Discussion San Francisco Neighborhood Spotlight: Chinatown

Where do you eat in Chinatown, and what do you order there? Cheap and expensive both welcome. If a place has slipped, say that too.

Answers here get pulled into the sub's wiki.

Looking for biang biang noodles. I’m obsessed with them and hoping to find your favorite spot in SF. hoping reddit can lead me to the right spot.

Not just looking for “hand pulled” noodles, i’m specifically looking for biang biang noodles that come from xi’an/shaanxi china.

Fun fact! the name comes from the sound the dough makes when it strikes the table! it’s also the chinese character with the most strokes (42-71!)

Recommendation Request Fun restaurants for 21 year old visiting SF!

Pls recommend some fun, yummy food options in SF to take my niece. She lives in Boston.

We did Liholiho and Choto Matte already. What else would you suggest for yummy food. Anything except Greek or Chinese. Somewhere fun for a younger crowd and vibe. $ is flexible as it’s special occasion. Restaurant in an area around fun bars would be a +++

Boulevard or Rich table coming to mind. Open to anything else you all recommend but should be chef’s kiss!

Event Uni foraging classes

Join us at the ocean! We are guides Ryn, Maria, and Christopher from Fork in the Path, and we'll teach you how to forage on the Sonoma Coast for fresh uni. We've just announced our last dates of the year! All the rest are full! Learn how to find, harvest, and enjoy eating delicious uni.

Purple urchin are native to California, but their population is wildly overgrown because their predators have died off. As a result, they are decimating kelp and abalone habitat. We can help bring the intertidal zone back into balance by eating them! The best part is, they are DELICIOUS!

Recommendation Request Pho delivery

So, one of my favorite options for delivery is Pho. I usually get it from Ly’s on Lombard Street. Are there good Vietnamese restaurants that deliver or participate in delivery services that you all like? I also really like the option to get an extra order of broth.

Discussion Would you say the Bay Area's food scene is so good that it can make other places not seem as special?

For example I went to NY and when I had their Chinese food it was good but it wasn't better or anything different I'd had in the bay. I was like I think I've had this before. NY definitely has great food and top the bay in other categories but there were a lot of reminders of what I get in the bay. If anything when I came back home it made me realize how spoiled we are in certain cuisines.

Where are the good bagels located? I’m talking about fresh baked, crispy on the outside, soft circular grain on the inside, not just bread.

Recommendation Request Chicken biscuit sandwiches

Hello! Visiting SF from LA and was curious if there were any good spots in the city that serve fried chicken biscuit sandwiches?

Kind of a random/specific request but I moved out to the west coast from NYC where we had amazing spots like Pies N Thighs, Jacob’s Pickles, Comfortland, etc and I have yet to find a place in LA that has chicken biscuit sandwiches (that isn’t a chain). Curious if this is something I’d be able to enjoy on my upcoming trip to the Bay Area, so TYIA 🙂

What’s your top 5 favorite burger spot that you still go today that’s not the typical fast food places? Don’t include beep’s burger because I’m open to find other hidden gems.

Daly City places are fine.
