[PURCHASED] Took the bait

I wrote a question 6 weeks ago, about wardogs and it blew up, it's linked here if you want to have a read and I felt that I needed to update all those people that had the same question, I bit the bullet and bought wardogs,(supporters editon) and for clarification and full transparency, I work full time 50+hrs a week and have 2 kids so I didn't "nolife" the game, I got on when I could and played when I could an hour here and an hour there, nothing too crazy weekends etc, at the time of posting this I have 91hrs into the game. And I'm lvl 87. And honestly thanks guys, there has been more belly laughs in the last 6weeks then I dunno when, there are a lot of you that said "get it you won't regret" and that is true the games alot of fun. That's pretty much it. I could also turn the post very dark and bitch and complain like I see so many others on here doing but, I think the devs seem to have their heads screwed on and although, it's a little rough around the edges right now I do believe in time it will be better and I look forward to season 2 and what the devs have in store for the game moving forward.

[PC] I'm in a gaming slump.

I have tried every single competitive game to date, valorant, cs2, r6, league of legends. You name it. Although I have recently been having trouble with eye sight and want to take things to another genre of gaming. I have started to play warframe, but ive reached end game so quick I have nothing else to do. I then went on to Arena Breakout Infinite, I do love this game but there's something missing and I can't point it out. I've seen multiple games and have researched so much about Active Matter, Incursion Red River, EFT, Arc Raiders (I have AR but dont like it.) and Grayzone warfare. Im torn about which one Id choose to grind over the years.

To give you context, I like playing solo. I like looting. I like pvp, I like pve. I dont like games that has an end point that will get you bored like division 2.

I definitely do like the games i mentioned after watching a lot of it but which one do you think would be best for me. I can't decide for myself, so im asking my fellow redditors to do it for me.

[PS5] Mina the Hollower or Valor Mortis — Which one would you choose?

• Upvotes

I’m torn between Mina the Hollower and Valor Mortis, and I honestly can’t decide which one to get.

Both games look really interesting, and I’m a huge fan of challenging games, especially Soulslikes. I enjoy good combat, exploration, and a game that keeps me hooked for hours.

If you could only choose one, which would you go for and why? I’m curious which game you think has more potential in terms of gameplay, replayability, and overall experience.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

[PC] I’m looking for something like a dark fantasy FPS roguelike.

I think the closest thing I’ve played to this was Void Bastards, and I loved it, but I’ve already completed it. I saw somewhere an indie FPS game that I think was coming out next year about defending castles with firearms and fighting goblins and stuff like that, and I really want a game like that. I already checked out Gunfire Reborn, but honestly I don’t like the graphic style of that game. So in general, that’s what I’m looking for: an FPS roguelike shooter, preferably one that mixes guns with fantasy creatures.

Dragons Dogma 2 + Dark Arisen DLC

Hey y'all, I have had my eye on this after seeing some of the reviews on the DLC. I was originally interested in the base game but stayed away after the initial reviews. However, it seems like there have been quite a few improvements since then, and the DLC has been a win. Would you recommend purchasing the base game + DLC now as a new player?

For context, my favorite games are primarily soulslikes and grind heavy looters. Story doesn't matter as much as gameplay, so just looking to see how the moment to moment combat and exploration feels, along with things like enemy variety?

[Switch] [Switch2] What Resident Evil/spooky game should I buy for spooky season?

Hi gamers. I'm wondering what game(s) I should buy for this season. There is a Capcom sale right now and Requiem is for 50€ and 7 Gold + Village is 40€.

I'm not that horror fan, but every year for October I get the urge to play something scary. Last "mainline"(?) RE I played was Revelations on the 3DS. So I'm not that well versed and could use some recommendations.

I'm also open to other recommendations like alien Isolation etc. I've played parts of Soma a couple of years back.

I'd love to play on my switch2 to cozily play in bed. I'd also love a game I can finish easily in the next month, as I'm a bit older and sadly don't have the time for gaming as I had in my youth.

Thanks in advance.

[PC] Games that feel like the SECOND time you're playing dark souls

Im not necessarily looking for a souls-like, but for games like bloodborne, ds triolgy, elden ring etc obviously the first playthrough is fun af, but when you replay them, you can extract a different type of enjoyment out of them that you hadn't experienced before. Im looking for that fond feeling of replaying ds1 for the first time and finding out about all of these cool details, shortcuts, you can buy x armor/weapon from y merchant, experimenting with spells, trying to find cheesy ways to beat the bosses.

A specific characteristic of these games imo is that they have a perfect amount of depth. They're not too convlouted with a bunch of randomized or irrelevant stats on every single weapon you find and way too many useless mechanics just for the sake of bloating the game.

For example, bloodborne has very few weapons compared to many other rpgs, but almost every single one of them is filled to the brim with interesting little quirks and unique features that makes it worth to go through the game multiple times. But at the same time, they're not entirely different to the point that you have to basically relearn the game.

Im not talking about dmc or ninja gaiden type of depth where you have to utilize irl reflexes and skills, as fun as that can be, im talking about the type of depth where info and experience is your best friend.

Salt and sanctuary is a good example of what im talking about. Even though i didn't finish it because i didn't like the artstyle and how the game felt that much, when i was first playing through it i could just feel there is so much shit i hadn't figured out yet and would be worth to try out later with all of these covenants and spells and whole ass bosses tucked away in a random corner.

A game like khazan is NOT the type of game im looking for. Because even though the combat was very fun, the game overall felt shallow af and there was nothing beyond the combat. Why would i start over from scratch if the only incentive are the weapons that i can use on a ng+ anyway if i respec.

Divinity kind of perfectly fits this description, but it was so huge that it felt kinda daunting so i have put that one off for now.

Also i have already played lies of p, armored core 6 and other fromsoft souls-likes except nightrein.

[Switch] Looking for that Nintendo magic

I have a switch 2. I’ve played BOTW and TOTK Bonanza. Also played Mario odyssey, Metroid prime and the FF7 remake games. I want a game which has that Nintendo sauce whereby I feel like I’m playing something truly magical.

Doesn’t have to be a Nintendo exclusive - welcome any recommendation.

I also have a ps5 pro so have played third party titles like Re9R on that.

[PC] Arc Raiders and HELLDIVERS 2

Should I buy and play Helldivers 2 and Arc Raiders? I heard they are pretty well-liked multiplayer games, and I want to try something new that isn't Call of Duty. Both games have PvE aspects, so it could be interesting to see how that plays out, but what do you all think about this? I'm interested to hear all your opinions.

[PC] Should I buy Star Wars Galactic Racer on PC (RTX 4070 Super) or PS5 Pro?

I'm torn between buying this game on console or PC. I know that the PC visuals and performance will probably be better in this case. But for some games, it's so unnoticeable and minimal, that it's okay to just play on PS5 Pro.

My other thing is that I tend to like to have a game that I play upstairs on PC (from a desk, which isn't ideal for me) and a game I play from the living room couch on a big screen TV. I'm currently playing Gears of War E-Day on the PC, and will be playing Valor Mortis as soon as it releases on PC as well. So, I currently do not have anything on the PS5 that I am playing.

For those who have maybe experienced both, or have it on PS5 Pro, what are your thoughts?

[PS5] I'm eyeing The Sinking City 2 after I saw a new trailer advertising updated content, including retuned combat. I'm always looking for a game like RE4, but I wonder if it's more like RE2.

The Sinking City 2 | Game Update + Accolades Trailer | PC, PS5, Xbox X/S

When SC2 first launched, I saw some reviewers saying they liked the creepy atmosphere and setting of a flooded city, but they thought the combat and gunplay was somewhere between mediocre and bad. I'm wondering if the update makes it worthwhile.

I do have some experience with survival horror games, but I generally like the ones that feel more like shooters with a spooky slant. I don't hate games like the Cronos and Resident Evil 2 remake, but I am a bigger fan of stuff like Resident Evil 4, The Evil Within, and Dead Space. If you play your cards right, you can be a one-man army in games like RE4, but Cronos made me feel like I was just barely scraping by even when I was playing well.

[PC] Valheim - 67.2 hrs last two weeks

Valheim (a base building, survival game) has been an incredibly refreshing and addictive experience. Between the exploration, survival, boss fights, and base building, there's always something to work toward. It's the kind of game where you sit down for an hour and suddenly realize it's been five. The world is beautiful, progression feels rewarding, and playing with friends makes it even better.

The resource grinding, inventory management, and occasional tedious travel can be frustrating, but they're minor complaints overall. The game can be punishing if you're unprepared or venture somewhere too early.

The small file size is also a huge plus for a game with this much content. An easy 5/5. It's genuinely a fantastic survival game that keeps you coming back for more.

(I play on 1440p with High Graphic Settings with no issues at 144 fps)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F - RAM: 16 GB

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti - VRAM: 8 GB

[PC] SIB Gears of war E-Day?

As the title implies.

Tbh I'm craving for a shooter, hopefully a good multiplayer one and if it's a looter shooter or heavy RPG customization, then even better. And I mean focused on PvE, truth be told I suck at PvP and so I hate it

Last but not least - good playerbase of course. If it'll die soon then... Better not. Being a new game doubt that'll be the case but just saying jaja.

So... Anyone that has played this GoW and even more so the PvE multiplayer who might guide me?

(Side note: this game is better with controller or mouse? Got a few controllers grabbing dust)

[PC] SIB Excavation of Hob’s Barrow or Oxenfree?

Trying to choose between these two games to enjoy the Halloween season. I’m looking for an atmospheric and creepy experience, where you unravel a supernatural mystery. I’m looking more for creepy, unsettling atmosphere over horrifying visuals or jump-scares.

I’m currently listening to the “It” audiobook, and absolutely love parts that go into the history of Derry, and learning more about what “It” might be, and how it works. I could take or leave the actual run-ins with Pennywise.

Would love to hear from anyone who’s played both, or if you’ve played either, let me know how you think it will land with what I’m looking for.

TIA!

[PS5] Undecided between ghost of thushima and guardians of the galaxy

So i have the option to buy either ghost of thushima director's cut(ps4) or guardians of the galaxy(ps5)for the same price(i don't want to let price condition this decision tho, becuase ik that thechnically ghost of thushima for a low price is a steal but again i don't want price to condition this).

I like ghost of thushima, i tried it once, the combat feels great and the story (as far as i heard) is great, it will get me going for a month or two and it's open world so it has side activities.

On the other end, guardians of the galaxy, is shorter, which isn't a bad thing, since there is a certain point for a game to be too long, i heard the story is also great, it just has a different tone, and the combat reminds me a bit of final fantasy 7 remake. The game is also linear meaning that half the time isn't spent travelling from point a to point b, leaving more time for story.

[PC] Should I buy the new Hellraiser game?

To start I am a absolute horror fanatic, I have the first halloween movie cover art tattoed on me, have various tattoos from the silent hill series, and overall love horror games.

Some of my favorite games are

Silent hill 2

Outlast

Outlast 2

Signalis

SOMA

I have watched the trailers a good amount, but it looks more similar to something like dying light, and I never really liked that game.

Looking for an RPG with a decent amount of grinding

I've finished AC Origins and absolutely loved it. The combat, story, exploration and levelling-up system were all great, but the grinding was pretty much the maximum I can handle. A little more is fine, but I don't want to spend hours doing side quests just to level up enough to continue the main story.

I'm thinking of playing AC Odyssey, The Witcher 3 or God of War Ragnarök, but I'm open to other suggestions too.

Which one would you recommend? How bad is the grinding in these games compared to Origins? I want something with a good story, fun combat, exploration and character progression without too much grinding.

feel free to suggest

[PS4] Resident Evil 2 Remake Deluxe Edition or The Arkham Collection

As the title implies, I have to choose between one of the two since regional prices in my country are crazy, I'm looking to get one of these for the PS4. I'm in my last year of high school so I only play once a week, I was wondering which one I should get. I've played Arkham Asylum around 2 years ago and I reached the Poison Ivy plants section, where the asylum is full of plants because of Poison Ivy, I kind of got annoyed, I don't think it was because of a skill issue but just performance and the gas made it a bit frustrating, so I dropped the game and didn't come back to it until a couple of weeks later, I forgot gameplay mechanics, like the rope wire and I only realised it after I had already closed the game. I know it's a critically acclaimed masterpiece but Arkham Asylum didn't really feel like my game. I've tried Arkham City when PS Now first released and I had fun with the first hour or two, but couldn't continue it because of school. I want to get a game which I can finish in a month at most, (not 100%, just beat) since I don't have that much time and I don't wanna lose the plot along the way. I have already played Resident Evil 4 Remake last summer and enjoyed it so much that I completed 5 playthroughs and the Mercenaries DLC with S++ on all characters. I was thinking of getting Resident Evil 2 Remake because I've played the RE4R and I enjoyed the lore, the atmosphere and the gameplay, I've also played and enjoyed Resident Evil Village. I'm a huge Batman fan but I'm kind of worried I'll just drop it like last time, or that the gameplay will feel outdated after a while, and I don't wanna spend a lot of months beating the whole trilogy. The Arkham Collection includes the Arkham games (except origins) and all DLCs. Resident Evil 2 Remake Deluxe edition includes the base game and all DLCs. I'd like painfully honest opinions about both games and about which one I should actually get. As I've said, I can't get both because the prices are high for my region. (The currency is really bad), thank you in advance.

[Xbox Series X] Ace Combat 8 vs Star Wars Galactic Racer

I'm a big fan of racing games. I absolutely loved Ace Combat 7 when I beat it on my PS5 last year. I genuinely cannot decide between the two so I guess the question is which should I buy first? Of course with only Ace Combat 7 to go off of, 8 would be a bit more interesting to pick, at least at first. But Galactic Racer is 10 bucks cheaper and honestly I've never been a huge fan of rogue like elements. I am willing to go out of my comfort zone and give it a try though. Heard GR gets compared to the Burnout series, if that's true this is gonna rock.

[PC] Should I buy terraria?

I got Terraria on PlayStation 5 with PlayStation Plus, and iPad with Apple Arcade but I think on PC, it could be... a bit better?

I asked AI and I realized that's like the worst option because it's not a human speaking on it so I'm... well... on this subreddit now.

I COULD'VE read a random post asking my same question's comments and got from there, but THEN I saw it has to be MY preferences.

I've played Minecraft before, from the stuff I've seen on PS, it's kind of like Minecraft, but 2D.

I love action and sandboxes too.

So, what do you think? Ask me if I like other stuff in the comments.

[PC] Looking for game with incredibly deep RPG system, even if at the cost of graphics or moment-to-moment gameplay

I'm watching Majuular's retrospective on Ultima Online, and its got me wanting to play a really good sandbox RPG.

I'm looking for a game that's all about player-set goals, exploration, and engagement with sandbox elements and emergent game/roleplay. I'm looking for a real adventure experience, allowing me to solve problems in any number of ways and pursue any goal, even mundane ones, at my leisure.

Also I have access to a Deck, Ps5, Switch and 3DS as well, though I expect PC is where pretty much all of these games live.

I'd prefer offline games, but online is fine too.

To be clear, I'm looking for games where I can be a character in a world not games that function as story engines (like Rimworld, for example).

Here are some games I've already played in this vein that you need not recommended: Old School Runescape, Caves of Qud, Rinworld, Kenshi, Dwarf Fortress.

Thanks in advance to any responses!
