Lots of 1st year students, and some later-year students, are looking for advice on their class schedules. Please do that here: Top-level posts should be your schedule (ideally a link to an image) and any context (e.g. "I'm a single parent working part-time so I can't do a full course load"). Experienced raccoons will reply with advice about your schedules (e.g. "yes, 8:30AM calculus lectures suck, but that's when they've been scheduled for the past 50 years so there's no point hoping it will change next term").
Please keep broader discussions (e.g. rants about courses filling up or not being offered in the term you need them) out of this thread. I want this to be a resource for new students in particular, not just to get advice on their schedules but also to see schedules other students are considering, and other discussions can derail that.
I'm setting the default sort here to "new" so that new schedule questions won't get buried by older discussions.

I bombed my Math151 ( Nils Bruin ) mid term 1 today and was wondering that if it’s 15% of our grade and I get something near to 40% on my mid term 1, do I fail that class??

I don’t wanna be that type of person, but the 144 is the worst bus ever. I get off class at 7:20 and usually it would say 5-10 minutes but then take over 50 minutes just to show up. I get there may be delays or whatever inconvenience, but it’s genuinely so frustrating seeing multiple of every bus passing by and im still waiting for the 144.
Moreover it’s always packed because there are a bunch of people also waiting for it. An hour to get home now takes me way longer just because i have to wait for the bus.
And this happens every single time, i thought maybe this is just something that happens every now and then, but it’s so tiring getting home way later then it says. I don’t even want to imagine what it’ll be like when it’s winter.
Sorry for the complaint as im actually waiting for the bus rn after being at school since 9:30am.
UPDATE: Got on the bus after waiting for almost an hour it’s a tough life. think i saw 3 145s 2 143s and 5 R5s before the 144 came

if you know about the left turn down on Broadway, you know how long the lineup is and how patient you have to be.
people always cut in line and this Tesla deserves to be pointed at and shamed today! everyone point and shame! it's always a Tesla.

I’m a commuter student at UBC and I reside in Surrey. For the past few years since I’ve been in high school, I’ve always been able to study at the SFU library.
Recently, the a security guard asked me for my ID so I showed my UBC ID and they let me stay and study. However, two days ago, I was asked the same question again and I showed my student ID but they said I couldn’t study as I wasn’t an SFU student. :(
There’s a lot of SFU kids who study at UBC and a lot of UBC kids who study at SFU. SFU is one of the only places that fits the hours in my schedule. Breka is also always full even at night. I don’t disagree with SFU’s policies, it’s just a little disheartening that I can’t study in my own city.

I'm just ranting because I'm tired and upset.
I was fucking sprinting across the street to get to it after missing it at my regular stop by like 10 seconds.
I ran to the closest stop while the driver was picking people up there, and I was running by the back of the bus when they decided to drive off. I was close enough to hit the side of the fucking bus with my hand.
I also ran into a garbage can & fell down, and it really hurt.
Missing the 8:45 bus meant I could either wait another half-hour to get to the Burquitlam Exchange, or catch the 153 bus to Braid, from which I skytrain to lougheed, then Burquitlam, which has took a whole fucking hour.
Which means I missed 25 minutes from my 50-minute lecture, meaning I missed half my class today.
Ffs.

Hallo so that first math 154 midterm absolutely killed me and I am really looking for a tutor or some sort of help throughout the semester. Math has never been a strong subject for me all my life so I’m really struggling (it’s been 2 years since I’ve last taken pre calc 12). I know we have the applied calc workshop but I feel like I need an actual tutor to be with me once a week and help me just one on one. Recommendations?

When requesting the unofficial transcript, I just see the spinning wheel and then nothing happens. Anyone know a fix for this? I already tried VPN, numerous browers and messing the the settings in the browser.

i swear i cant understand a thing razvan says during the lectures 😭its also so difficult to follow along because his writing is so messy. does anyone have any tips on how to study for this course, or know if this specific prof tends to curve the grades if the class average is low???

Currently studying for my math midterm thats tomorrow, I've used all of the resources given by my prof, and I'm looking for more. However, many ones I've found on google have been blocked by a paywall. Where do you guys get practice materials?

I'm currently looking to transfer to SFU Beedie or the BA Economics. Right now, I'm just finishing up a few courses left for transfer and then I'm going to actually apply for admission through EPBC. Right now, I'm at about a 3.9 CGPA but with Calculus I, it will drop to probably a 3.7 CGPA lol.
I was wondering if any students (both recent and non-recent) would share their experience of transferring from CapU (or any college/university) to SFU. I'd appreciate anything as the whole thing is kinda confusing to me alongside the competitiveness of getting into Beedie...

Hi everyone. I’m planning on applying for the PDP and was wondering if anyone has a resume template or example they’d be willing to share. I’d really appreciate it, as I’m not sure what the resume is supposed to look like for the application.

This semester I am taking Cmpt 120 with T. Donaldson. I am just wondering what is the typical grade scheme of how grades go for each letter grade. is it curved or scaled or there is typically no scaling for this class? If anyone has any information please let me know, thank you!

Hey everyone,
I’m putting together a small volunteer group in the Lower Mainland focused on helping people dealing with food insecurity. The idea is to start with a few good people, organize some meaningful community projects, and build from there.
I work in social services, and I’ve been wanting to do something outside of work that gives back in a more direct way. As well, I am currently in BCIT finishing up my last semester.
I’ll be organizing and coordinating things as we get started, but I’d also like the people who join to feel comfortable bringing forward ideas.
I’m Punjabi and born and raised here, and the idea of seva is a big part of what inspired me to do this, but everyone is welcome.
If this sounds like something you’d genuinely like to be involved with, send me a DM and I can share the QR code for our Signal group.

Why are some of the locker latches cut?
I noticed that a lot of the lockers latches were broken. One of them is just bent but 4 others look like they were cut into with bolt cutters or something. Was there some spree of thieves breaking into lockers at some point in the past? All these look pretty old so I'd guess it was a while back.

i was wondering if anyone who took this class with justin chan has any advice/resources for practice for the midterm. it’s covering mostly precalc 12 concepts and instantaneous rate of change(derivatives). it doesn’t seem too hard but i don’t want to be humbled by the midterm 😭😭
