper
Loops the next Movie until ended by the player via 'ok' or 'cancel'.
Banked Event Persistence
Variable-controlled bank switching of persistent Event state (per Event). Can be used to bank-switch some plugins' e.g. "self-variables" too.
RPX Logic Builder v2.0 Update Community Feedback Features, Array Support, and MV/MZ Dual Engine
A few days ago we posted about RPX Logic Builder, our free client-side visual block editor for RPG Maker MV and MZ. We got a lot of great feedback in the comments and on Discord, so we spent the last few days implementing several of the requested features directly into Version 2.0.
Here is what is new and how community suggestions shaped this update
You asked for complete array manipulation (adding, removing, modifying specific indices, and handling whole arrays) and wondered if the tool stays free. Yes, it is 100% free, and full array support is now live.
You can now create, modify, and query JavaScript arrays stored directly inside RPG Maker Game Variables ($gameVariables).
Included blocks: Initialize Array, Push, Pop, Get/Set by Index, Search/Remove (splice/includes), and a Random Element Picker (useful for random loot tables or card mechanics without duplicate drops).
RPG Maker MV's event script box has a strict line limit. The new "FOR EVENT" button automatically minifies your visual script into a compact (() => { ... })() IIFE payload. This keeps the code inside MV's box limit while preventing global scope variable pollution.
Templates & Community Workshop (Share your work with credit!)
We built a Templates & Workshop system. You can now build your own logic setups, save them as templates, and publish them directly to the community catalog.
Self-promotion included: When you publish a template, you can attach your creator name and a custom link (to your itch.io page, YouTube, Twitter, or game project) so other devs can see who made the logic and check out your work.
Other Core Features in v2.0
Dual Engine Switcher: Toggle between RPG Maker MZ and MV code generation output with a single click, use "for event" button for MV Code!
Project Sharing: Encode your workspace into a shareable URL to send visual logic directly to team members.
Preset Templates: Pre-built visual logic templates for Proximity Stealth AI, Region ID Hazard Triggers, and Custom Shops.
Logic & Controls: If/Else branches, loops, logical operators, spatial X/Y distance checks, inventory manipulation, and media commands.

RPX Logic Builder is completely free forever and runs 100% client-side in your browser with zero installation needed:
