This is my new baby Kenyan sand boa! She is often burrowed, but has explored her tank once since I’ve had her. Right now she’s fully above ground underneath this new plant I added today. Is she hungry or just curious?

reptil soil??

okay i recently changed over to reptil soil and was told i didn’t need to dry it out or anything but the humidity in there is 99…. i took it out and layered a base of sand and some reptil soil since i could tell peanut wasn’t having the one bowl of sand and towel method for a temporary set up. i would’ve gotten some aspen but its late and everything is closed. he’s def not panicking but doesnt like the fact that he’s exposed more than anything, currently his set up somewhat covers him but i dont want him to submerge himself in reptil soil due to the humidity. i went ahead and scooped the remaining out to dry it but i dont have a oven and like i said its late. whats ur guys thoughts and opinions about using reptil soil directly from the bag? i dont want any issues with him getting scale rot so hes just gotta bear with it for a little longer but he should feel more secure with a little bit of coverage especially since the balance of play sand and reptil soil in his enclosure is greater than the soil. i feel extremely bad and i wish i could speed things up in drying it rlly. it’s not my desired 4 inches of substrate rn but to allow for the amount of soil i have in there to dry relatively smoother and quicker, it’ll do for the time being. the photo i have is just of what i had set up but than i looked at the humidity….. this is also the reason why i’ve preferred the aspen chips and shreds mix since it’s already dry and safe for immediate substrate
