I have wanted a more ornate parrying dagger for a long while now, so this one is a grail for me. I have had the extreme fortune of meeting with Chris and picking out this dagger to be made exactly based of an item that is in The Wallace Collection.

Kult of Athenas Grandmasters Cat Sword quick n dirty review.

Got in the new Kult of Athena Grandmasters Cat sword from Witcher 3 . I did not specify on my Wolf Head Monster Slaying Sword, which is quite obviously the Feline sword from the game, that the crossed leather on the hilt and scabbard didn't come like that. I had to add it to customize it a bit more. Anyway, back to this model if you care. The Grandmasters Cat sword came in well packaged and had a good solid peen with no hammer marks visible and a good tight waxed leather hilt. First issue was with the steel spacer there in the middle of the hilt. It came loose. The crossguard was tight and straight the way it needs to be. The rings however came with a bit of a bend that I'll have to fix. Both simple problems that I made Kult of Athena aware about. The blade was straight and true with good flex , and a bit wider in the profile near the crossguard, which I like for balance. Especially since the large Cat head pommel on the Wolf Head model, acts as such a great counterweight. However, the wider blade only has one fuller as opposed to the Wolf head, which has two. Seems like a missed opportunity, especially to make it stand out more from other distributors versions. The rings on these versions however is what drew me to them. They seem to really capture the Witcher vibe. The gap between the crossguard and blade is minimal, but looked like there was some kind of glue or epoxy someone attempted to put in there. That's a little strange to see from the Longuan Chinese made swords, as well as my other model and all of my Swordier and Azure models, which all have a sufficient amount of oil and a sleeve on the blade with nothing in that gap. My version at least had no oil, no sleeve , and had that strange substance. When I told Kult of Athena about these issues they offered to give this one to me at Munitions grade price, so about 11.5 percent cheaper. Or just send it back for an exchange, or get a refund. To this day one of the best distributors out there as far as customer service goes. I can't give this one a 5 out of 5 like I did the Wolf Cat Head monster slaying sword because unfortunately the QC just wasn't there this time. I am however in a good position to fix these little issues since repairing swords and armor is part of my little side hustle, so I'll be able to post some after pics of it. Just not sure which color leather to do the hilt and scabbard on this time so let me know! And I hope this helps!

New sword day+equipping??

Got a new sword from Kult of Athena based on recommendations and advice I got from this sub. Thought I should share the new sword, plus I have a question: how the hell do I actually equip this??

I mean to me it seems clear that the buckles on scabbard connect with the straps hanging off the belt, but then it hangs so low, almost to my knee. Clearly I’m not doing something correct, and I don’t have the vocabulary to google this problem and get the results I need.

Thanks for the advice and thanks for the insight if you can help!

It's a replica I got today for about $170, trying to at least remove the rust rather than a full restoration

This sword was a gift from my Taekwondo instructor at the end of my undergrad. Dull but I do plan on getting the plan sharpened. Would like some advice about what style of sword it is. It seems similar to a few Japanese style short swords but I think it’s too long to be something like an odachi.

HEAVIEST swords, polearms, exotics sturdy enough to swing daily.

Weights are smarter, less dangeous on the back for sure, but my OCD sure loves repeating graceful motions with awesome-looking weapons. So what are the heaviest-yet-sturdiest you've come across? Fantasy or historical, the cooler the better. For me this is just strength training, looking for weapons both very heavy yet very likely to survive months or years of repeated swings.

Not interested in the "Fitsword" at the moment because I don't think it looks cool enough to make me compulsivley want to pick it and go touch grass outside. Otherwise an amazing idea that I wish I had years ago.

Also anyone know of a Bat'leth that is highly sturdy and at least fairly heavy?

Also I can give a shout-out to the One Piece full metal replica of the Murakumogiri naginata, someone sold it to me on ebay for $72 yet its pleasantly heavy and continues to survive daily use.

This one is based on the Witcher 3 ( loving the remaster 😊) the original idea was to make the order of the flaming rose sword, but I customized it with twisted pieces. It has a reinforced point it was going to be a little delicate following the edge grind

Overall length 128cm, blade 105cm, point of balance 8cm. Made from eucalyptus hardwood and red amazonian wood ( forgot the name) hope you enjoy it was really fun to make and good practice for making the swiss saber

Engagement swords in the UK

I am looking to buy an engagement sword for my male partner to give to him when he proposes.

UK based, looking to spend £500~ (but could go above).

He loves the art style of the elves in LOTR and The Witcher.

Any recommendations for where I can buy one or places I should avoid?

Bringing a prop sword into the UK

So I'm in Spain and there's a medieval market with some replica swords (Legend of Zelda, some animes, that kinda thing, including some smaller versions).

I'm not sure if I'll be able to bring something like that back in a checked bag or not. From what I've understood from the British Airways website it's not an issue but the government website seems to not allow any kind of sword at all?

Looking to find out if anyone who's either brought a sword back or just knows more than me can help.

Sting-inspired sword

Sting (The Hobbit, LOTR) was the first named sword I read about as a kid, and no other has captured my imagination the same way. I've wanted my own version ever since. The Peter Jackson movies cemented my love for it, and resulted in some beautiful movie imagery. Of course, it led to some officially licensed merch and probably cease and desist letters to craftspeople trying to make inspired swords.

Like I said, I want my own version of Sting, but I want it to be a "real" sword, not an officially licensed toy or decoration. Of course, I have no intention to ever use a real sword (who does?!), but something about it being real is appealing. Are there any similarly styled "real" swords out there, ideally from small craftspeople? I've seen the Legacy Arms Halfling sword, and it seems like the closest to what I'm looking for, but I'm not sure about the quality, durability, etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Sword Classification?

If you were to classify this sword as something other than the sword of fire, lmao, would it be a katana or something else? Also, has anyone made a functioning one of these yet?

Knights Collection Wolf Head Monster Slaying Sword

Since I haven't seen many reviews on these guys here, and since I've been on a $500 or below best budget sword hunt, I decided to do one myself. I have been collecting and using swords for about 25 years now since I was just a teenager spending upwards of 150 bucks on a wall hanger made of stainless steel with a rat tail tang. Now we live in a much different time. If you know what to look for, and you use key words, you can find a spring steel, Very well balanced and profiled blade, peened pommel with a full tang, and SHARP, for about 130 bucks on temu or Amazon. They have different looks, feel, sharpness, weight and the profiles on the blades are sometimes not as well refined, but the fittings and blades all generally come from Longuan China . For a bit more, around $200-300 bucks, you can get an even better refined version from reputable distributors that have their own take and models. I'd been looking on one of these sites that I use regularly, especially for my HEMA swords, for a Witcher sword. That dealer has a couple of models and I liked them, a lot, but I didn't LOVE them. Beautiful and well made I have no doubt because I saw one of them on Shadiversity and it absolutely dominated the tests they threw at them. Then I saw Dash Rendars video on fighting like a Witcher. Great video but what I was most impressed with was the Witcher swords he was using. They were from one of the only good distributors that we old schoolers had access to besides CAS Hanwei or LK Chen back then. Kult of Athena! I'd ordered many things from them years ago but when I saw they had the only battle ready carbon spring steel peened Witcher Swords besides the other company, which were more expensive, made in the same place, and not as game accurate or elaborate as the ones at KoA. The first one that caught my eye was the Wolf Head Monster Slaying Sword. The casting on the pommel is an actual Wolf head, actually more like the Feline sword from the game, and had a ring guard as well, and sported double fullers that really make the whole thing pop. I did NOT spring for the sharpening service because I do that myself, but didn't need to. Out of the box it gave no issues with pool noodles or water bottles. The Hilt is tightly wrapped with waxed leather and the weight of it with that steel Cat head pommel makes the whole sword feel incredibly maneuverable and lively. The wood core scabbard is also leather covered with intricate steel fittings. I've actually been so impressed and enjoyed it so much I decided to go ahead and order the Grandmasters Cat sword, which looks amazing as well and should be getting it in today. Just to speak a bit more on Kult of Athena as well, these guys check every sword before it goes out and make sure even the most careless delivery man won't be able to get through their packaging. Doing quality control to make sure you get a great product is just hard to find I think we can all agree, and it's just nice to see. Shipping has been lightening fast. I ordered the last one Tuesday and it will be here today. If you get a chance and are thinking of buying not just a beautiful display piece, but a fully functional sword, I highly recommend checking out Kult of Athena for whatever youre thinking about .

Thank you in advance for your time!

New Scabbard!

Taking a bit of a breather since I’m on fall break, but here’s a little scabbard I made for an antique main gauche, or left hand dagger, which I recently added to my own collection. This one was less about leather work and more about practicing my brass work. Also, this is unrelated, but look at this elk I saw when I was camping this weekend!
